  1. it would be assumed that it is to do with the mis-rigging of a cypres, by the s&ta/DZO/rigger, that caused a student to die, or it may have been the gun pulling? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  2. Well I was in a IAD class @ a dz that was changing over from S/L to IAD and we were flying a caravan not an otter, same door so.... anyway after a couple drops one guy let a student out and threw the PC late so the bridal and PC ended up in front of the student, who took notice of that and, well grabbed it and held it in a fetal POS and was well on his way to firing a cypres when he let it go and as the main was coming out the reserve fired, he had two out and chopped the main from a biplane and almost caused a double mal... The DZO who was watching all of this from the ground put an instance stop to any IAD change over, so I didn't get to finish the class by dropping my two people. While I've seen it done, it seems to be no big deal as long as you get a good PC toss low and behind like any other drop. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  3. Yea that's the real issue, some stupid fuck wearing a D ring reserve handle, gee wiz after 75 years or so use it's now proven to be the problem that endangers the users. How about all you new kiddies try getting with the program and protect your damn handles, that even means not letting some asshat with go pro dump you out @ 13K.... what ever happened to dirt diving with your shit on? Maybe if they would dirt dove that with gear someone would have seen the snag problem..... then again most everyone in the door jam seems pretty clueless of the "real danger"..... that goddamn D handle getting in the way of that go pro. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  4. Nope, had one the other week, flew fine as long as I held more then half left down, but if you let it up even a little it was spin right away there was never any question about using the reserve. Now having just flown a master 435 with big fat chick on front, well it was 50/50 we could have busted our asses on the fucked up main or we risked busting up our asses on landing the reserve due to no wind and it flies (toggle pressure) like a mack truck with no power steering.... that makes you real tired and leaves little left for the flair... good thing I been working out. Guess the point is, my first thought was FUCK I got a fat chick on the front to worry about hurting, might have kept it and crash landed it had I been solo??? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  5. We so need a like button on this site! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  6. Won't fly with the FAA if it's federal funded airport, if it is private airport or non funded your screwed. Won't fly with the FAA if it's federal funded airport, if it is private airport or non funded your screwed. Won't fly with the FAA if it's federal funded airport, if it is private airport or non funded your screwed. Won't fly with the FAA if it's federal funded airport, it private airport or non funded your screwed. Yes and failing to grasp a great deal in how the FAA & USPA work. Clearly you fail to understand the AAD fund and it's process to get it or you wouldn't be making the comments you had made about it and then try to back peddle and say you didn't say to use the funds in this case.... while yes you never say "get money" Wtf else would you be contacting them for then if not to request money, they sure as hell are not the folks to advocate for you to a DZO or any other party then USPA, because there is no access issue to use the airport or the airspace above it, you are being told you can't do those jumps at a private owned skydiving business. It dose not make your point, for one thing those airways and that airport are already open for your use, even to do CREW of you like.... you just can't jump out of SKC's plane to do it or have anything to do with his business, you are free however to contract your own aircraft, pilot & file your own notam as well as get permission per 105.23b to land on the airport property and then conduct all the CREW jumps you wnat on that very airport in that very airspace and there is not a goddamn thing USPA can do to help you other then ask Mr. Hall real nice to allow CREW there, it's his dropzone to run as he see fit CREW or no CREW it's none of your business nor your place to tell him other wise, it's a free country and your welcome to try it. At no time did I say it was not a dickhead thing to do, that DZO has a reputation as being some what of a dickhead, depending on who your talking to, I don't know one way or the other if he is a dickhead or not, regardless of his dickheadedness or no dickheadedness.... I fully support his right to run his USPA GM DZ as he sees fit. If that means you can't jump CREW there, well tough shit then, you can't jump CREW there. Here is a news flash for you, that same DZO also has a rule in place that in effect bans the use of my round parachutes because he demands all gear have computer AAD installed to jump there.... guess I better call the USPA and get them to issues me some AAD funding because I'm being denied access to the oairspace and airport and have my RD and some ND's call him up and set him right goddamn it!!! Is this a federal funded airport and that private company is acting as FBO? or are we talking a private or non federal funded airport? Because if it's funded there are avenues to solve that problem within the FAA airport compliance. If it's a non funded or private airport, well your fucked then and better go get you a fuel truck and quit your bitchin about it already! And if you can seem to understand a DZO having the right to ban any type of skydiving at their place of business is in fact NOT denying you use of the airways for skydiving then I don't really how to explain it to you other to say maybe you spend some time learning more about how the USPA AAD funding & USPA government relations office is all about and how, he: Randy Ottinger, is your advocate to the FAA, local, state & DZO's to keep skydivers skydiving. Your talking a lot of fluff and based on your posts it's clear you know little on the subject matter at hand. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  7. Hold reserve handle, push the real comedian backwards, while stating..... YOUR GROUNDED! There fixed it for you. Back in the day that used to happen if you really fucked, no so much any more and people like this are allowed to do as please and no one dose anything to them, this is why we see this these days. