The point I was trying to make was not about probabilities or statistical norms, the sound of one hand clapping or does a bear piss in the woods. Just throwing it out there that the date picked by the hijacker might have personal significance or picked for a reason. Which is something we will likely never know, so obviously not worth discussing. On the other hand, since as far as I can tell validity has never been a prerequisite for posts in this particular twilight zone, this one is no less valid than a thousand others posted on this journey through the rabbit hole.

I may be wrong, but it seems the general consensus is that Cooper picked this flight - or at least this plane because of the aft stair opening. But the recent comments about the timing of the hijack are very interesting. Thanksgiving: Banks closing on the one hand so employees could take off for Thanksgiving day, number of passengers likely to be on plane Thanksgiving eve (more or less??), likelihood of air marshall being on board (were they that common then?), number of law enforcement available on Thanksgiving eve, likelihood of parachute places being open - (so parachutes might have to be procured from military base?), media attention - depending on how you look at it either less (I'm assuming that media folks have families too) or greater (slow news day - lots of publicity - 15 mins of fame) Two questions for discussion if anyone cares to ponder: On the timing - do you guys think he knew these variables and planned around / used them to his advantage or did he just roll the dice and say I'm gonna hijack the plane - one day is as good as another?? Stephanie, Your father's Vietnam pictures are a great shot in time. Composition /Quality / subject matter of many of them seems quite good to me. I hope that you continue with your cataloguing and captioning of them - maybe we'll see them in a photo essay book one day. And... if nothing else, they have reached another audience that woudn't have seen them if not for the Cooper conundrum.

No. My point was not that there is or is not a tv show. Like you I also find it pretty amazing that there is not an "official" website for Amazing Stories/Unbelievable or a listing on a tv schedule. But that is not what you said in your posts. You said NO references, using words like nada, nothing, zilch, virtual impossibility. And that was just incorrect. There are plenty of "references". Others responses to you lately have people posting that you are being treated unfairly. I'm just pointing out that maybe it is a two way street and your approach on this and other absolutes that you've advocated, as well as your not so nice posts about others who have a different view (Galen Cook comes to mind) might be a reason that some are confrontational in kind. Just an observation...like I said no offense. I appreciate that you put your money where your mouth is...and I guess it's your right to be insufferable. So carry on

I don't remember seeing this video. From the angles I have previously seen I also thought the buried parachute was in better condition than this video shows. Definitely not in "near-perfect" condition (unless your standards for perfection are really really low......or you have a death wish -- sure don't think I'd wanta jump with that one)
