Okay..I'm on a roll....In addition to the main players in the actual crime, you could add in the suspect characters - you play the game as Duane, McCoy, Christensen, Gossett, Coffelt, Mel, et al. You've got to get out of the plane AND stay alive AND not get caught AND not lose all the money. And the character's behaviors are programmed to remain true to their known histories. (For example..since Mel is the only one known to have not been seen again after 1971, he's gonna be the hardest to keep alive). One, two player or multi-player game - Player still alive, not caught, and with the most money at the end wins (extra points if you end up with Tina)...Or it never ends -- kind of like the Hotel DB Cooper.

Has any computer geek yet tried to put best guess scenarios into a simulation model for Cooper's landing? I realize, since no one can agree on anything
-
Good work. The only thing I would add is that Anson has a pretty distinctive mark on a lot of the pieces I've seen and "seems" to be pretty high end - at least according to one article I read. As in Tiffanys vs JC Penney. No conclusions drawn - just sharing the info. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Robert Blevins says in part You don't address this, but an equally relevant part of FF's post was this.... Don’t forget McCoy’s mother in law AND his sister in law (two living witnesses beats Bernie’s sister) who stated with less hesitation than Dawn J (her real name), that the clasp was in fact, Richard McCoy’s. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Guess you just upped that probability quotient. Unless there's documentation from the time of how the tie was found seems like this one is a non-starter...... again.
-
You're right...who knows? To beat a dead horse again.....If the tie clip was merely a decoration or to hold the two flaps of the tie together - I could see a left-handed person putting it on from the left. However, if it was worn in a functional manner to hold the tie in place by attaching the tie to the shirt, seems most likely that it would have been put on from the right regardless of whether he was left or right-handed. What seems probable to me...is that the tie clip was taken off the tie at some point and replaced by a right-handed FBI agent facing the tie. Just saying..... A question for the sky divers....CAUTION...WHUFFO ALERT.....Are parachutes designed for right / left hand? The ones I've seen in pictures look like it would be difficult to grasp and pull with the left hand. Not DB specific question - Just curious. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
-
But if you can come up with a genuine "left-hand" tie clasp, then you need to continue and look for a shirt that can be buttoned with the left hand. Is there a place on the planet where such shirts are customary? Sorry but you got me wondering.....

So many posts in here now, I am not even sure where each mini conversation is going or came from! Matt LOL...welcome to the Hotel DB Cooper. Like I used to tell my guitar player after the drummer came back from his "smoke" break......just jump in when you can and hang on. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

This means the date range of the matchbook falls between late 1963 and July 1, 1989. You could probably narrow it down further if you wished. What? Like I should do all the work for you?
-
They might be silly little things, but, when someone puts something out there - like a statement or picture that "appears" to give basis to correlation speculation - it should be addressed/corrected with sourced references. In other words...The matchbook cover didn't list Portland so let's speculate that this might (just might) correlate with DB coming in on another flight. Well, alls good until one realizes that the matchbook cover is not an accurate representation of whether Portland had a Sky chef or not. My point...even though it is speculation, it shouldn't be supported with inaccurate information. Hey..nothing against Geoff - I don't know him personally ...he seems like a pretty good guy -- but a little homework never hurt anyone. Oops strike that last sentence. I hate homework almost as much as I hate housework.

Yeah I kinda figured there was a touch of the famous FF humor.

Dang.. I guess I get to to keep the treadmill. Edited to fix attachment but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

