I was re-reading the transcripts the other day and noticed that the crew was told (twice i think) to exit the aircraft from the front and not to touch anything on the aircraft. According to the transcript the pilot stated that they would exit down the back stairs since there were no front steps and they did not want anyone to come out to the plane. They had already made a cursory check and no briefcase was seen. I wonder why they did this - against recommendation. They were going to wait for transportation at the front of the plane. So.......if transportation was coming out to pick them up anyway, and they were going to wait at the front of the airplane (I'm assuming within reach of any shrapnel that might have hit them had a bomb exploded), what was the point in walking down the back steps against recommendation - possibly contaminating any evidence that might have been left? but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Hominid said: Maybe a size limit. I tried reading FAQs when I signed up, but the link was bad (URL not even proper form). Size limit would be a good possibilty where my post is concerned. Could be, but I thought it usually tells you that?? Maybe not. I have clicked preview post before and then clicked out before clicking post reply on the far right. And lost everything I posted. Jo calls that going "poof". I call it operator error.

I guess you can, but I don't put "new". I just press reply, delete the subject line and replace it with my new topic. Then type my post in the box. I think the red NEW is a system thing. It appears on the thread if you haven't read that post yet. It disappears the next time you refresh. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Kinda crazy but I've never found that button either. I just hit reply and replace subject. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

GEE. Bet Detroit sold some tequila that night as soon as folks were able to go to the lav and clean up. So my limited knowledge take away: The pilot did something that made the plane go into this crazy freefall dive, but also was able to do something to re-stabilize it at 5000 feet. 2 questions: 1) Did i read that right? 2) I know they said they didn't, but do you think the pilot or crew erased the CVR or not? but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

funny I thought about you this summer when I was in MA. A friend and I were going to try a skydive. Got about halfway there and we chickened out. Something about needing to go buy shoes instead. I'm just a wussy I guess. I'm confused again. You thought about me because you were buying shoes in MA? Oh no wait - that's creepy. I bought shoes last time I was there. You were having me followed? 377 is right - you'll jump when it's time. It's even more fun than buying Louboutins You could always get a gentle intro through some tunnel flight, but (ah i miss it) nothing quite like the sensation of letting go of a plane ... lol...I was telling my friend about the dropzone forum and showing her some posts and one of yours stuck out. Forget what it was about, Might have been your sig line

I am waiting for the FBI to prove you are not Farflung. Until that day I'll have to assume that you are. 377 No need for the FBI to show proof. I personally do not feel the HunkYness! Green is not the Farf! Hey 377, I am getting ready to pass the bar. Unfortunately, I never get past the third barstool!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97IQyeh12Ns That video brings back memories. Of course most of those memories are rather vague............and the rest I try to keep corralled in the back forty of my brain.... along with other stuff (like 5th grade) that I'd just as soon not remember. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

RobertBlevins said Just a hunch, but, personally, me thinks you're jumping without a parachute again. Cool commercial, though. Maybe you should quit googlin and get to work on those deadlines you keep talking about before Gayla fries your butt. I'm sure that the knowledge that you won't take Farflung seriously now will haunt him for the rest of his days, but maybe he'll survive. Farflung said: Good post. Naturally, you said it much better than I did. Learned something new too -- I didn't know about Lou Eppolito. Goodfellas is one of those movies that I always have to watch again if I catch a glimpse of it while channel surfing. I got this thing about Ray Liotta.

lol and sighing...It's time that he may want to qualify his credentials? Earth to Blevins.... This is an internet garden about DB Cooper that Dropzone has graciously allowed a plot of land. Overall, some very interesting conversational plants struggling against weeds and way too much "fertilizer". One has only to register and be granted access as far as I know. Don't have to be anything or from anywhere. In most cases, facts, fallacies, and conclusions (or lack thereof) speak for themselves. If they are full of manure, as you can attest, they are usually swiftly debunked. Not saying that more weight wouldn't be given a particular conclusion based on someone's "qualifications" -- but it's really not necessary if the post can stand on its own. That said....Hunkyness stands on its own

Would you mind telling us what this next promised blockbuster event is Jo? If it won't be done here, where should we look and when? Do you stay on touch with the "Night Clerk"? Hope his health and yours take a turn for the better. 377 Jo, Did you ever respond to 377? And btw.....something I'm really curious about...... If you were to get verifiable info tomorrow that proved that Duane was Cooper, and the FBI said yeah, he was the guy - aside from gloating for a while - what would your next step be? But before you respond to this I'd like to know your answers to 377's questions. Don't want it to get lost in the shuffle.