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  8. No it's not keeping anyone for opening anything, however it hurts the process and even more so when those displaying the attitude are DZO's who show up at city commission hearings to bash the sport & other skydiving centers who are trying to open in the same area as the others. You have every right to do that and it maybe helpful or you might get told to fuck off and get the hell out of his office an or off his dropzone Really? you would do that, WTF makes you think you or the USPA have any say over what a DZO allows to take place in, on, over the dropzone they run? If you don't like it then go start your own dropzone and do what the fuck you want, how you want, when you want and stop trying butt your nose into a private business. And as for contacting: especially those involved in the Airport Access Defense Fund. You along with a great deal of people in this sport need to get your head out of your ass start to read and understand just how the AAD fund works.... WTF makes you think banning CREW at a DZ has anything to do with taking to the AAD fund people @ USPA? Got news for you there Alice! http://www.uspa.org/USPAShop/tabid/353/pid/312/Airport-Airspace-Defense-Fund.aspx you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  9. You bet your ass there is....! Jim I for one would like to get a copy of that. There is a online parachute manual site for uploads. And yes I have the line on my sleeves. On my 6th jump I let a guy work on the crown lines and he forgot to reattach the line your talking about, it was on that jump I learned an important lesson about paracommanders and extraction lines on sleeves and why there a good thing. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  10. You've got to be kidding...... rolling eyes...... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  11. *** On what? My sleeves all have the sleeve extraction line and the bridal line to the PC, yes..... but not on my POD's or D-bag'ed PC's. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  12. Might explain why you don't like T-10 rounds...... There not designed to "flair" did you toggle it or riser it...LOL Almost as bad as piss poor packing & cutaway....... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  13. It dose help a lot Jerry when guys like you speak up, helps other to dust off the brain cells. I forgot about the long sleeves, your correct about that non stow section in the crown area. Once you posted that, it made me recall packing one in a collection a few years ago..... it was the only one in the collection too. There is a shit load of extra sleeve up there to S fold. Sleeves are nice, but POD's are easier to close. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  14. yea that's the funny thing about "teaching", how do you know if you did your job right if your too busy running your mouth playing radio control skydivers..... I didn't spend all that time in class on canopy control and WTF to do just to have the info out there and to hear myself talk. I'm going to have to start using the bus driver line! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  15. I disagree here, I think you should post anytime you want about any topic you see fit to post about. However, as others have said, you need to focus on what you are saying and to whom you say it. Based on your posts it would seem your in need of some additional training and skills help, with that said, it could clearly be a mis understanding of our differences in country and use of slang or wording. Regardless of all that, we are all here to learn and the only stupid question you ask, is the one your too afraid to ask here because someone might take aim at you and belittle or point out your just wrong about what ever, hell you might be right and their just being a prick to be a prick, not like we don't any of those guys in the ranks.... To the OP, I try to train my FJC without every speaking of the use of a radio. I do this because it will keep your focus on WTF to do on your own once the canopy opens part of the class. However today too many people hear about it via friends or marketing and always pretty much ask about it after we get into the meat of it. This spoils the effect of how I like to teach, people are likely to not pay heed to the training once they hear "someone will talk you down on radio" you can watch as their eyes glaze over and the lights dim. In classes where I have used a parasim trainer and not used a sim, but I never told the students about a radio till I put it on them, have all done 100% better in canopy control and on airport landings, then those who knew ahead of time, when it came to an actual radio failure and knowing WTF to do. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  16. like button! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  17. Not really, for one it's not that loose when done correct, it's set so the PAX can squat down, this allows for room to exit small doors and to lift legs up on landing. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  18. I highly doubt you'll stuff a jumbo into a mini system, I own one and it's a tight ass bitch with a mk 1 in it. you need a style master or the like, not mini. not for sale, but usable for interested parties. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  19. You have the one deployment system I have not used nor owned. However it all works the same over all. A POD is a lot like a strong tandem main deployment d-bag today that opens up with velcro on the sides, only bigger like the size of a stylemaster or retro container pack tray like that. You have to make your folds shorter, it's just like making your S folds with a long sleeve, only you make your folds and then place in the POD. With a POD (same as sleeve), I still double the main stows if there loose in the big rubbers, I also double the crown lines, but then again I chose to use the large rubbers and not the smalls like a lot of guys do now. Almost everyone not from back in the day I have ever let jump a round all bitch about the opening shock, it's because they only know 1000 foot openings now and their not used to it making them slump in the harness like that. I know they are fine, because I test jumped each and every one of them and did all the packing. If they keep bitching then don't do long delays..... mostly it's "stop being a pussy and go jump it" I have a couple mark ones too, a PAP, two jumbos, someone asked about weight for a PC. My personal comfort range is 180 (or less) up to 200 without gear, anymore then 200 your going to pound in unless it's a jumbo and even then you better be able to do a good PLF and today's kiddies couldn't do a good PLF to save their asses if it won them a million bucks. @ 190 LBS without gear, I regularly could get rear riser stand up landings on my MK 1 short lined and my long line MK1, 23 Russian or PAP, all jumbos are softer landings. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  20. That's right, we even have those special little handles on the suits to make the clean up faster. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  21. I always do because the standard size rubber bands are to loose and require a double stow due to line type. Yes you could use the smaller rubber bands, I don't like them so I choose to double. Same with main lines, only if needed, but NOT the locking stows... Also what type of deployment system are you using? Sleeve or POD ? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  22. Well he would have to stay out of the D license LZ & PRO rated areas with only an A license... Don't be going around tell these type of people the wrong info Dave or we'll never hear the end of it! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  23. Really? That explains all the Cessna 172, 180, 182, 185, 195's I see around with broken door jams & wing mounts, after all of those years flying around without door has caused all that damage...... No wonder they crash! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  24. And FYI-, that door was OPEN! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  25. I was going to say, land in the peas! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
