This is cool. Do you have a picture at 7000 ft? Like I said - I'm not saying janet's not full of it - and I doubt too that she saw "a Man" but I don't necessarily discount that she saw something illuminated against the backdrop of a plane. Just want more information. For example, minutes before in the transcripts, the plane was at 7000, the aft stair light was on and they were wondering if he's still back there. So.....it's just not as cut and dried to me. Which brings me to.....I thought no one was sure of the exact path.....has that changed? Transcripts tell elevation, but just wondering how you determined what area the plane was over at any given time. From the transcripts I guess you'd know where they were at certain points ....but even with that there could be variations of miles, right? So are you doing all variations? Just curious. thanks but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Thanks, MrShutter. Who knows, if you have enough information, maybe your simulator will show that it was impossible for her to have even seen the plane at her location. That's what I'm talking about. Can't wait to see your results. Was it 8:10 - 8:52? I don't remember if any times have ever been talked about, but she says in this article that they were taking the kids to the baby sitters before going out for dinner. I don't know -- we usually like to get an earlier start than that around here. You know so the food doesn't interfere with the buzz you're planning on getting later. lol.....btw.....lots of folks say logic says he's DOA too. Damn naysayers

First...How do you know these were the conditions at this precise location? How do you know what you would be able to see if someone was holding up a light source? Was the cloud cover uniform for miles or spotty? Was the plane at 10,000 when it passed overhead at her location? Did it even pass over her location? Is Janet delusional or a liar? Does she even exist? All I'm saying is for all the so-called experts instantly calling it out as instantly unbelievable, I don't remember seeing any actual investigation into the facts as they were at that particular place and point in time. Perhaps i missed it, if so mea culpa and please point me to where these facts reside... on the other hand.... There are ways to call out bullshit and I guess there are some things that are so unbelievable that you can just say no way - couldn't happen -- but, to me, on this issue, just saying it can't happen is not as satisfying to me. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
-
lol...no, actually, you weren't...but I guess the point that you are emphasizing for me is that the fact of "who was first" really matters to you. And probably only to you....So carry on....
-
You know..I have no idea whether "Janet" is full of it or not.... but why is it so hard to believe that Cooper could have fired off a couple of flares. And....reflected off of the back of the plane, why couldn't these flares have provided enough light to see a "ladder or platform" and what "looked like a man". You're probably talking seconds here and would be much like when you see things illuminated by a strike of lightening. It would also make sense when she said that the light was thrown from the plane. Just saying...seems like something like this would be relatively easy to replicate in some form or other to prove or disprove. As for men in black....I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I'm not naive either. Though I personally think that memories (this would include Janet and KC's "friends") are easily non-intentionally embellished, lots worse has been done under the cover of law enforcement than visiting someone in a threatening manner. I know this will come as a surprise to you -- but most of the stuff that you bring up to highlight your excellent deductive skills has in fact been questioned before by someone else. From Marla to Janet to weather to found parachutes to money to whatever - generally you weren't the first to question any of it - though we wouldn't know that from reading your posts. The problem, as I've mentioned before, is that you don't read other posts - unless, I guess, they are directly related to you. Basically it's this......keeping an open mind does not mean that you believe everything you read AND it does not mean that what you read is not questioned. Some of us just don't jump as readily from Point A to point B on everything without a little more information.
-
Lord have mercy, is it just me or has this forum gone to hell in a hand basket? I used to love coming on here and joining in the discourse. Folks keeping an open mind and, yes, agreeing to disagree - though sometimes being asinine and having to take a Quade-cation. But overall, most of us have enjoyed the interesting dialogue on a variety of subjects -- from parachuting to weather to facial patterns to tie clips to flight paths to jets to psychological makeup of hijackers and victims to cords and money finds and transcripts and outcome scenarios and "my DB is better than your DB and here's why"........I could go on and on about the myriad paths discussions have taken....... but I won't waste anymore of your time....thoughtful readers get my drift. I don't even read most of the posts anymore - it's all such bickering bullshit. What happened? Will we ever get our forum back? Never mind...just venting..No response needed to a rhetorical question. Sigh......it is what it is but hope springs eternal.

I remember reading in one of those trivia type books that there was a rumor about the stars either in or beside the "P" on the cover of Playboy. The rumor was that these stars indicated the number of times Hugh had slept with that month's cover girl or how "good" she was. Sigh...what silly creatures boys can be sometimes Hugh probably started that one. Oh well, seems the actual reason for the stars was to designate the advertising region for different editions of the magazine. Apparently, the number of stars indicated the domestic or international advertising region for that edition of the magazine. The regions included a military edition, Canada, the United Kingdom, Chicago, Los Angeles metro, New York metro, eastern United States, southwestern United States, etc. Each edition had a certain number of ads intended for the regional audience only. The stars enabled the distribution people to identify the editions and send them to the right place. Unfortunately for Cooper sleuths, looks like the stars are cut off on original letter. (If it would have meant anything anyway - those are some wide distribution areas - but was this cunning or dumb luck by whoever constructed the letter). I can't really see it well, but looks like there's something around the "O" too but I've not seen anything on the internet that indicates that this is significant. Of course, I didn't look very hard either. Just putting it out there... Edited to say...I looked here https://cr3.com/sillycart.cgi?a=l;s=playboys and doesn't appear, to me, that there is anything relevant beside the "O" on that July 1970 cover. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

They were? Many were using DB Cooper! If not most. That's what all of the hub-bub over the name was all about. Nonfact > Bloviation > more bloviation > dead certain wrong conclusions = Expertise! Into the Blast of nonFacts. Everyone in Seattle was watching the news reports on Cooper for the first few weeks after the hijacking, including yours truly. At first, many of the these broadcasts added that the hijacker used the name DAN COOPER. Remember, we're talking about the first couple of weeks after the hijacking. And you skipped over the other points I made about why I thought it unlikely Cooper would ID himself by a name he did not invent. "Question everything"...

