After a fast visit to the NWA History Centre, it appears that a $20 membership is necessary to view the NWA Reflections newsletter and to buy items from the Centre. Is the above correct Georger? Robert99 I had no problem viewing them? http://www.nwahistory.org/newsletter.htm I don't have any trouble getting to the newsletter page, but I still can't open individual newsletters. And I did install the Adobe reader on that page just to make sure I had the right version. Maybe I need to send my e-mail address to the NWA e-mail address shown on that page. Robert99

Ouch! Where have I heard that before, B.M. (B.P.)

Jo, Do you actually believe what you have written above? If the Cooper hijacking was "A Matter of National Security", do you honestly think the FBI would still be posting online information about that case? Do you remember that it was an FBI agent who provided most, if not all, of the Cooper information presented on this thread and that he also posted here for quite a while? Do you remember that it was the FBI that provided Tom Kaye and his crew with access to their actual files on the Cooper case? For someone who claims to be interested only in the "truth" about Duane Weber and has no interest in a book, you are extremely well versed in how the book publishing industry and the movie industry operates. Jo, Sorry, but unlike Blevins, I don't have a damn bit of sympathy for you. Your FBI rant indicates that you expect them to chase after every fairey tale you dream up. Your lengthy posts, one of which by actual count consisted of more than 20 "what if" type questions from which you actually arrived at a solid conclusion (or so you claimed) are beyond belief. After 18 years or so of hitting your head against the wall without a single positive result, anyone not certifiably nuts would at least start considering the possibility that Duane Weber was not Cooper. But not you. Judging from your past actions, I predict that you will go to your grave still blaming all your problems and the world's problems on the FBI. However, the FBI is NOT responsible for global warming. You can take my word for that and you heard it here on DZ.com first. Soldier on! Rober99

Robert99 I evidently failed to save the post and the Google map, and all searches haven't found it. Just one more example of how impossible it's become to function here - I know I replied to the post. Let me search further when I get time ... if its even worth spending time on which it probably isn't. Take care. ps: cant find it. all I can find is RobertMBlevins shit. He has so polluted this thread hardly anything is easily searchable now. Its time to basically give up. It no longer matters - The above is not to be confused with the posts recently about a flare parachute, which probably originated from the Yakima Firing Center. That facility is just east of Yakima and apparently is where Fort Lewis personnel do their live firing training with tanks and other heavy weapons. Robert99

Do you really think Blevins made that up? NO he didn't! Jo, You continue to amaze and mystify me. Are you claiming that I said that Titanium was not used in golf clubs? If so, then you need to eat your own crow. If you would bother to read the posts, including your own, then you might discover that the original posts related to machine shops and the machining of Titanium. Not whether it was used in golf clubs. Robert99

In the Jurassic period of this thread you mentioned and named a munitions test site just east of V23, between Ariel and BTG east, where people presumably made and tested munitions. I thought that was possibly interesting in terms of the particles found on the tie ? Are you sure that was me? I didn't know there was such a facility in the Vancouver area. Robert99 Maybe it was Smokin99 ? Let me go back and find it - I saved the post and did a Google map search at the time and saved it ... but it interested me at the time. Its a wild card ... Some armor piercing shells back then had Ti and Uranium alloy covered tips. Has anyone bothered to see if any of those particles are 'hot' ? I doubt it. Let me find the original post... "Depeleted Uranium" is used in the shells of some current ground support aircraft, such as the A-10 Warthog. They are claimed to be effective against tanks and heavy armor and are used in the A-10's Gatling Gun. Claims have also been made about health problems in personnel who handle those shells. Robert99

I did not say anything about a machine shop. I was talking a high end custom made golf shop in a high end district - VAIL or ASPEN. I no longer have a link for he site you are referring to. I went there a few times and I never found the discussion indicated in this thread - so maybe I didn't go to the right SITE! Please provide a link to the site. The imprinting on the shaft of the club: A slanted box angling to the right, with what appears to be a lightening bolt in it. True Temper Finest Quality Made in the USA Personal Model. I believe they if my memory serves me Persimon Woods. Jo, Just exactly how do you think golf clubs, especially the metal parts, are made? Please update those of use who haven't seen a golf club in a week or two. Also, it might be helpful if you explained what you mean by "a high end custom made golf shop in a high end district". Do you mean high quality clubs or that the clubs were just made at a high altitude such as in Vail and Aspen? For a link to Tom Kaye's web page, take a look at the post earlier this evening by 377, which you probably read to get the idea about the golf clubs. Robert99

Don't jump to conclusions. This subject has been discussed at length here. If you thought anyone working in a machine shop was forbidden to wear a normal ever day type tie then you are mistaken. Tom Kaye probably still has some pictures on his web page of typical people working in a typical machine shop and wearing a standard tie (not the quick on/off type Cooper was wearing). Tom's pictures toss the Cooper tie question right out the window. Cooper's tie selection was not conclusive of his job or employment. Robert99