http://huntfordbcooper.com/d-b-cooper-evidence-found Hmmm... AS for the matches, according to the below post with attached article (Smokin post 26463 Sept 1, 2011) Portland did have a sky chef(s) restaurant...guess they just didn't rate on the ol matchbook listing thing. Or maybe (just maybe) that matchbook cover predates DB by several years. Sad.. I guess Geoffrey doesn't read the world's foremost forum on DB Cooper trivia aka the Dorkzone.... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4181311#4181311 (Eugene Register-Guard Sept 20, 1966) Would be easy enough to check to see if the chain was still operating in Portland in 1971. I'd bet my vintage treadmill / coat rack that it was. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Well then I don't know how much more I can give you. I posted the handwritten note and Ckret's post about the McChord reference. Interpret it as you will, but whether he said what was written in the note or the crew said it to him -- from the real-time documented evidence and the FBI agent's statement, (eta: and the transcript that Farf cited) it seems pretty obvious, at least to me, that he was aware of the base and the distance from Tacoma, and appears to have thought that that at least two of the chutes were to come from there. I guess one can choose to believe that the conversations were crew manipulations to appease him or hurry up the ground crew - just my humble opinion, but I'm not buying it.
-
Yeah, well I guess we could parse it all day long since it's all based on opinion
-
How do we know that for sure? He did mention Tacoma. As far as I know the hijacker never mentioned McChord AFB. Nothing about it in the transcripts, etc. 'We're over Tacoma now...' is supposedly what he said to Mucklow while they were circling over the Puget Sound area. Well I guess it's open to interpretation like everything else in this flippin case.....but in the handwritten notes...." "He" said why it took money + chutes long time, -chutes came from McCord air force base." Punctuation and underlines are the original writer's, not mine. The way it is underscored makes me think that the writer is repeating what he said. Be pretty hard to prove either way, but that's what I get out of it. Farflung's point about heads or tails on the choice of parachute makes a lot of sense. The only caveat I would mention is Cooper knew about McCord Air Force base and might (toss that quarter again) have assumed that any chutes would come from there. Hell that's probably the first place I would have gone if I was the one securing the chutes anyway. Regardless, he (Cooper) obviously had the power and the opportunity to direct where the chutes should come from and/or what type/model of chutes they should be -- and he didn't. I think that says a lot. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Sometimes it doesn't work because you select too little or too much or- for some reason you click on the url button too many times and it adds a front bracket and two back brackets, etc. --clicking the buttons change them from front bracket mode to back bracket mode so it's easy to mess up. The buttons will be labeled with the slash if you're in back bracket mode. But you can always edit it manually by making sure that the word url is in brackets before the address -- and the forward slash and the word url are in brackets after the address. This goes for other code as well. See attached examples. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

The easiest way to do it is just to highlight the entire url then click on the url button. Either way works. This way folks can see where the link is going to without having to hover over it. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

lol @ FF's scientific approach. I think you've just made a valuable contribution to the study of the evolution of woman-mankind. Darwin, move over. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

I'm calling BS on this. Get a good night's sleep Robert. #1. Having a google alert set to DB Cooper is hardly doing research, and .... Not that it means anything ... but the article on this witness was actually posted to the dropzone on October 5 when we were talking about witness statements. I know you didn't read the post

Maybe (just maybe), if everyone would ignore these posts then they would cease to be an issue, because whoever does it, no doubt, gets his/her jollies when people respond to it or quote it on the DZ. Maybe (just maybe), the way to handle it would be to send a message to the owner of the site and ask them to remove the offensive posts. As opposed to propagating them on this thread. And if the owner won't, then pretend the site doesn't exist. Quit giving it traffic. And if you know that someone that is registered on here is posting this bunk, then report them to Quade. Just my humble suggestion. Oh and FYI, I'm pretty sure that the quoted posts don't meet at least one of the posting rules found here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=142088 so you might want to quit posting them. Again, just a suggestion. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

LOL...maybe they don't have to. I remember in school how they'd scare you with the films about having lifetime flashbacks. We all imagined that if we took LSD, years later we'd all of a sudden get an incredible urge to find a balcony to jump off of -- sans parachute - sure that we could fly. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

Well all the pundits were dissing Madonna because of her age. (Did they do that in past years with all the geriatric male bands/acts?...hmmmm) Oh well - My favorite half time shows in past years were Prince, Petty, and Springsteen, so I was expecting not to like her but Me thinks the ol broad pulled it off. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
