Anybody know who this is ???

the kid in the red shirt discussing swoop tactic's with Mike McGinnis. (mirror image 8-way 80-81) hint, the kid in the red shirt is now a top canopy pilot and swoop tour pro #1 in 03. his dad "the claw" must be proud. anyone know? stratostar -

Freakflyguy, There is more to the story than the DZ "just keeping" the other 30 dollars. 1) The video guy does not do any of the editing work. 2) The video guy does not supply the vhs tapes to use for editing. 3) The video guy does not own the editing equipment to do the editing with. It may not be the same at every DZ but at the ones that are charging big bucks and paying the video guy's big bucks there is alot more to it than just keeping the rest of the money. Remember... it isn't a non profit org. Pendejo you are sadly mistaken if you think that video guys just fall with a camera on their heads, a hell of a lot of us do ALL our own work and have a hell of a lot of gear to do ALL our own work. hell my helmet alone cost 3,280.00 (with cam's and switches on board) digital still camera plus 3 rigs, jumpsuits, and mixer board, title board sound mixer, cd's, 2 tv's, 2 vcr's, pc-7 for backup, printer for digital stills, film for 35mm stills,35mm camera, photo paper, batteries& chargers 3sets, mini dv film, 8mm film, and tapes to dub on to. and soon a dvd burner to buy more shit for! And not one dz I have ever worked for had any editing gear,(worth a shit) we had to do it all, and this is the end result, my having all this huge investment in having fun.and I have fun! do you think the dzo is going to replace my helmet and cameras if I have to chuck it to save my ass? I don't think so... so it sounds to me like a lot of folks need to get a clue,(you & some dzo's) sure anyone can strap a video camera to the head and shoot video then come down and pretty it up on some laptop or P.C. because they can't fly worth a shit and get the money shots, hell most around nowdays think it's their skydive, wrong it's the person paying that 70 bucks skydive they paid for it and want good results, and they should get it. the pro's that can deliver should be paid in full for the work, if the price is 70$ the dz should get slot and the video guy should get the rest. and the wantabees should keep paying their dues till they can fly the slot, and not be used by dzo's just because they can't wait for a real video guy to be free, but oh well thats a tandem mill for you. flame away. stratostar you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

make all the rules you want, jump #'s ect, as soon as at dz is short handed in video, they take anyone who has a camera strapped to their head seen it way to many time at every dz I have ever worked for, funny how the "rules" fly right out the window for the dollar!

Would you jump (and land!) a round?
stratostar replied to eddytheeagle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
you all need to go to the RICHMOND BOOGIE round load every year mcagown had some shots just posted to this site from one of those loads in 2002. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
i didn't say that "they" should not have an explanation as to what "they" have done wrong. I have seen way to many S&TA's, DZO's let people jump canopys they have no biz being under, and when many people spoke out about it nothing was done some are dead other will spend the rest of the life learning to wipe their ass and comb their hair. I assume your "new school". sometimes people need to be told their a dumbass! "if your going to stupid, you better be tough"! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Which is part of the problem, lack of tact as an S&TA. So you do not think that it is within your responsibility to help them and educate them but rather degrade them? Why because my “attitude” is that in your capacity as an S&TA you should act more professionally as an S&TA? That you know of. So you are saying that as an S&TA, that accusing skydivers of “whining” on a public forum is acting professionally? That this is the best way that you can deal with the issue? Please understand that if you had made those comments personally and not as representing yourself as an S&TA we would never have had this conversation, but the bottom line is that you did. I sure do, "back in the day" the "aso" now called s&ta used to have way more power then today if your were a dumdass your reserve got pulled and you were grounded on the spot, but now days "we" have to pussy foot around with all this P.C. crap around, sometimes it just has to said and I would want someone like crutch or t-legs around to have the balls to say what needs to be said no matter how harsh it may seem, maybe we wouldn't have so many dead jumpers if the s&ta of today still had the powers they used to have. This one I am confused about, as I have never questioned any USPA rule. In fact if you read any post that I have ever made you will see that I have staunchly supported all of the rules of the USPA and in fact, I said that if anyone did not like or agree with a rule then have it changed, but until it is changed learn how to abide with it. All I said in my prior post in reply to the comments about a D-Lic. requirement for beach jumps was “As for the D-lic. requirement to make beach jumps, that is a individual DZ management requirement and not a USPA requirement. Talk to the S&TA and the DZ to get that changed.” This was said so as to direct the individules as to where to go to discuss it with. I do not have any problems with it myself. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I think you have to understand why the requirement is there to begin with. At least, this is my feeling so please humor me for a minute or two. The USPA licensing requirements are not simply merit badges to be earned for bragging rights, they are levels of demonstrated proficiency and knowledge that progressively grant privileges to the jumper so that he or she may participate in different activities. Some of these activities require higher levels of proficiency and training otherwise, history has shown that they are below a certain threshold of safety. For example; Among the different things that a D License allows a person to do is participate in Open Field and Level 1 demos. Because demos can be held at various times, including night, it would be wise to require a certain level of night training and proficiency. thanks for backing up my earlier post, as I said on some night jumps I have chose to land way from the "lighted landing" area it is very good practice for those of us that do night demos BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW, SHIT HAPPENS, and being hung out in the dark(long spot, strong uppers) is no time to lose your cool, demo or no demo.sink or swoop? I'll take the canopy that I can sink into a back yard or a rooftop or the parking lot at the quickie mart. damm good example! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

