I understand what your saying, it can be done as long as you stay out of the "cone of danger" top or bottom, had the C-man in the midair been playing by the rules it wouldn't have happened,IMHO. What sizes are you looking for? how much would you like ot spend, APPX, all of this would help those of us who are reading your post and might have just what your looking for sitting at the dz and with in your buget. It should be ALL about the person paying for it and the people they will show it to, NOT about how cool of a camera flyer you are! Oh really, for all of two seconds. Yea with a bottom loader that is why we use the QR then you take the thumb screw off and take the tape out. It is fast and easy to do. And fast and easy to reattach it and keep the camera lined up too. This is one reason why people with bottom loaders use a QR. Sure as hell isn't as big of a deal as you make it out to be. You don't need to open before the TDM to get shots like that. You can get the opening shot and then dump and still be just a little below them, by the time you get your shit together and stowed, the tandem can come down to you, just make sure your not right under them when you deploy, that way if they have to cutaway your not in the way. I get a lot of shots of them under canopy and a lot of time follow them all the way down doing no contact "crew" type formation flying, if you jump a hotrod canopy, forget about it. Those of us on the outside would have a hard time giving an answer right now, I don't think we know the scope of how many people were pencil whipped and or misrigged. The extent of the violations would change my answer,as to what should be done to him. There is at least a good size fine heading his way and having his ticket taken for some time if not forever. If only it would go that easy, however I personally know it wouldn't go that easy and there would be a lot more looking into our records and matching data and times and places ect, even with people not involved,ie your data card. While we maybe able to prove we didn't pack it, we are left to deal with the cops and feds while your dead ass is laying out in the dirt! So why would anyone want to put their rigger and or friend(s) thur that whole deal in the first place. If you don't want to pay for a repack or want to pencil pack, get your own damm ticket at least then it would be your dead ass in the dirt with your seal and sig on it. If people make it clear to riggers that doing so is wrong and they will turn them into the the feds for doing so, and stop acting like it's ok to ask your rigger to do it, then riggers won't be doing it. As long as people think it is ok to pencil, and riggers go along with it, we will have riggers out there like the dude that got busted. I agree with you to a point, I 'm not a fan of pencil packing any rig for reasons like some one tampering with a rig, it has happened before, it has happened to my rig and to my wifes rig, I am a rigger and can pencil our rigs anytime I want to, but I don't do that, I might open it up and make sure the risers have not been cut and the pack job still looks good and close it, but I don't just whip it and go on. I know other riggers who have done and do the same thing this guy was nailed for, that is why I think it is funny when people would sign their cards and trust there is nothing wrong from before, seen many fuck up's found at the next repack.
