I wouldn't worry much about not able to spot worth a damn, hell you'd be hard pressed at some places to even find anyone who can spot let alone teach it. "we go on the green light, stupid".... And as for wipe'n out a landing and getting dragged, well, shit happens..... sooner of later your going to crash land..... now you could solve both problems at once, it would not only teach you how to spot for real and make you real good at it or good at walking, and getting dragged on landing was a real part of the FJC for a reason. If thats the case then... maybe you could try building a pair of slip on wings, you don't need a full jacket, and you don't need attach and detach wings... what you need is a pair of slip on wings that slide over you current jacket. Back when I didn't want to pay for a real jacket, I used a number of pairs of these kind of slip on wings, there nice for super hot high humid areas, you can slip them right on over your t-shirt, or have another looser pair for slipping over you jacket. Now if you makes these, you have to watch for how loose you have the spandex because it will inflate some if too loose. Now the other thing is if you use spandex in the back area it will lift your rig off you back slightly and that can be kind of trippy because it feels like your not wearing a rig, however that is acting like part of the wing, in other words the wing is one all the way across your back and not just the part under your arm pit. These work very well, I used to use these and only t-shirt and shorts... and these are cheap as hell to make. Simple to make, one piece of spandex or what you care use, folded over to make the arms and back, then your choice of wing fabric sewn on, then use binding tape to do the outside edge of wing, it end in the swoop cords and harness attachment point, I used fastex clips and used the female end on an adjustable loop. YOU MUST make sure to use some spandex in the back section, you can see it's cut in an arch shape, that is so it stays close and hugs your side and that way you can't reach through to pull your handle through the wing, if you do your fucked! If you want a nice place to jump where your a name and not a number, SWC will treat you right. If you read the reviews on the Google link I posted, you will see another Miami Valley DZ likes to start shit and bad mouth SWC because once that other place was ran off that airport SWC moved back to the county where their family is from Warren County Ohio. And they moved into the old hanger that was used by that other place that like to talk all the shit. It seems they have their panties in a wad over it, but yet claim they were never asked to leave Leb, but what is funny about all of that bullshit, is they seem to go out of their way to try to bad mouth and piss in everyone's corn flakes, because some other operator is in their former building on their former airport. Marty, Thanks for the reply. 1st. My thoughts of the FB posted bar napkin photo was that is was a joke and not real. 2nd. If you saying it the real deal, that is indeed good news for everyone wishing to fly other wings then a set canopy. 3rd. My post is just what happened when in Sept. 2010 I asked SE staff and then called George to ask him why he had not bothered to send a canopy... after he started laughing and said that is BS, I called back to SE and told them what he said... it was at this time I was told about all the extra stuff, now had I been told that to start with I would taken the time ask George to comply and send SE the stuff on behalf of those who have P. Aero canopies or would like to use his product line so that it is SB 22 compliant per SE. Maybe George just don't want to fool with it or spend the time and money to draft up such info, IDK... All I know is if I owned a company that sold tandem parachutes and I didn't make my own HC, I would be trying to get it approved for use in as many HC's as I could, after all kind of hard to sell a product line if HC MFG's are saying only XYZ canopies are allowed in our system. George claims he personally gave (for free) Ted a P.A. tandem canopy to test, when I asked him why he had not done that so Strong could test it.... I then called back to Strong and asked what gives and they said... well we want them to write a manual as well with instructions on how to use it in our system and have line charts and all that kind of shit in it. In other words the story changed from what I was told the first time by SE to something else after I talked to George. Also don't you think most companies would be happy to send them a free canopy to test in order to gain approval in that system, it would mean more possible sales. Personally I think SE has no interest in approving any other MFG's canopies, their only interested in forcing everyone to use strong SET mains and master reserves, or the new reserve in the new system. If it was really needed in today's world then why do we not see lot's of students firing aad's left and right on S/L & IAD progression..... In today's era we see little student deaths do to no pulls as long as the add is hooked up right, and we hardly see aad saves on first free fall's or 10 sec. jumps, sure they can & do happen but not much. Kind of reminds me of a recent debate about giving students BOC HD pilot chutes and how if it was allowed the horseshoe's would start happening 10 fold and students would start going in.... Then it turned into well you have to use base pilot chutes if you do allow that because the bridal will half hitch around the handle and cause a PCIT or total..... Yea cause that goes on all the time across the country and it's a huge industry conspiracy to hush it up in order to keep pilot chute MFG's in business, and of course every dz who uses hand deploy pilots chutes in the world are to fucking stupid understand that their using the wrong kind of pilot chutes, imagine that.... risking all those students worldwide by allowing them to use a regular hand deploy pilot chute!
