  1. Off topic - but this must be the day for excrement. Just took my son's dogs for a walk down to the creek and some lazy a$$ redneck hunter had apparently shot a dear and decided to process him right on the walking trail. Needless to say one dog got curious before I saw what he was curious about. The dog got covered from one end to the other in deer poop. Made me cuss like a smokejumper....but when I saw your picture I had to laugh. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  2. Reality check 2: What's up with folks who ask to be banned, then when they get their wish, come back under another name?? Sigh.....Someone once compared this forum to the Hotel California....I say the Hotel California with occasional detours through the White Rabbit's hole....
  3. Just my humble opinion, but I think that credibility and being constructive is a two way street. You state that Duane absolutely jumped with the chute marked with an X. Other comments you have made here and on Facebook about actual events that occurred on Nov 24 1971 are strong, declarative, absolute statements, yet -- you were only involved as a witness to something that was being planned 3 years prior, you yourself admit that you did not see or talk to Duane after 1968, you admit that you were not there on the Nov 24, 1971 night in question, and you admit that you only know what actually occurred that night essentially through third hand information over a telephone --- from the "real" McCoy who was also not on the flight the night in question. . Just sayin...and I'm being nice here....Even if everything that you say you actually witnessed or heard first hand in 1968 is true.... Planning does not equal execution. Ask the majority of folks who make New Year's resolutions. You cannot be absolute about anything that Duane / Dan / McCoy / Christiansen / Mickey Mouse, et al did or didn't do that night if you were not there to witness it at the time of the occurrence. And as I think you've also argued yourself --- some might say there are no absolutes when it comes to eyewitness anything. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  4. Agreed. lol. tell us how you really feel.
  5. You did well, Blevins. It was an interesting show. Loved that hinged hiding space in the attic.
  6. Best line so far from the show......Regarding NW airline labor / strikes in the 70s...."They called it cobra airlines - they'd strike at anything". but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  7. Jo -- is this Duane? This is a sales opportunity ad in Mobile paper June of 1980 -- Looked like this person worked for a financial institution based out of Atlanta -- maybe trying to get students into college loans. Says to call Duane Weber if you're interested in this sales job. Just saying...if this is him, doesn't seem like he was worried about advertising his name -- maybe he left Fort Collins cause he got a better job opportunity in sales. ?? but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  8. Way back yonder when Carr first started posting (before the Amboy find) he said that the FBI also had the serial numbers of the Cooper parachutes. That's why I always wondered why it seemed to take so long to id the Amboy one, and why they had to get Cossey to look at the amboy chute in the first place. Just extra verification, I guess? On Jan 1 of 2008, Dumstuntzz asked: just out of curiosity's sake, did the FBI ever record the serial numbers of the gear that was used?? us riggers do keep logbooks and MAYBE some of the gear found its way back into use? Ckret replied: Yes we have the serial numbers and interviewed the rigger. One chute was returned to it's owner, two were never found and one is in evidence. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3065909;search_string=rigger;#3065909 but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  9. lol...oops...my bad....guess I better slither back into my corner and leave the humor to Farflung....Where is he anyway? but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  10. L Wow..good find Orange. 15 years...Have to look this one up tomorrow. You're right ...this does answer that question I've often wondered about. Course he did plead guilty. I think ol Dan might want to plead innocent and take his chances with a jury. That generally seems to work out well on the west coast anyway.