It's been said that your quote has been widely attributed to Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, but I think it's been "purloined" by others. I love Mark Twain and his quotes, A quick google lookup revealed these..... that could easily fit several of our DB Cooper cast of characters.... "Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please" "Don't part with your illusions. When they are gone you may still exist, but you have ceased to live." "Facts are stubborn things, but statistics are more pliable." "Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities. Truth isn't." "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education." "I don't give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way." Just biding time til Georger gets back to us with his take on the money trail. Hope the dine and roses worked!

Jo - You keep talking about choice. So I say the same thing to you as to Jerry - quit talking about it and do it. No more excuses. It is also your choice to keep interacting with Jerry (code word for baiting) on this forum. No one forced you to do anything. As far as Carr - The very fact that you feel you have to make statements about the role that you did or did not play in Carr's firing/ demotion/ transfer/ leaving the forum/ whatever should make you realize that words can harm. At the very least, the perception (created by your own postings and emails) is there. I don't for one moment think that Jerry Thomas is a physical threat to you. All I attempted to do with my Posts #26577 and 26584 was to harken Jerry to the way posts can come across to the objective observer. Much like the very sound advice Orange1 recently gave to you and Blevins: "Blevins - Cooper may be a small part of your life but as has been pointed out - it doesn't really change the perception of your arguments here. You, like Jo, need to get someone with an objective eye to read over your posts and see the way they come across to a disinterested individual." As Mr. Green noted, there are free upload sites where you can upload as much as 5 gb, maybe more. Esnips, fileden, filefactory are examples. Way too many to list. It's pretty easy - You upload the material to the upload website then you post a link to that website so others can access it. Free means ads usually, no biggie, but of course all of them have premium memberships. I have used fileden before for video files and mp3s. It works great. I can upload Jo's email to me about having SA Larry Carr fired - if you like !? Wont take any 5 gb. I am sure Jerry appreciates your 'help' but a major issue in this whole debacle is 'control', isn't it. And who has been controlling and seeking to control. There is a fine line between control and help. Maybe you should not give the appearance of controling also? Especially in favor of one party, when you dont know the history? Just a suggestion based on experience here. I have been registered on this forum since June 2008. Before that I was a frequent reader from the beginning. Jo doesn't get a free pass from me. Granted she brings most of this on herself with her diatribes, ranting, endless conspiracies and nut job postings. Not to mention her endless teases, her excuses as to why she can't post anything to back up those teases, and her gall to ask the folks that she publically disdains for help. And yes, if she had anything to do with Carr gettin transferred, that is beyond the pale. I personally would hate to think that the FBI would stoop to that based on anything Jo had to say. To quote an overused phrase, I have no dog in this fight. That said, while all of this might be entertaining to some, I personally think a broad line should be drawn when folks start talking about going to someone's home or location. But that's just me. I hope Jerry took my post in the constructive way it was meant. Jerry has posted many times that he will not respond to Jo. Then he can't help himself and digs right back in. Just trying to make him see that #1. It's pointless, and #2. It's too easy to get carried away by words on a forum. And words can come back to haunt you. If Jerry wants to publicize his conversations with her, then he should just do it. There's plenty of ways to do it on the internet. Or he could send copies to media outlets around the country. With the national interest in DB right now he could probably get prime time national coverage. I yield to 377's experience when he alludes to the fact that talks of lawsuits are ridiculous ramblings. Just saying.....I stand by my post to Jerry. My only regret is that I did not pm it to him instead of posting it. For that I apologize. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Jerry, Hope you take this with the spirit intended... You know I don't have a problem with calling out Jo when I think she's full of it, and I understand why you might be frustrated. But I have to say that it seems you are getting way too wrapped up in this back and forth with her. Maybe it's just the way you type your sentences, but your posts to her are coming across as a little threatening.., I sure wish you would cool it down some. Threatening to go to an elderly woman's home and show her a thing or two is a little over the top, don't you think? And maybe that's not what you meant, but it certainly comes across that way. If you and Jo would just quit responding to each other, you could peacefully co-exist on opposite sides of the US. Neither theory is gonna be proven or disproven by acting out on an internet forum. Not only that - it discrediits the forum and makes us all look like idiots for being party to it. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

