Sure do. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Sure, didn't heed the good advice to NOT get out in front of a wall (T-storm) cloud when I was a young jumper. Landed fine, but going backwards fast as hell, not much fun being under canopy with lightning and thunder and rain. That good enough for ya. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

How about, look at cutaway, place BOTH hands on it, look at silver handle, peel & pull cutway handle to arms extension and throw it away, (eyes never leave silver) reach and pull with both hands, throw away and ARCH. Never know when you might have a hard pull on both, two handed pull is better, IMHO. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I would agree, however you can't blame a newbie for their lack of common sense if they haven't been provided the right info to make a well informed judgement call, and you have others who say "you be ok, get on the load". Remember we're talking about someone who has 13 jumps, and he still has to trust in the others around him to help make a judgement call. So it would seem to me the "instructors/dzo" let this person(without an A lic.) (it takes 25 jumps min.) carry on getting on the load in those conditions. So who is more to blame? this STUDENT for being stupid, twice, or the people who let him manifest twice? (in those conditions) ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Non USPA DZ, they don't have to adhere to the SIMS. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Well I do understand your point. 200 jumps used to be a "D" lic., now it's 500. RWS and strong say 500 jumps min. USPA says 300 min. So at some point he has to learn to do it. Where we don't see eye to eye here is, just because his dad is a DZO is no reason to cut him slack on the rules. His posting seems to show an attitude like " I guess I'm a big exception to the rule. " And " I have more RW skills than some people have with 500 jumps" While that maybe or it may be a case of a bighead and ego. And no one telling him no due to the fact his dad is the DZO. He posted a question and it seems he don't like the answers he is getting, I'm sure your right, he will keep on keeping on with what he is doing. If and or when we read about him, he won't be the first self proclaimed hot shot big exception to the rules skydiver in the sport who thinks they can do as they please and fuck what the rules say. I've seem um come and seen um go, the last hot shit know it all I seen go you also couldn't tell anything to after a few ratings and 1000 jumps, well he killed a TI last year by not following the rules as well. So what are we to do about it? Provide the info and advice, and if some one don't like what they read/hear their going to do as they please anyway and there is nothing we can do about it as long as "DADDY" and the rest of the gang let it happen, if your one of the "gang" and you get take'n out by this self proclaimed big exception well sorry about your luck, you should have taken a stand and said NO! Packing Jarrett- Sorry kid not trying to bash you at all, your right I don't know you or jump with you, but you got a lot of growing up left to do maybe you should step back and look at the big picture, slow down a little, learn some more be the best you can be and don't let a big ego write a check your ass can't cash. 50 camera jumps ain't shit, when you have 500 or 1000 of them and are standing on the other side of the fence, some self proclaimed big exception is going to come along and then you will understand better what and why others have said what they said to you, as you find your self repeating the same things once told to you by others. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

What is a better camera, Canon 10D or Rebel XT
stratostar replied to clint's topic in Photography and Video
I had a 10d thought it was a good cam till it bounced, then I got a 20d to replace it, I find it to be way faster then the 10d and 8mp. If your going to get a 10d spend the extra cash and get the 20d, in the long run you'll be happy you did. It will run circles around the 10d or XT. IMHO ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Nope had mine(3 of them) for 3 or 4 years now. The only time their jumped is when I have a cam attached, and I keep my helmet stored when not in use, I also use them with other photo tripods and they get a lot of use putting on and taking off cam's. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Billy Webber gave us his dad's SST racer with a MK-1 main in a D-bag, packed just like that. I'm ready to put the rig back together after a going over/wash/repair ect, but before I do that I'm going to make a couple extras for some other rigs we have, sure beats using the POD I have now in my wonderhog turned sideways, and smaller too. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Vallerina and I had SEX and we are in LOVE!!