Jo writes in post #402044: Jo writes in post #402045: Jo, You are completely "negative" and go ballistic when something posted here does not agree with your claims about Duane Weber. So don't get the idea that your posts are to be accepted as Absolute Truth. Robert99

Jo, If you had read my original response to your post, you would know that I was responding to your claim about not having a "clue" about Duane's background and his extra-legal activities. In addition to the above, when did you know, to use your own phrasing, that Duane liked to seduce women, rob them, and then graciously leave a twenty dollar bill on the dresser? Robert99

No clue? Not even after you lied to the two Florida Highway Patrolmen about where Duane was? And not even after Duane's response when the Florida Highway Patrolmen then followed you to his location? Jo, get real! Robert99 ROBERT99 U CALLED ME LIAR ABOVE! ! THE RECORDS PROVE I DID NOT LIE. WHY DON'T YOU CONTACT THE DEPUTIES OFFICE YOURSELF. Do you not remember that when the 2 local Escambia Co.deputies and one patrolman entered the shop that Duane put both hands on the desk....this was just a short time later as they followed me to the store. Some of you guys need to research before you call someone a LIAR. Calling someone a liar - you better have your proof! I was shocked by the 1 patrol man showing up on my door and can you imagine what I must have felt in the shop when the 2 deputies and a HWY Patrolman showed up a the shop. Duane was ACCUSING me of TURNING him in and I only went there to find out WHAT the hell this was about - trying to get a drivers license under the name of John Collins. I wanted an explanation! I knew he was trying to adjust to the kidney machine - and I told the patrolman that my husband had just started the kidney machine, I even asked that patrolman if it could have anything to do with this. Evidently - because one call to the Dr. and he was not booked but then transported from Lakeview to the Pavillion. The Dr and I knew a night in Lakeview would be detrimental....that is where they sent all of the crack addicts...and they were over-run with diseases in that location. I have told this story before - WHY do I have to repeat it for a "poster" who is only looking for anything he can and to call me a LIAR! When the facts are right here in this thread! Robert99 - APOLOGIZE NOW! Some of you FBI types do not know how to cross your T's or dot your I's. You actually held the lives of other people in your hands in the cockpit of a plane? You have actually been responsible for other lives - and you can't keep your facts straight! How the hell did you pilot a plane? Jo, You have previously posted and exchanged posts about the incident where two police officers (from whatever jurisdictions) came to your front door and asked to speak to Duane. By your own statement, you told them that you did not know where Duane was. The officers then left and within a few minutes you drove to Duane's shop (or whatever it was). Then the officers you had met just a few minutes earlier arrived. They had followed you, without your knowledge, to Duane's shop. And with you supposedly watching, Duane reacted as though he thought he was going to be arrested. But he wasn't to your surprise. You have related the above any number of times on this thread. You claim above that I am an "FBI type", which is something that I have repeatedly stated that I am not. Nevertheless, you continue to make that and other irresponsible allegations. You need to keep your own facts straight! Robert99

In addition to what Amazon suggests above, I think it would be a good idea for any would be professional pilot, who routinely wears a parachute, to be required to make at least one jump as part of their initial training. I am sure that Farflung would manage to stay awake during the parachute training class if he knew that he would be using one within an hour or so. The actual jump experience would also serve to separate the men from the boys and the women from the girls. Probably 90+ percent of "parachuting jumping education" is gained on that first jump. At least most of the misconceptions are corrected. Robert99

I have an NB-6 container that was manufactured in the 1980s. It also has a small pouch inside the container and I could not figure out what it was for. So I assume that it was also for holding a small survival kit. Correct? Robert99 I couldn't find a pic with the beacon in the pack, here is some pics of them and a survival kit. I have now gotten my NB-6 container out of the garage and taken some measurements. The container was manufactured 3/88 and the pocket in question is mounted on the right side and would be completely enclosed in the container when it is packed with a parachute. The pocket is about 10.5 inches long, about 1.5 inches wide, and 1.5 inches high. There are 0.75 inch diameter holes in each side of the pocket and they are centered about 3.0 inches from the top of the pocket. The pocket is closed by a zipper fastener. A flap is sewn on the right side of the pocket and covers the zipper and is secured on the left side by a nomex closure. Robert99

Some individual who was testing pingers - figured out how to some use some kind of Suede to protect and secure the pingers in the back packs in the 60's. The article mentioned testing of this and the man whose name who conceived the idea and tested it. Did my mind create this memory? If it did than I am completely off my rocker. What I need is the name of the man who conceived of this idea and find out when the test were done and when. I think I am loosing my mind....! Jo, There is no need for a special material to be used for the pinger pockets. Standard parachute pack material would get the job done with ease and this would be obvious to any rigger. I think you have gotten some things mixed up one way or the other. Also, even if Blevins departs according to your wishes, YOU still don't have anything whatsoever connecting Duane Weber to Cooper. To the best of my knowledge, you would still be the only one on this thread who thinks Duane was Cooper. Robert99
-
Speaking of "real research", have you sent for Duane's Army records yet? You seem to know what everyone on this thread should be doing, but apparently doing some real research yourself is beneath your status as "Director of D.B. Cooper Research" and "I know Duane was Cooper because he told me so" advocate. Robert99

