  1. Hey I appreciate your efforts. I agree with you that there is no excuse for someone "cloning" another's user name to make nasty comments on another site. My only point was that , if the timing is the reason you came to that conclusion, there are probably a lot of lurkers that don't post to the forum so it could have been anyone. I'd like to think that remarks like that are not attributable to the folks that post here - no matter how we might disagree among ourselves - that is stooping to a new low. But I still believe in Santa Claus too...so who knows.
  2. Yeah - I meant the royal you as in "you guys". Sorry - Should've been more specific i guess. Robert Blevins said: We finally determined that the comments were made by only two or three people from DZ and that these people just made multiple comments using different usernames. Due to the short length of time between the posting of the link, and the appearance of the comments (a few minutes) there was no doubt they were being made by people who post to this thread. Whether or not they were using their OWN usernames is impossible to determine, but the commenters undoubtably came from Dropzone. Initially I also took his post to mean that a trackback or trace was done -- but then Robert followed that up with the statement that there was no doubt it came from someone here because of the timing. So just wondering which is it? Because even if the comments on the article were traced back to the same ISP - was that ISP matched up to the ISP of someone posting here? That is why I requested clarification. No big deal - just if you're gonna say that there is no doubt that the comments are from people here - it would be interesting to know how that was arrived at.
  3. The last woman on the video said it best. To paraphrase..."I don't doubt that she's probably remembering them being involved in something - whether or not it was this (DB) though.... I need a little more more hard evidence" but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  4. #1. How did you determine that 2 or 3 people from DZ made comments on another site using other folk's dropzone names? I mean did you actually trackback using user info from the posted comment? #2. "No Doubt" - Conclusive words if the only way you "know" they are from dropzone is the amount of time between the link and the posts. Not saying its not true or possible - just that if this is what you are basing your conclusion on - it's not conclusive at all. I dare say that there are people following this forum that have never posted on here. Then there are google alerts that people subscribe to whenever there is something new posted about a particular subject. So really it could have been anyone. I tend to ignore this inane stuff, but, don't get me wrong - Internet civility has to start somewhere, and I DO appreciate your letting folks know that someone is posting stupid remarks under another's name. But, unless you know the culprit is a regular DZ poster, based on the editor tracking back the comments, I, for one, would like to think that the regular posters on here are above these sort of juvenile pranks. On the other hand -- if it is true and verifiable that someone on here is co-opting other user names to make vulgar comments on other sites, then perhaps they should be reported to the Dropzone staff/moderators. Maybe Dropzone will disapprove of this practice enough to at least ban them from posting here and/or terminate their membership. Of course if you don't have to register to read forum posts there's not a whole lot they can do about that. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  5. You should be able to find lots of them right in your town. A guy with the username proautodetailer has been known to upload phony Cooper bill videos to YouTube...and yes...I went back and changed that post to Mammoth Lakes. *Question Everything* What is there to question here? The guy didn't say he had Cooper bills. He said that he had some 1963 twenties that he was told were found near Yacolt, WA. and asked for help in locating the Cooper numbers. With a caveat to the legitimacy of his post, I gave him some references to check. If he's legit, to get any traction with this at all in the enrichment sense, seems like any money would have to go through the FBI or other relevant source for authentication -- who I would imagine would arrange for questioning and, who knows, maybe even get an expert or two to look at the bills. Yeah, as we well know, DB draws em like flies....so if he offers them to you for sale as DB dollars --and you buy em sight unseen without question, then silly, silly you. But so far - looks like he's just seeking information...... or he might just get off on playing around with the kooks on that crazy DB Cooper forum. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  6. Well first I wanted to make a "Dave's not here" joke, but what the hell - maybe I'm just gullible. So.. If you really have some old twenties that were found while hunting near Yacolt, WA, and you want to find out if they might be part of DB's loot, there is a list of the numbers on the FBI site in pdf files and/or...you can try this.. http://www.check-six.com/lib/DBCooperLoot.htm ....supposedly a DB Cooper money search. Can't attest to the accuracy of it cause I've never tested it, but there it is for what it's worth. Good luck! I tried it a couple times using the number from the FBI files.....no match Well first I was too lazy, but decided to give it a try on about 10 or 12 random numbers from the FBI list and I got matches on all of them. No spaces, 1ST ten numbers and use the dropdown to change the year (last two numbers on FBI list)....oh and I had to use my 3.00 readers and enlarge the FBI page about 3 times.

