  1. From this website.... Long before Kenny Rogers started calling himself the silver fox, my friend, Mike Jaap of Tacoma had a band called Silver Fox. They were excellent, but were not too well accepted at the time (1970-72) because their music was too sophisticated for most rock audiences. They were actually kind of prog-rock and jazz-rock fusion. If I remember right they did all original material (something practically illegal back then) and it was very good! They were working with unusual time signatures and progressive harmonies. The only two names I remember are leader/keyboardist Mike Jaap and guitarist Rick Delarno. They played mostly around the Tacoma area. I saw them in the Lincoln Bowl once. They played the gig wearing tuxedos with tails. Bob Phillips, June 2007 Point of contention (not that it has any bearing on anything at all, esp DB - I just like classic rock and classic country trivia )...... Don't know if Kenny Rogers ever called himself that or not, but it was Charlie Rich that was more commonly nicknamed the Silver Fox. He's the one who took out his lighter on stage at the Academy of country music awards and burned the envelope before announcing John Denver won country music's entertainer of the year. They say it was a protest of pop entering the country music genre......but he was probably just drunk

  5. Exactly. And the same goes for the DNA... 1. Please check the DNA. Damn it, why won't they just check the DNA? 2. But the results don't really matter cause the existing DNA is probably compromised. 3. Or fingerprints. Check the fingerprints.

  7. OTOH...while we're generalizing.....consider the sketches that look just like the guy and they capture him...(John Lutz comes to mind) Or consider the sketches that look like the composite and then they capture some poor shmuck that looks similar to the composite who the witness then also identifies in a lineup so he spends decades in prison before DNA rescues him. I'm sure someone on this board has the real stats but I say six one....1/2 dozen the other. Doesn't make the case. Point being....barring a money find in a significantly relevant location, or missing videotape found in a vault somewhere of the actual heist, or other facts of the case that the public has not been invited to be privy to leading to a solve.....what we are left with are descriptions by eye witnesses, characteristics of the criminal's actual reported behavior, (and perhaps less valid, but surely of some import - profiles derived from actual witnessed behavior), and finally, the official composite drawing(s). This is all I see that's left to differentiate one set of circumstantial "evidence" from another. Anything I missed? No disrespect intended to anyone, but whenever woodwork, oops..I mean peripheral, memories start to connect the dots on all of these candidates, yours included, I always get the little red flag... but that's just me. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

  10. Off topic, but if you are having general anesthesia, you might have an endotracheal tube in place for respiratory ventilation and receive meds that temporarily paralyze, so even if you become aware of pain you can't let them know that you are in pain. Happens rarely..and supposedly only a third of those who are aware actually feel pain...but when it does happen it is extemely terrifying. I used to work in surgery and risk management and I personally know of two patients this happened to. They were able to relate things that were done and said in surgery - as well as the terror they experienced. It always pissed me off that both the patients and I were written off when we tried to get the issue addressed. And these patients weren't even wanting to litigate - they just wanted the docs to be aware that it happened and to try to prevent it from happening to someone else. Of course now it's given more credence to the extent that medical equipment such as BIS monitors has been developed that attempt to address the issue, but then it was like the doctors' and senior administration's position was "hey it happened, but it's over now and the patient survived the scariness and the pain ----what ya whining about" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anesthesia_awareness Okay...off of my quality of care and patients' rights soapbox......sorry. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  11. That makes sense. Thanks. Lol....drop by anytime - just watch out fer the south Ga rednecks :). They put secret guv'ment workers in about the same category as dentists. They ain't got no use fer em. :)
  12. lol....I resemble that remark. I often wonder...in your creative brain...which comes first....the video clip or the concept? Does that make sense? Like do you think "this reminds me of the scene in X" or do you think of the theme/concept then search for a video that fits? but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  13. lol...I saw this hoax a while ago. Someone's playing on the internet again. Folks just can't resist having fun with old mysteries.
  14. With all due respect I think this line of reasoning is ridiculous. I just don't see anyone's livelihood or privacy being overtly affected by the legitimate particulars of this 40 yr old case unless they want it to be. Those that don't seek it out may be inconvenienced, might even feel harassed by some, but except for that, seems that those people that get dragged into this case appear to either have nothing to hide or they could give a rat's tail about it or they get a little kick out of seeing their name in print. As far as the FBI questioning old witnesses, I don't see why they should hesitate to question someone if they thought there was any reason to. There is a family here in Georgia that still gets occasional visits from federal marshals and reporters just checking in to see if they've heard anything from two of their brothers. You might remember hearing about them. The Anglin brothers teamed up with one Frank Morris to escape from Alcatraz around 1962. BTW....they were never found either and some people think at least one of em made it. Hmmmmm...Frank Morris (apparently the brains of the bunch) was around 35 yrs old in 1962...lets see he would have been about 44-45 in 1971. You know they also met in an Atlanta prison. Shoot,... I think I might be on to something. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  15. She's talking about a post you made identifying Tina's ex where you subsequently realized you erred and retracted. Who knows why that is relevant. Sluggo - This is the part that I don't get. I mean why? It's a 40 year old case, the perpetrator is either dead or an eighty-ish year old man, the remaining money is probably gone forever in whatever form. Regardless of all this, it's seems likely to be largely unprosecutable (or at least non-convictable) anyway. I get that the FBI doesn't like this case going down as unsolved, but frankly, the majority of people paying 4 - 5$ a gallon for gas couldn't care less. Many of them had probably either forgotten or never heard of the case until the FBI brought it back into the limelight. So....other than the reasons from folks who believe all that they see in M. Night Shyamalan movies, the only reason I can think of for people who know stuff not just putting everything out there is for hopes of monetary gain or momentary fame. I'm really not trying to be facetious - What am I missing here? but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  16. Now that is awesome!! I love the video collages of the hatchings. Amazing. Thanks for sharing! So far mom and dad have brought in large fish, ground squirrel, half of what looked like a ground hog, msc birds and what looked like half a pheasant, and one good sized racoon some think was climbing up to inspect the nest (big mistake!). Do they share the sitting duties? I couldn't tell but in one video of the hatches it looked like one left and the other took over..but I guess it could have been the editing? My first glimpse of an eagle's nest in the "wild" (meaning outside of a zoo) was when I went to my first shuttle launch. Kennedy Space Ctr is also a national reserve. I'm sure we probably have them in South GA but I'd never seen one. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