I can try again, but the man stated I was NOT listed as a beneficiary. I let him know I was NOT wanting or looking for benefits - just the records...of his time in the ARMY - training and locations and that kind of information. He again repeated "Classified" with an apology and handed me the paper to fill out and that was when I got a copy of the same thing I had except it had a close date. I forget the date I did this but it was before 2002. So that would have been approx 53 yrs and now it would hit the 62 yr mark. Jo, Try again. And if you have a copy of Duane's death certificate and your marriage license to him, make a Xerox copy of each and include them with the SF180. It's entirely possible that the Army has not had any action on Duane's file since the time his family gave up trying to get the BCD dismissed. So try again! Robert99
-
Matt, just to be clear about this: one of Jo's complaints has been she could not get all of Duane's "records", whatever "all" means. As a former spouse, can she get "all of" Duane's military records? Maybe you could clarify that for her ... Jo needs to try again under the Archival Records clause. Since Duane was booted out of the Army in 1944, the 62 year period would have expired in 2006. So Jo needs to get a Standard Form 180, fill in all the blanks possible, include a check for the appropriate amount, and get it in the mail. And she should send in a SF180 for both the Army and Navy records to the appropriate addresses. Jo can't lose anything but a few dollars at most. Robert99

Not so fast on doomsday calls Robert. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/weather/research/2010-06-10-cloud-whitening_N.htm Just give us some cloudless weekends for skydiving. 377 Yeah. That was a bit of parody back there. I'm just glad I lived in the time where everyone in the future will hate us. You know...the good old days of having fun burning up all the cheap fossil fuels on fast Chevys and yes...aircraft.

AS far as your statement about Military Records, but Doug and I will vouch for that. We obtained a pretty detail summary of Weber's time in the Navy even after being told there was NO information. On the ARMY file we did NOT get that lucky! No detailed report of his short stay in the Army. Question military guy: If an individual has been in the Navy and put out on a BAD Conduct Disharge), then they go to the ARMY (let's say on good terms) for a hypothetical observation. WOULD the man NOT be sent to ARMY orientation of some sort. We have pondered on this for a long time. We know he was in the Army officially but for a short duration. How did HE GET in the ARMY? WE have NEVER figured this out! We KNOW he was there and the record shows he was in the Army and I have the official papers, but we have NO details. With the Navy we know were he went for training and the where he was shipped from there and his work detail right down to his BAD time and that record ends with the parents communication for sometime afterwards - because they fought the BAD Conduct Disharge. Then Duane was in CA and got into some stuff at The Trails and then ended up in the Army. NO one seems to know how he got into the Army, but it did happen! He was there! The goverment acknowledges this - but that is all they acknowledge. The file is CLASSIFIED! I saw that on the screen myself. The guy has to go get a special code and then when he goes to the file tells me I am not a listed beneficiary. I explain I was only 3 yrs old in 1943 - and did not meet and marry my husband until 1978...and that I need some records. He just repeated "CLASSIFIED" - if you fill out these papers they will send you the records - but he was just pacifing me because ALL I got was a DUPILICATE of the other item I had, but it did have a close date as the first one did not. Jo, The ONLY way for Duane to get in the Army after getting a Bad Conduct Discharge from the Navy would be for him to lie about it in some manner. He probably did not inform the Army of his time in the Navy. If he had informed the Army of the BCD at the time of his enlistment, he probably would not have been permitted to enlist. If he had told the Army that he had served some time in the Navy, they would have asked him questions about his Navy service and would have wanted to see his discharge papers from the Navy. With Duane's limited time in the Navy, even if he told the Army about it, it is almost certain that he would have had to go through Army Basic Training which was about eight weeks long at that time. As far as Duane's Army records being "classified", there are various things that are listed as "classified" that don't have anything to do with National Security. In your particular case, you were denied direct access to Duane's Army records. That does NOT mean that they were classified "Secret" or some such thing. As an illustration, marked Government vehicles usually have a "For Official Use Only" sign on their doors. That is a "classified" term but not a security term. If you were making some kind of claim with the Veterans Administration based on Duane's Army service, it is very unlikely that the claim would be approved. If nothing else, it would be denied due to Duane's fraud and very brief time in the Army. But you have previously stated that you were not interested in making a VA claim. Robert99

Looks like the avian conspiracy regarding the Seahawks may have been a hoax. Falcons 27 - Hawks 7...so far. Blevins, I believe that a significant portion of the information on the "lost" records was later recovered from other records (or copies) that were out of the building at the time of the fire. The lost record situation was not as bad as initially believed and publicized. So if anyone tells you or a former military type that their records were completely destroyed in that fire, get in touch with a veterans service organization and discuss the matter. All was not lost! Robert99