Two years ago you started down the right path. Asking questions. Some where along the way over the last two years you got off the right path. Now your back and trying to get the right info with the wrong equipment or at least not all the parts needed to do the job you would like it to do. I happen to agree with Mr. Rich, you want us to take you serious and provide you with info, yet you post a stupid/silly title looking for answers to something serious, jumping a camera is no joke! If your going to get into the game you better have your shit together and you better have a safe set up before you step out the door. Your post title would leave some to think that you feel this is all fun and games and something to be taken lightly. While your title might have been ok for the bonefire it don't fly over here! If you want people here to take you seriously, then you need to act like it. It would seem that you need to do a better job of doing your homework first, like you started to do two years ago, instead it seems as if you ran out and got a helmet and a camera without knowing what the fuck your doing or having a clue as to what to get and how to set it up to do the job. Do you really think any TI's are going to let you in the air with them when you come off in the manner as you do. Now your welcome to tell me to blow you or to fuck off too, that's fine. But you really need to do a better job of learning a little about what your trying to get into before something comes up and bites you in the ass. Your not the first person I've seen get in a hurry to fly camera and get the wrong equipment because they didn't do their homework in the first place or listen to the people in the know as to what to get. Two years ago you got a lot of good advice as to what to get and how to do the job. What part of that advice did you not learn from? Good luck.... ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
You could build a pod real easy, I would lone you one of mine to use as a pattern. I have a sleeve I'm not using right now, but I don't want to sell it or give it way, it came with my first rig that I still have. I would lone it to you as well for a pattern and or a few jumps, but you have to send it back. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

1. Buy the right tools for the job! ie, a brain bucket made for top mountng a camera. 2. make or buy a top plate and install it on that helmet,(hint) you can buy a skydance/bonehead top plate. 3.know what your doing before you go and buy a camera and helmet and then ask on the internet WTF to do to set up your gear. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Try packing it the way the PD manual says too. The nose is split folded 3 times, not rolled, and then pushed in the center some. Be easy with setting it down on the ground, don't flop it down, take your time getting the air out of the canopy as well. Doing both will help to not undo your flakes and nose folds. Make sure you have a good line stows as well, a stow should let go with about 12 to 14 lbs pull force. And make sure your stow is not to short. These are the most common mistakes I see people make in packing. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Are there any Crossbow sleeves out there? Haven't seen any yet, but some old timer has to have one in the attic. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

It can over hang some as long as the over hang don't go past the out cropping of the ears or riser strike area. I had a trv 525 set up the same way, it is twice as wide as your 19, it put the still over hang out some, but less then the riser strike area. I copied JD Hill's set up at the time and talked to him a lot about it. Good luck with the build. ~ ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Here is one way. Could be your vid cam is to wide to do it as I have posted. Then again it might work ok. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

How many jumps before camera died?
stratostar replied to Shyandinnocent's topic in Photography and Video
I have a sony trv 525 that has always been top mounted with out a box or condom and has been jumped for 9+ years now with out any issues. I would say it would have a lot to do with how well you take care of your camera, when in use and when not in use. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
NO, I have NEVER had a problem gettin a cessna load in the air when there is 20 jumpers at the dz, EVER! But I did have a run in with those rare-a-fide air molecules once. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

VEEDUB in da house, vee going to pimp your auto!

Maybe they don't like you? Maybe your one with the really rank assfarts and you stink up the whole plane and no one wants to ride in da plane with you anymore, or it could just be you have bad breath. Maybe you have an ugly rig, hell maybe your just ugly over all. Maybe there was rare-a-fide air molecules that afternoon causing canopies to suddenly dive at the ground and have no flair power so people didn't want to take a chance. But I could be wrong, it may be all of the above. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I would disagree with that statement, I use a mac and can do a tandem video fast. I can get done in the same time frame as when I used a MX-1 and sound mixer, but with a far better video in the end. While some DZ's have their own editing stuff a lot don't, a self contained video set up is the way to go. you have all your own stuff, no waiting for the other guys to get done and off the editor or have to figuare out what some dumbass did to mess up the system or fix what they deleated ECT. A laptop would be key for someone who is going to travel a lot. Then there is still photos too, I can burn a disk of stills while importing my video and be done with the stills before I even start to edit the video. P.S. 95% of the video should be pre-edited with the on off button, put in your trans and some music and burn a DVD, not much real "editing" to do. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I think 45.00 is a fair price for all the work it takes to do it the right way. The wash takes some time to do and putting back together takes time too. At least anyone who has me do it has not bitched about the cost and they have been very happy with the service, most can't believe how clean I got the rig. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

You would be surprised to know how many people do take their rigs to the car wash and blast the shit out of them. One of the people I worked under to get my ticket used to do it that way, I never liked how the rig looked after and blasting high pressure water and soap into it just didn't make sence to me. And seeing all the shit in the stalls in most car washes never seemed like a good idea to get any of that crap on a rig. The car wash is the lazy mans way of doing it half ass. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I charge 45 USD. Correct, but this don't cover a repack or inspection or repairs, just the washing. I have seen as high as 55.oo USD for a wash. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
