  1. I love the way she says bour-bon...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtKWlwrhcH4&feature=related but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  2. +1 Whatever the season means to you, I hope it is filled with lots of love, laughter, happiness, and hunkYness. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  3. I can't decide which is my favorite between Alastair Sims version and George C. Scott's. I always watch both. But there is no doubt that Jim Carrey is the best grinch there ever was. Add in It's a Wonderful Life and Christmas Story and you've pretty much got the grand slam of Christmas movies. There you go again.....If I remember correctly, you said you weren't going before Marla was even named as an attendee, but it's Christmas so I'm gonna leave the ole forum search function alone and let you slide on this one.

  5. No. Actually, sales dropped in August on Blast when Marla went public, although our other books did very well. Same thing happened to Geoff Gray with Skyjack. I watched his Amazon rankings drop. Don't know how Crown did wholesale on Gray's book, but I'm sure they weren't Marla fans, either. No, it was definitely the CNN article comments, I think, that boosted sales again. The article came out September 1, and sales jumped considerably on Blast after that. They slowed a bit in December, but September/October broke our monthly record for the book and November was not bad. Amazon more or less remains the same. Our REAL income is from wholesale sales of books, not retail through Amazon. Less than five percent of AB's revenue comes from them. I also got a few emails from people regarding the nasty comments. Nobody I knew, just people who had read the article. They were nice, and I answered them all. However...I won't lie. I was not happy seeing the same names of people on some of those article comments who have been civil to me on Dropzone. It was a big surprise. Sure, I was angry. I didn't realize there were so many phonies around here until I read them. Live and learn... Robert..I'm not sure which comments you are referring to because I only skimmed the page when it was first mentioned. However, you do know, don't you, that anyone can put any name on comments on sites like CNN, Fox, and other media sites as long as the name is not already taken. Sometimes you don't even have to give an email address. Just saying - I wouldn't get my panties in a wad about people here unless you know for a fact that they wrote it. The last time someone did this (don't remember who the target was that time) they posted a succession of flamer comments supposedly written by different folks on this site. I think it was concluded that the comments were not authentic. Now I'm not saying that a dropzoner is not playing games with names -- that could very well be -- but I don't think that most of the comments attributed to this forum's participants were actually made by the people on here. For example - if you've got 377 making nasty remarks about someone here in a comment on an article from another site, then you can pretty much make the case that he didn't write it. Just mho but I'm sticking with it until proven wrong.
  6. I couldn't get past this line.... "The body was identified as a skydiver because of the presence of an undeployed parachute at the scene." Good call Sherlock And this one..... "The company does not keep track of skydivers after they leave the plane, representatives said." I never thought about it but is that standard practice? Kinda like diving the barrier reef. lol...the FBI could borrow that line..."So why didn't you guys catch Cooper?" "The FBI does not keep track of hijackers after they leave the plane." but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  7. According to at least one news article of the time, the guy that found the placard was Carroll Hicks of Kelso, Washington. A Carroll C Hicks of Kelso, Washington is also listed in SSDI - Died Oct. 4, 1995 at age of 62. No time right now to dig further to see if it's the same guy but it'll give you a start. "There isn't any way that it could have come off a plane without the (rear) door being opened," said the Cowlitz County sheriff, Les Nelson. "We know that two days after Cooler jumped that the placard was missing off the plane." ……… ……..The placard was found about "six flying minutes" from where Cooper is believed to have jumped, said Nelson. It was found last November by an elk hunter, Carroll Hicks, of Kelso, near a Weyerhaeuser Co. logging road north of Ariel, said Nelson. From Seattle Daily Times, Jan 17, 1979. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  8. Like Quade says -- give his name. Bruce will no doubt jump on it. If you have determined that the FBI isn't gonna act on it - it's time to shit or get off the pot. You've said yourself that time is running out. So give the night clerk's name to Bruce or someone else who will follow up on his info. Otherwise give it up and go make some banana pudding. Hey, a legit hotel night clerk with info on Dan Cooper would be flippin huge. You, Jo, could create your own frenzy but you have to quit playing all these undercover games. At the very least Marla came out with all her stuff and didn't play a lot of mind games. Like her or not - she pretty much laid out what she knew or thought she knew and let the chips fall where they may. JO - The FBI is not going to read this forum and take action for you. Lay it all on the line - you have nothing to lose. No collateral damage. It's a 40 year old case and no one is gonna get a visit by the piano wire man. Even if it's a Bob Knoss conspiracy - no one gives a damn anymore. And, hey... if I'm wrong and they do - well - oops and too frigging bad. At some point you just have to say to hell with it. Just tell what you got to tell. It's the only way you'll get any traction on this before D Day. Otherwise...seriously, from someone who wants to see you happy at the dimming of the day..... Life is all about risks and it requires you to jump. Don't be a person who has to look back and wonder what they would have, should have, or could have done. Nothing waits forever. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  9. DB was featured in a jeopardy question tonight.