  11. Anybody heard anything about this book? D.B. Cooper Case Exposed: J. Edgar Hoover Cover Up? by George C. Nuttall but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  12. Thanks. I remember reading about the science panel and all of those posts that enhanced the info on the 1980 money find with 2009-10 analysis and 2009-2010 interviews with eyewitnesses involved with the 1980 find. I guess what I'm getting at is that the original report of the money find is unchanged and no further reports were found from that time period. Is that correct? lol...I love it when you guys get so cryptic. Makes me think this caper might be solved yet!... So does anyone know if there is a copy of the full science panel report to date.....Anything more since Tom Kaye was on the natl geo special? Are do we mere mortals have to wait until DB's bones are found or he's in handcuffs to see it? Just joking...though seriously sometimes i think with all the posts that have been written and time spent, and I, for one, certainly appreciate all the effort expended so hope no one is offended by humor, Murphy's Law says that some little kid out hiking one day is gonna find a bone that's been carried by a scavenger to a completely off target location. Money finds, Hewlett-Packard 5710-A dual-column gas chromatograph with flame analyzation detectors, calculators, flight paths, probabilities and slide rules be damned.....but I hope not. Mona Lisa: If you will look in the manual, you will see that this particular model faucet requires a range of 10-16 foot pounds of torque. I routinely twist the maximum allowable torquage. Vinny: How can you be sure you used 16 foot pounds of torque? Mona Lisa: Because I used a Craftsman model 1019 Laboratory edition, signature series torque wrench. The kind used by Cal Tech High Energy physicists, and NASA engineers. Vinny: In that case, how can you be sure that's accurate? Mona Lisa: Because a split second before the torque wrench was applied to the faucet handle, it had been calibrated by top members of the state and federal Departments of Weights and Measures, to be dead-on balls accurate. Here's the certificate of validation. Vinny: "Dead-on balls accurate"? Mona Lisa: It's an industry term. Vinny: I guess the f-ing thing is broken. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  13. I'm reading back through the old and current thread, heaven forbid, to check but seems like I remember in earlier discussions of the money find, especially involving posts by Ckret, the money was found in bundles wrapped with rubber band - money only crumbled after handling and bands deteriorated -- which led to fragments or shards in the general area where found (inches under the sand). Nothing about balls of mush or other unidentifiable stuff. The bills were id'd initially for serial numbers by the FBI, then additional serial numbers were id'd by the auction house -(might be hazy on detail here). Basically - over time and many posts the story about the money find went from relatively straight-forward of a few bundles to substantial changes in the details - such as the substance of the find, area of the find, etc. etc.. Please correct me if i'm wrong on the original find, but if i'm generally accurate -- Does anyone recall how the changes came to be - was there an additional report found other than the one Ckret initially posted about? I just can't remember and I haven't found it yet and hoping someone will spare me the arduous task of continuing to look. thanks
  14. Detour down memory lane - Miss Beazley. was Buffy's doll on Family Affair, a late sixties sitcom. I imagine they sold the doll so all little girls could be just like Buffy. Sad child star outcome that was if I recall correctly. End of detour. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  15. Blevins said.. Regardless of the other merits (or lack) of Gossett being Cooper or matching the composite sketch, unless you have a picture of Gossett on November 24, your "hairy porker" argument doesn't hold a lot of water. #1 - he had on a jacket so who knows what his arms looked like #2. It is fairly easy to gain weight in a very short period of time. 18 months is a no-brainer. Trust me on this one.
  16. No more than smoking raleighs, buying stuff beyond ones means, throwing bags in rivers, confessing, or any of the other myriad anecdotal tidbits that have been related on this forum over the years...But you have to admit it would be a pretty interesting turn of events.
  17. This makes no sense. According to the F.B.I files on D.B. Cooper, he gave the name Dan Cooper and D.B. was a moniker that stuck because the press printed it by mistake. How could a letter be sent to Reno 2 days prior to the hijacking with a name that was a mistake? In addition, Cooper asked the plane be flown to Mexico.....Reno was a detour for more fuel. A decision made "on the fly". I might not be a lawyer or a scientist, but this looks a little "wonky". According to the Reno Gazette of Friday Dec 3 and I've paraphrased: They received this letter on Thursday (which would be Dec 2). The newspaper says it was mailed Wednesday,(which would be Dec 1). It was postmarked US Postal Service CA 956 which means the letter was cancelled in Sacramento, but could have been mailed at any one of 50 or so post offices in the Sacramento area. Unless Gossett was psychic...looks like another case of someone getting over excited trying to connect dots. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

I thought at first it was a typo and maybe they meant December 22 -- since they were talking about the fourth letter. But, looking again, I agree, it sure reads funny. I didn't listen to the interview, though - just read the article. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill

  20. Yeah...I think that the general consensus is that it's a hoax....someone who has a lot of time on their hands...though, in mho, a pretty cool sense of humor. (I wonder how many takes it took to narrate without laughing)...... on the other hand....maybe the skunk knows more about this case right now than anyone.
  21. "Regardless of the applicable statute of limitations, the period may be extended or the running of the period suspended or tolled under a number of circumstances such as when the accused is a fugitive or when the case involves charges of child abuse, bankruptcy, wartime fraud against the government, or DNA evidence". (Taken from Statutes of Limitation in Federal Criminal Cases: An Overview Updated April 9, 2007) If I'm not mistaken, I think Vicki's father fits the fugitive category - he took off while out on bail awaiting his sentencing hearing. (relying on memory here).. Maybe this caveat is what the marshall that Vicki talked to was referring to. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
  22. Off DB topic but had to comment -- I just looked at Quade's profile pictures. Cool formations. Amazing to this whuffo how you all do that without tangling up or landing on top of each other.