No worries. That was a joke. I wouldn't actually put you through that again. LOL...Yes you would. But please don't. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Jo, when you posted this link a couple of years ago I saw that there was a Dan Cooper, maybe a Quaker?, who was a Conscientious Objector during the Vietnam War. Still seeing the same thing. Daniel Cooper, aka Dan Cooper, is not an uncommon name so what's the deeper relevance here? BTW...you can put a smiley face at the end of every sentence and that will foil the MIB who are reading your every keystroke. Or wait...maybe you have to put them at the beginning of every sentence. Hell, I guess you could just do both. No wait..one might counteract the other. Crap...we're in a quandary. Just put a tin foil hat on - that oughta do it but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

here is Barnes & Nobles's response Thank you for contacting us about the NOOK Book D.B. Cooper. We appreciate your interest with B&N and in taking the time to know more about our products. We checked our website, and it shows that there is a NOOK Book “D. B. Cooper: The FBI Files”. According to the Overview, “D. B. Cooper: The FBI Files” is a collection of the official declassified Federal Bureau of Investigation files from the D. B. Cooper case, which is the content you could be looking for. In other words, they don't know either. Like you, I would guess they are one and the same. If anyone happens to purchase a copy, let us cheapskates know for sure

for the price of $4.99 I would say it's the same files, they put it on ebook which is a pretty cool program. yeah, I guess....I do love my Nook, but I don't know if I'd pay 5.00 bucks for a bunch of pdf files I can read for free. Oh well, each to his own. Lol..maybe they need a slush fund in case they might be taking a trip to Columbia sometime soon. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

This is from the Selective Service System's own website. You cannot have been called up before January 1970 at the earliest. Before you go any further with your claims Mr Knoss, you should consider this: Saying you were called when you were not, and then never serving to boot, is a shameful thing if it's true. It insults those who WERE called during that era, and those whose names are now on the Wall. I want you examine your conscience and listen to what it is telling you now, before you start hitting that keyboard. Maybe a character check is in order. Your birthday...unless you are afraid to reveal it. Mine is St. Paddy's Day. Ummm....You didn't read far enough. The lottery drawing was just a mechanism for the order drawn. Supposed to be more fair. The selective service induction system has been going on continuously since 1940 (except 1947) until it was ended in 1973. During Vietnam induction statistics are as follows: Vietnam: (Aug 1964- Feb 1973) 1,857,304 From Same web site you posted: A lottery drawing - the first since 1942 - was held on December 1, 1969, at Selective Service National Headquarters in Washington, D.C. This event determined the order of call for induction during calendar year 1970; that is, for registrants born between January 1, 1944, and December 31, 1950. Reinstitution of the lottery was a change from the "draft the oldest man first" method, which had been the determining method for deciding order of call. President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940 which created the country's first peacetime draft and formally established the Selective Service System as an independent Federal agency. From 1948 until 1973, during both peacetime and periods of conflict, men were drafted to fill vacancies in the armed forces which could not be filled through voluntary means. In 1973, the draft ended and the U.S. converted to an All-Volunteer military. Or maybe...he just took it off to put the parachute on and then forgot about it?

According to ckret...."I don't know how it got into the press that Cooper had something against the airlines. Tina asked him at one point why did he hijack the flight and Cooper replied, "I don't have a grudge against the airline, I just have a grudge." There might be more on Tina's actual question but I quit looking after I found this. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Are you referring to Gary L? Yes, I have read his impressive nav analysis. I did celestial nav on tuna boats. Still have my sextant, sight reduction tables and Bowditch book. Back in the day there was no GPS and there were many parts of the Pacific where LORAN coverage was spotty or absent. I remember synching my watch to radio time signals every day right before I took a noon sun sight. No automatic "atomic clock" synching like today, I am talking about listening to a voice announcement from the National Bureau of Standards station WWV on shortwave (usually 10.0 or 15.00 MHz) and setting my watch manually. I've flown over Pacific island areas and I can tell you if there are spotty clouds and the sun angle is casting cloud shadows on the water, it is nearly impossible to visually distinguish a low profile island from a sun shadow. They look identical from a distance. 377 Okay..I know this is the cooper forum and I promise I won't post anything else on Amelia...but I thought the video towards the bottom of this page http://searchforamelia.org/final-flight goes straight to the point of 377's post... but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

I haven't read everything, so might be mistaken, but I was under the impression that they had taken it as far as they were going to and published all their stuff here. http://searchforamelia.org/ From questions and comments page at above site....The Waitt Institute’s search for Amelia Earhart’s plane has concluded and unfortunately, we did not find the aircraft. However, with the hope that future searchers may be able to build upon the work we’ve done, we’ve elected to publish our research and results—including all sonar data from the mission—on this site. We take full responsibility for our work, including any and all calculations or assumptions, whether accurate or otherwise. We are confident Earhart’s plane is not in area of seafloor we surveyed. All appropriate comments submitted here will be posted on our ‘What We’ve Heard’ page unless you request otherwise in writing. Our goal is to generate positive dialogue and fresh ideas about where Amelia’s plane may still be found. If our research helps you with this purpose, we are grateful. In any case, please view this page as a platform where you can share your own theories and suggestions about what you think happened to the ill-fated World Flight. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Off topic, but I know that some on here share my fascination with non-DB mysteries... looks like the search for Amelia is heating up again... and getting a nudge from at least one rather high ranking US official ..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-17452875 but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