wish I had a nickel for every AFF lv-1-2 & tandems I have videoed way into the twilight, dark on landing, and the dzo & the s&ta were the jm's, happens more then people want to admit! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

on count one, i never made the statement that we should "change the rules" what i did say was i wish night jumps would not be required for a D license. and on another note, a side bar if you will, if i wanted a "D" license without doing the night jumps, i could get it easily. (could have had it a long time ago, and never said anything about not actually having done them or not) so your point of saying you don't agree with people who want the license, but don't want to do the work to get it is invalid in this particular circumstance, i can assure you, there are a lot of jumpers out there with "D's" who've never made a night jump in their lives. and why would you ask me to "chill" i'm totally composed, and not screaming or shouting or namecalling, etc...we'll just have to agree, to dissagree. trust me, sometime this year, i will have my night jump requirements fullfilled, and a "D" license in my possession, without "pencil whipping" it. not my style. but, it will be done at the right time, under the right circumstances, but i can assure you, it won't be in an unlit area, and there will be a well lit sky with a full moon. *** first agreed to disagree. second I can respect the fact that you have the balls to NOT "pencilwhip" it as so many do, sounds like you have a good plan stick to it, you may find that jumping under the full moon is way cool and easy to see a lot ( not as easy as daytime) but you can see other jumpers in FF & under canopy (unless it's all black canopy). lighted landing area is a very good idea, but one might want to think about what kind of canopy they have on their back, you might not make it to the lighted landing area, you going to swoop your 88vx into a pitch black something? or sink in a 220 fury in to a black hole? I'll take the sink over the swoop! safe swoops or sink bro you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

DUDE chill NO ONE is bashing you because you don't want to jump at night! I however will bash anyone who feels that "we" need to change the rules they don't like to suit thier needs for a license they want with out having to do the work to get it. as said before safe jumping to you in any lighting. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

yes I'm sure you are aware of this, but other may not be as aware as you. And yes I do believe you could have had it a long time ago by making the jumps or by signing your check as many do. I said "people" whine & cry not "you" whine & cry however I guess in a way I did, there seems to be a lot of folks that feel the way you do, that "we" should change the rules to fit your needs, just as there a lot who feel the way I do. If you don't want to meet the requirements for the license then you don't want the license that bad.if you don't want to do night jumps man that is fine with me I will not call anyone a pussy for not doing it! As for jumping with or with out lights makes no difference to me have done both, sometimes I chose to land away from the lights in the pitch black no big deal about it anyway it's good practice never know might have to land out on a night demo sometime. peace dude you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

***i don't EVER plan on jumping out of a jumpship at night time. i wish they would cut this requirement out of the D license requirement, it's all that's standing between me and the "D".*** maybe we should give away an "A" license with one jump as well, people who whine and cry about this don't need to have a "D". just like if you can't stand up on all ten jumps to get a pro rating, well then you don't get the rating! however if you jump at the right dz all you need is your check book and a beer and you can get your D license & pro and never have to make any jumps! ask uspa they will point you to those group member dzo's that take payoffs there are more then one around... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Anybody ever use a headhunter vortex?
stratostar replied to airdrew20012001's topic in Photography and Video
I had a HeadHunter for short time don't remember the model it had a draw string to pull it tight to your head man did it suck, twice the release stuck after landing took forever to get the thing off ! I don't think you would have much luck ditching it if one had too, stay away from that one! DB