For what its worth.... Looks like Engelbert Humperdinck regularly played the Sahara Tahoe in the fall of 1979. So far I see ads for August, September, October, December. (Ads did not have the dates) In November 22-28, he was slated to play at the MGM grand in Vegas. He played in Chicago September 11-16. I couldn't spend a whole lot of time on it, but maybe this will give you something to go on. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

As 377 as pointed out previously, there is some documentation that men from minimal security prisons were used to help fight fires -- clearing brush, digging trenches, etc. but not smoke jumping. Maybe that's where you got your idea from. I think I've read this too, but even if this is just an assumption, it would seem logical that most smoke jumpers would be recruited from folks that had experience or training in fighting fires. They had to know about about the mechanism of fires and the maneuvers to use to stop the fire. The jumping was a means of transport, right? -- fighting the fire was the true objective. Surely recruiters would rather have them know how to fight fires first and foremost - then they could be taught how to jump. To put Duane or any other prisoner in a smoke jumper's chute would assume that they had experience or training in fire fighting. That alone makes the whole scenario a bit of a stretch. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

I'm not going to opine on who is the better writer - aside from correct usage, grammar, punctuation, etc. the rest is personal opinion - and everyone's allowed at least one the last time I checked. But what you wrote above is pure illogical nonsense. To suggest that the number of articles you've written or hits to your site makes you better or more professional is like saying the number of Cracker Barrells on a road makes it a better highway to travel. Come on - look at visit numbers to some of the more inane youtube videos or other totally useless sites. And how many times have you followed a link to somewhere and then just as quickly clicked out of it? Not saying that you haven't accomplished something - the fact that you get up every day and pursue something that interests you is good enough proof of that. But you can't judge how good someone or something is by the number of posts you have on the internet -- or the number of hits/views said posts have on the internet. You, Gray, and Bruce got some free publicity out of this latest DB Cooper blitz. Hopefully you can shelf the pissing contest between you and Smith, et al and enjoy it while it lasts.

Several of us here have wanted the FBI to at least look at Mel's fingerprints - supposedly already on file since he has FBI number - since the day Vicki first came on here. Vicki said that Jerry Thomas said that Agent Ng said that Mel was discounted because Mel doesn't match the sketch?? I don't get it. #1. He matches as well as some of the others that have been checked. #2. Back then Carr asked for folks to come forward if they had someone that "disappeared" around that time. Vicki did just that. The case is either open or it's not. If it's open, then what's the big deal about checking Mel out? Farflung listed a bunch of reasons that Mel is at least on the "long list" - Post #19268 - if the FBI guys (we know you still read this forum - how could you not? ) need something to put on the requisition. Or you can just slip Mel's in with the rest of the bad guys in the "To Be Checked" stack. We'll cover for you if you get caught. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

If he had the match book why would he lean in close? IF he had the matchbook...Why did she light it? Another missing "s"? Were these matches supplied by Tina? She lit the cigarette. Sounds like a lovely work of fiction Someone remind me - was this meant to have happened before or after the other passengers had left the plane? I think before, but don't quote me. According to Bruce Smith (here we go again), Tina lit eight Raleigh cigarettes for him while he (DB) kept his hand on the bomb trigger. Hmmm.....Dominate hand (assuming) on the Dynamite trigger plus matches plus lit cigarettes in his (assumption) non-dominate hand. A multi-tasker. Scary stuff. Post 1, pg 72: She struck a match to one for him. Post 2, pg 73: When he ran out of matches, she used the ones she had. This singular vs multiple stuff is making my head hurt.

Seems (code for assumption) the names were interchangable and/or they used the singular for their airport restaurants/bars. I see job classifieds listed for Sky Chef, Inc. and an advertisement for a new years eve special at Sky Chef restaurant at the airport. The restaurant name has the little chef logo beside it.