  10. lol...sorry snowmman beat you to it in 2009, fyi...there's a search function at bottom of page. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  11. It was low class and did not even NEED to be revealed to the public. Agree with the above. While the background of a potential Cooper would certainly be open to scrutiny, this is not the case for the "informant" ( for lack of a better word). Jo/Duane is a good example: Duane's past misdeeds/actions are open to scrutiny. Jo's (if there were any, which I do not think so) should be off-limits. +1. Orange, though I think it depends on what past behavior you're looking at...for example if Marla had a history of perpetuating fraud or scams, I'd say that was fair game. But as far as i know, she doesn't. Plainly speaking, her personal relationships are no one's business but her own. As far reverting to her maiden name - if I were trying to capitalize on the Cooper saga (as she herself has essentially said outright) - I think I'd do the same thing. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  12. The way I understand it is anyone's welcome at any time and, depending on how they act, Quade decides whether they can stay or not.
  13. Was this posted on here before? I know I've seen that creepy pic of DB Cooper smokin in the window somewhere. http://ifanboy.com/articles/exclusive-oni-press-announces-new-ongoing-the-secret-history-of-d-b-cooper/ but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  14. Not that it matters in the scheme of things but I don't think this (the part in bold) is accurate. The only reason I point it out is because you've made this claim several times. I know you said it, and everyone wants to be the first to figure out the puzzle or find the elusive fact, but it wasn't completely missed and I'm pretty sure it had been brought up before - maybe it was before you started posting here. ...course i could be wrong
  15. Me too! My first pilot at the first drop zone I owned was an astronaut. She flew jumpers for me while she was in graduate school and just before joining NASA. Here is a picture she sent to my daughter: http://berniesayers.com/Marsha2.jpg Wow...did I read correctly that she was on 5 flights? I know people probably hate this word but that's awesome. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  16. Yeah I've seen several blast off and took the bus tour to see all the cool stuff. All the trivia they tell you about the inner workings is fascinating. When they started doing the lottery thing with the good watch site tickets I never got a chance to get one again. Though once I did what the natives do and parked on the side of the highway along the river and watched. For some reason no one i ever dragged along with me on the 5 hour trip to get there enjoyed it quite as much as I did. Party poopers. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  17. Off topic, except it involves a really big plane and indirectly, Seattle. Will be pretty cool - that is if we make it past that dreaded Dec 2012 Mayan apocalypse thing (don't laugh - I saw it on the History channel)
  18. I concur. lol..Steady there Farf...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Z6alLSfabw....or we might have to do an intervention. Get you back in touch with your inner nun. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  19. My other skepticism re: Marla. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt as to whether she is telling the truth of what she "believes" happened in 1971, but....sorry... I find it extremely hard to buy that she didn't know about "jumpzone" (as she calls it) or had never visited it before Saturday (when someone sent her the link due to Blevins cartoons and postings) as she infers on her FB page. After posting that someone had sent her the link, one of her subsequent statements was ....NOW that she's seen it, she doesn't see a need to revisit. Hmmmm. Soundin kinda sketchy..making the hinky (that's hinky, not hunk(y)) needle shake... But that's just me....I could be wrong Oh yeah ....she said to give her regards to Farflung.
  20. I've been wondering the same thing. Hope all is well. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  21. I'm keeping an open mind with a healthy dose of skepticism. Like I mentioned in a prior post the guitar strap picture is intriguing, but..... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4233177;#4233177 and here http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4233374;#4233374 Not to mention what someone else brought up (they didn't post it so I won't say who it was unless they want me to) -- the logistics of leaving Sisters and being in Portland with black suit and shades on by midday?? in order to buy that ticket, board that plane, and hand over that note at 3 pm-ish. What time does Marla say they left the house? What time was the ticket bought? All that said...I do have to wonder what LD's immediate family thinks about all of this. His wife and kids, specifically. For all I know, they may love the attention, but from the scarcity of articles featuring them, one has to wonder what they think of Marla's walk down memory lane? but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  22. Here's an interesting article on the Cooper Clan and a later picture of LD. (labeled as him, that is). It's from August, but I must have missed seeing it..... http://www.bendbulletin.com/article/20110806/NEWS0107/308069999/ http://www.bendbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20110806/NEWS0107/308069999&template=flashgallery&no_audio=1&use_subhed=1&append_connected=0 I bet Irene was one tired Mama.
  23. Off DB topic but these two google hits on Martin J. McNally are kind of interesting.... http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=gMFJAAAAIBAJ&sjid=rxANAAAAIBAJ&pg=3949,5826574&dq=martin+mcnally&hl=en http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=AQE1AAAAIBAJ&sjid=Dk8KAAAAIBAJ&pg=3239,2574463&dq=martin+mcnally+hijack&hl=en but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  24. I shoulda known -- two for the price of one. You have the answer and make me laugh too. So much for my gut feelings, huh? Next time I'll take my little purple capsule before I spout off.
