Sure, if you got an extra R-985 laying around and someone with the time to hang it. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

There is always a pre-registration on line as well as at the gate "on site registration" as well. I don't know for sure what the "on site" cost is maybe 5 more? It seems to be the case in years past. Hope that answers your question. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

The kit lens, canon 18 to 55mm, I think. But you would more then likely want a sigma/canon fixed 15mm wide angle lens. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I'm have never put one on scale, I have owned and jumped both a 10-d and 20-d w/ a sigma 20mm or a canon 18-55 lens. As itdiver has said it is the glass (lens) where the weight comes from. I can tell you that with a 20 in one hand and a Xt in the other ( no lens ) there is a noticable amount of weight between the two, the XT being very light. With that said, I went with the 10 & 20 body's because I wanted a tough camera, and the XT seemed to plastic to me, but they seem to holding up well. I have both ( Vid-still ) top mounted side by side for ballance and to keep the weight centered on the spine, ie- no forward CG. As for building a new helmit, there are some good used FTP's & FTN's in the classifieds right now. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

That may be true now, but once you get a set up you just might become one of us. I can understand forking out hard earned money for toys, but if you going to spend some, better to get something proven and that will last a while and do the job you want it to, the XT is proven and will do what you want, and it is light weight, cost is cheap. Again good luck and shop around some. As for the 10-d PM deuce or read the rebel xt thread a few down from this one. What is more important to you cost or MP? 10-d 6.3 -500 body only- VS-XT 8MP 650+ w/lens ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

DSE in your line of work I'm sure you can understand most times it don't pay to go the cheap route with cameras and glass, this has been my experience in the past. If you can't afford a rebel xt right now it would be best to save up some more till you can. and the prices will keep dropping over time as you know. As a side note I did see deuce post he would sell his canon 10-D for 500.00, in the rebel XT thread. http://cgi.ebay.com/Canon-Rebel-XT-Digital-Camera-OES-350D-w-Lens-NEW_W0QQitemZ170014302660QQihZ007QQcategoryZ107900QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Good luck and shop around some. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

What we didn't scare you off those the last time. But of course, the round loads have been tradition for, well 18 years now, this will be the 19th annual, weather permitting of course. ~ ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Where are you stationed? I would say to first seek out one of the many military clubs around the country, they used to have free jumps for active duty, at least for experianced jumpers, this may or may not save you a bundle cash. If that don't work out then it comes back to where you are as to point you to a sport DZ. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I said that, because we have a DVD recorder the MAC don't see it, but because we already have the cam pluged in to import, we just send it out to recorder via the cam. This is with TDM vids, so there short. But it works fine as long ass you remember to protect your tape, unless you want it on tape too. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
-
You could always export it and pass it through your camera to your recorder. Just make sure you protect your tape so as to not record onto the tape. I have had to do this in order to record with a unit the mac did recognise, worked just fine. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Bustin an FAR is bustin an FAR, don't matter if your cloud jumping or jumping non TSO'd gear or using shit fuel, your still bustin an FAR. I never said you did try defend him. However I will defend Mr. Peek's actions in this case, a skydiver looking out for skydiving we are after all are a "self policing" sport, my guess is the Fed's would see it that way, self policing, Mr. Peek tried to express the rules to the BASE guy, who on his own accord has already shown he didn't give a shit about FAR's by trying to "get packed to make the load" and by bringing a BASE rig to a skydiving event and trying to jump it in the early morning when he though no one would see him. So who better to set him stright then the FAA, that is their job to explain the rule book to those who don't get it or seem to understand them. Good. Having been on an AC with an asshat who wore a BASE rig with 3-rings and a cutaway handle on to a jumpship then sat with his back to the wall so no one could see he had no sport rig on till he jumped out at 600 agl, I really don't think a hot air pilot would really know what he is looking at if the rig looked like the rig asshat had on. I enjoy skydiving and don't condone some lowlife self centered BASE fuckhead doing act's that can hurt my sport and a pilot who is there to provide skydivers with a chance to jump his balloon. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Gee wiz, I guess it never crossed your mind that in fact there are some FAA inspectors who skydive and are also parachute riggers, there for they are part of the family, like it or not! As for running to the FED's instead of manifest it would depend on what your reporting. If your going to run to them everytime a jumper bust a cloud, then your a dumbass. However if you see perris valley staff doing the same fuel swapping act like in 92 I would hope you would go talk to the FED's, if you don't your really a dumbass! WHY? because if they are doing it again they didn't learn the first time around, so what makes you think your expressing a concern is going to stop them this time. To diablopilot, No blackeye, it shows that we as jumpers are looking after our sport. As for crackpots the FED's already know this, that's why the FAR's say you have to jump using XYZ rig, no where in that FAR it say's you have to open any canopy, (it's not a FAR violation if you bounce,no pull) but if you bounce in a backyard and takeout some kid on a swing set, their going to nail the pilot of dropping a body on a kid. (endangering people and property on the ground) the FED's don't care if you kill yourself, only if you kill someone else while killing yourself. To everyone slaming Mr.Peek, It has been painfully obviously for many, many years now that the BASE crowd seem to think there above the law, you tresspass, B&E, property damage ECT. Show a total disrespect for other peoples rights and property, risk our sport and others way of making a living by jumping out of AC, when one of your own bounces you call 911 and run off like a bunch of cowards, because your tresspassing ect. Then you whine a cry because you can't jump El'cap and the like, guess what, you stupid fuckers are the reason us law abiding citizens can go to El' cap and jump it and the main reason it is outlawed is because of the total lack of respect your peers have shown over the years in that park. A lot of you need to clean up your act! IMHO To bad more of you can't have the outlook Tom A. seems to have. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Maybe you feel it is the role of our government to save people from themselves? *** Had you worked with your local FSDO, you would know that it is NOT their job to "save us from us" they could care less about saving your ass, thier job is to save the "us" from you! Good work Peek, thanks for looking out for skydiving. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

sounds like you had a good teacher and old school too. I still teach this way of doing EP's. One other thing to think of would be the large amount of jumpers who have never had a cutaway and are jumping some hot canopies today, that can in them selfs can cause a hard pull just from spinning mal's. or spinning mal's with line twists as well. A hard pull could be "hard" just trying to get your hands to the handles to pull them....not the force needed to pull them or it could be both. Just something to think about ya all. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

You forgot the part about, and really stupid of me to get out. But I did follow a more experianced jumper on that dive, who asked me if I wanted to get out, while others were saying NO WAY. ~ you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