  9. I don't know Farf.....now every time I see Martha Stewart (and that's not a good thing - it means there is a thunderstorm outside, the fridge is empty, the cupboard is bare, I've worked the Sunday Times crossword, have no books left unread, waiting on others to take their turn in Words with Friends, and there is absolutely nothing else on the tube), I'm gonna be picturing her in a good-girls-gone-bad video teaching Squeaky how to crochet a cozy. I'm thinking You gotta get out more. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  10. Could someone post some more info on Braden? I google'd on him and found that he was special ops and might have jumped from a 727, but not much more. Was he interviewed by the FBI? Is he still alive? Does he have an alibi for Thanksgiving 1971? Other than possibly have 727 knowledge, is there anything else that would lead one to suspect him? Search on him here in the DZ and you will likely find more info -- or links to info at least. See search options at bottom of page. But basically he is considered in the running because of his background, description, he had a grudge (lol...but who doesn't), a lot of folks that knew him said they thought he might be the one. Don't think he's still alive. Not sure on the alibi or whether he was ever an official suspect. Sorry not more help but that's all I remember off the cuff at the moment. ETA -- I see 377 found some posts for you. I would've been nicer and done that too..but I got this friggin sciatic nerve thing that is interfering with my ability to enjoy my weekend and, thus, to be a good person. Even my family members have left the building - no one wants to be in my little kingdom right now. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

  12. . Always at your service, Farflungini Off topic, but about those two front seats.......Know when they started asking for your "identifiers" (usually name and DOB) even as they scan your armband about a million times in the hospital when they give you medication? And there's supposed to be a "Timeout" in the surgical suite - right before the knife descends - everyone has to agree with what they are in there for --as in "yep it's the left leg that needs to be amputated"? This is after they have identified it with the patient and marked it with a yes before they ever got back to the suite. I'm simplifying a little but all this double-checking is called a "universal" protocol to be done on any surgery dealing with organs / appendages that the body has more than one of. Right? Well, supposedly healthcare used the airline industry as an example when they first looked at using redundancy as an error reduction strategy. Unfortunately...what works for the airlines ain't doing so hot in the medical field -- if you can even find good data or anyone willing to be quoted on it -- medical errors, it appears (I would love to be corrected on this) are not going down. What makes it even worse is that instead of greater transparency aka disclosure, many medical errors (esp those dealing with medication or those that can be downplayed) are continuing to be under-reported. http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/the-pain-of-wrong-site-surgery/2011/06/07/AGK3uLdH_story.html Who knows the reason that what works for one industry (on the whole) doesn't for another? Is it because it's just one ol fat guy on the table - as opposed to a cabin full? Call me perplexed. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  13. ETA: Not to mention I guess the basic premise behind your post (don't believe everything you hear / check your sources, cross-check info) still applies - I see nothing about a satellite in Springfield. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

  15. Well I sure am glad you cleared all that up. I'll take a look at that Facebook site directly.... 16. well Im not totaly sure they did buy his alibi. It might have been a legal-tactical decision to persue the one for prosecution without opening the other - They had him dead-to-rights on the one count which was enough to clsoe the door on him forever - Later. Is there any place to go with McCoy? He was only 29, didn't match the description and they must have checked his fingerprints against the ones they had. While I have many doubts about McCoy being DB -- I have wondered at times about his physical characteristics... to me he has always looked much older than his stated age --but regardless of that I agree that he would be a case study in his own right. His background -- from religion to family to military honors to seeming like a regular, even shy ol joe -- just seems an ill fit to the man who would hijack a plane, escape prison and die in a shootout. From everything I've read no one who knew him thought from the start that he would have done what he did. Wonder how much his military experience changed him? but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  17. Bruce - That was a great story about your trip to see Sheridan Peterson, You do have a way of making readers feel they are along for the ride. And kudos to the dropzoner who sent the basket of cheer - I suspect it was 377 - he's always had an affinity for Sheridan - but I really have no idea. Whoever - was a nice thing to do. Thank you. At the risk of repeating myself - Peterson's own life story and his family history in America would be a fascinating legacy if someone could get it down on paper. Even without the Cooper angle. I'm glad you reached out to him again, Bruce. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

  19. I think you have to audition. Oh no....it was screened - you have to be screened. So....if you don't want to go through the x-ray machine, you'll have to step into the little room so they can pat you down. 20. The only agent that admitted to it was ckret, aka Larry Carr, but he's no longer here unless he's incognito or lurking. Plus he's no longer the agent of record having transferred to another area. Shame, really. I didn't always agree with his conclusions but he was a great point of reference, funny at times, and seemed to be a decent guy. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  21. Actually, not to get in any one's business (I generally roll my eyes when guys start banging their beer on the bar to make a point and duck behind the bar when they start throwing the bottles..
  22. And don't forget Amazon whose skydiving feats probably exceed those of everyone else on this thread combined. Plus she's a heck of an angler. And then there's Bruce Smith who has an on-line news blog and is writing a book. Recently came under fire for outing Tina. Routinely causes Blevins to have apoplectic fits with his journalistic escapades.
  23. At first I was wondering why in the world someone would take the time to animate these news stories, but apparently they are trying to sell the service. Okay nothing to do with Cooper but.,,.just this one... it's worth a grin.