  18. lol again...Guess I'm a noncomformist. My favorite was always guitarist Michael Nesmith while all of my cooler friends thought Davy was the cats meow. 19. Farflung, I think you're the only one on here that might really need the little copyright thingy. . You really do make me LOL and reflect. Oh my Gawd....do you know my neighbor?? When we first moved into our home years ago the first thing our neighbor told us was how well that the previous owner had kept up his lawn....before including his expectations that we would continue this time honored tradition. Boy did his hopes get crushed. I mean it's presentable, but if given a choice between cutting grass and going to the lake for a picnic, gotta tell you the grass is gonna grow for a few more days. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  20. I have no qualifications other than a long-time general interest in the case, but I'd sure like to be there.
  21. Good work as usual Georger. Can you do the eyes? Yeah to what 377 says, but since the composite is all there is to work with for now.........Like DW's nose, Peterson's eyes are pretty distinctive, with the outer downward slope, but the only composite that they resemble, to me is pic B. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  22. Thought ya'll might like this little snippet from the Oregonian, July 1957: "WRITER with family wants caretaker job in remote area. Sheridan Peterson, 39 Ravaill (sp?) St., Missoula, Mont." No flames, but the first thing that came to my mind was Steven King's Shining...lol. Cooper or not, no doubt that Sheridan Peterson has led a fascinating life. His life plus history of his family (his parents, grandfather - ratification of the 21st amendment was one high point for those of us who enjoy the occasional spirits - go, Granpa, go), great grandfather and back would make a good read for those interested in regional and family histories. Who knows...maybe he might be interested in using some of the talent in this forum to co-author such a work?? *Grins* I've sometimes half-way speculated that he has posted here under a name other than eagleeye to keep interest up. Half-assed speculation being what it is, who knows? Apart from some of the jumpers and a few of the whuffos (is a non-jumper allowed to use that word) who have met in person..who really knows who anyone is anyway? Or maybe you all meet the 3rd Thursday of every month at the Elks Lodge. **Grins again** Whatever the case, from his various posts all over the net, he doesn't seem to shy away from being a Cooper suspect. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  23. Clark Air Base, Philippines Also from the article Home Coming http://www.smartvoter.org/2006/11/07/ca/sn/vote/peterson_s/paper3.html. "At sixteen, he and Bill Wright joined the Marines. After St. Vincent's, Marine Boot Camp was a cake walk. He was well prepared for the Marine Corps' brutality. Sheridan returned from the Pacific in 1946, and by 1947 had his Healdsburg High School diploma." but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
