  1. That is all part of the test is knowing where to find the info, looks like you need to study harder! ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  2. Coming to Florida in a few months, I would really like to try jumping the paracommander/papillon or something similar. Does anyone here know someone who can help me accomplish this? ................................................................................quote "The Richmond Boys" Flying Circus in Richmond Indiana. They have the largest collection of jumpable paracomander rigs that I know of in the USA, and jump them regularly. They have PAP's,27ft russians,comp's,jumbos,Mk-2's,MK-1's around 30 of them all ready to jump. So if you REALLY want to jump one screw Florida, go north about 1000 miles.
  3. Did you ever try a rear riser flare? I'm 200 out the door and get stand up's more then I pound on my MK-1, this summer I did 10 and stood up 8 of them.

  5. YEA, there are a few that come to mind, I know at least 3 or 4 jumpers who failed to pass the AFF rating 3 times in a row, but are out there doing just this/" take a student with two or three "training tandems" on a single JM harness-hold jump." Even though some are USPA members and rating holders but jump at non GM dz's, it's ok to do it because the dzo said so. Their thinking is if it's so bad to do why haven't we killed anyone doing it.... ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  6. If I had the money to redo my system (MX-1,title2000) I would go with the MX-1 pro-dv, so input and output are firewire. But for the cost of the pro-dv thats a lot of bread but it would be the way to go in the long run. Panisonic also has some editing boards out there I have seen at dz's but not used myself. I have used the MX-1 a lot and find it to be easy to use and fast as hell for TDM,AFF vids. When doing realtime work it helps to have done most editing with the record button on the camera first,(you can't film 5 min of upside down grass because you forgot to turn off the cam) So all you need to do is replay tape and add trans and music, takes only about 10 mins to do a TDM vid handed to the customer. I have seen them go for all price ranges on e-bay. Also you would need two TV's and a vcr, best to have two tv's as combos incase one vcr fails you got a back up already. Good luck and talk to clint (skydive moab) about his set up. Or PM me. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  7. Videonics MX-1,or MX-1 pro, or MX-1 pro-dv for simple transitions 4 chan input, one out. Videonics titlemaker 2000 to add text with trans. Search E-bay for above or google. And a audio mixer board can get a radio shack for about 40 bucks.PM Clint Mcbeth in moab he was using it with VHS & DVD. Not a bad system and done in realtime, read fast. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  8. A guy with only a tandem rating has no business taking anyone on a single-jumpmaster harness hold (read: AFF) jump. I find it fascinating that some people (in the USA) would think otherwise. (quote)............................................................. But it's ok,the dzo said so and their DZO is some kind of legend of the sport, hell they invented it (harness holds) and make up their own brand of rating as well and don't belong to the USPA GM anyway so there for they can do what ever they want to do to the unknowing student. LOL, I seen them kind be-fo. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  9. Jerry, Make sure you get a manual for the H/C you got so when you bring that to the loft it can get packed. No one at SWC has ever packed one that I know of. FYI you need the reserve packing inst. not real worried about the main canopy at this point, but any info you can get on the whole system will be a big help. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  10. What ever you do besure you can get rid of the helmet if needed, I don't think it is wise to jump without a cutaway system on the helmet, granted I did for a long time and never needed one, but better to have and not need, then to need and not have.
  11. By the way Stratostar, the first and last rig I owned - in 1981 - was a Stratostar (5 cell of course) in a Wonderhog with a round reserve. ................................................................................ And your worried about jumping a sabre. Do you still have it? I love my 1977 wonderhog, have a paracomander it fun rig to jump. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  12. Jeff, I have used two 170 sabres for jumping camera for the last ten years, one is almost that old, then other was custom made in 97, both are packed the same way (by me ONLY!) and I have never been spanked, the new one is a little harder(read brisk) some times(1 out of 10) when sloppy packing in to the bag. The old one (now on it 4th line set) is super soft and on heading every time! With all the folks these days who don't pack for them selfs all I can say is you get what you pay for. As for the others, I see a lot, if not most throw down a canopy then try to force the air out of zp, instead of taking a little extra time to do the job right. If people jumping sabres would pack better most hard openings wouldn't happen. thats not to say there are not a few bad apples out there. I have not weighed my camera set up, but everone who has picked it up would agree that is between 15 to 20lbs aprox. All I know is that with a heavy ass camera helmet on my head if the sabre was a shit canopy I would have sold them a long time ago because I'm to old to get whiplash everyday....
  13. Well there you go solve to issues at once and help people to boot.

  15. AMEN brother! Got two 170's and about 20lbs of shit on my head wouldn't use them for camera if it was a whacker! ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  16. Where are all the acid mesh rounds you want to go way? That would be a good use for them even if loaded light. Just a thought. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  17. I can neither confirm or deny said location, names will be changed to protect the offenders.LOL But I will say it did work. Anyone attempting such must use trained professionals and for gods sake besure to wrap the rope in the correct direction of prop rotation! 21. I used to just want the money, but now I care to work with those who want to learn, for me it's not about the money but I'll still take it.
  22. I don't mind teaching anyone, however if pointing out to someone where to get the info and they find it easier to throw five buck around instead of picking up the book and reading it, then they are not worth my time, fuck um! Step 1, read the manual. Step 2, apply what you learned.(open book is perferred) Step 3. have teacher inspect work.

  24. Yep, and if you can read at 8th grade level you can learn from the manual too, had this same person walked over and picked up the manual to any sport rig he would have found it, and I would have gladly inspected their work when done and not charged a dime to do so. Damm yuppies think they just pay their way through life. ` you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
