  1. Robert H. Edwards's Blog: Great 20th century mysteries December 9, 2022 D. B. Cooper and Flight 305: the oscillations and the pressure bump (revisited) "It was very dark, with virtually no ground reference except when we got in the Portland area" (Second Officer, 2014). Implicitly, there is some visibility of ground in the Portland area; we do not know whether the crew considers Vancouver, Washington, as part of the Portland area. (Referring to the bump or the report of the bump) "They had not yet reached Portland proper but were definitely in the suburbs or immediate vicinity thereof" (First Officer, 1971.) To me, "Portland proper" means old Portland, the area bounded by the I-5 and the I-405; and the "suburbs" mean Northeast Portland and St. Johns; but they do not include Vancouver. This sounds like they have crossed the Columbia River. " At 2018 PST +/- 30 seconds, Flight 305 passes the position 23 nautical miles south of the Battle Ground VORTAC on the Victor 23 airway. It is now south of Lake Oswego and approximately abeam Tualatin, Oregon. Backtracking from this point at three nautical miles per minute: Flight 305 begins its crossing of the Columbia at approximately 2013 PST. "
  2. Because R99 and Ulis want to go there and dig the whole county up .... and claim the land as abandoned since Soderlin was MIA. ?
  3. The city across the river from Portland is: Vancouver. Two FBI agents there at the time. The Ingram find was technically in their jurisdiction. They had not yet reached Portland proper but were definitely in the suburbs or immediate vicinity thereof" (First Officer, 1971.) In other words, Rataczak didnt know what was Vancouver vs Portland! The suburbs of Vancouver are: the northern climes of Vancouver. Vancouver is not the suburbs of Portland or Mexico City either. And Earth is the third planet from the Sun! There is Rataczak Company speak vs language for the rest of the US population? ! Rataczak was weird! Rataczak was playing a role! Rataczak was busy being busy ? Rataczak barely knew where he was except in general terms somewhere north maybe of Portland maybe ! Which is north of Mexico City on the third planet from the Sun. Soderlin was "missing in action" according to R99. MIA Soderlin got the whole flight path wrong according R99. Which is north of Mexico City on the third planet from the Sun.
  4. Any sem photos of these crucial particles? Does Tom say the TiSb specimen is an alloy? What process and type of alloy? Any isotopic work on these particles ? Are any of these 'particles' machined? What "process" are these 'particles' associated with? What is Tom's role in all of this ? Any sand particles associated with the Columbia on the Cooper tie? Are all of these rare particles being picked up at one location or from multiple locations ? I guess some have decided its from one location ? The TiSb alloy location ? What happened to Kaye's friend, the materials expert Dick Stone? Is he still onboard or long gone?
  5. I tend to agree. Those particles did not come from a clean lab environment! Unless it was a lab in Moscow!
  6. Once again you rise to the occasion. Kudos!
  7. Very good point finally brought up! Yes the tie was tested by the Lab. More than once? Any 302s about testing the tie? Was the tie contaminated by Lab testing .... like the money was? Testing is one thing. Destructive testing is a whole different matter.
  8. The Facebook group is a closed page! Nicky Broughton and Ulis have kept people off 'their page' - intentionally. Thats a first in the history of Cooper forums. People condemn Ulis and Broughton for a reason! That is the opposite of keeping the case in the public eye and it has complicated everything. keeping the case in the public eye "is" as keeping the case in the public eye "does". There have been very negative consequences of their actions, and they know and intended that. These are political deniers. The Cooper case is bigger and more important than any individual. Nobody can own or control the case for very long. Every attempt to take over the case has failed and always will. Flyjack, Tom Kaye, Darren, and the FBI's continuing effort have probably done more to keep this case alive than most others, in the current regime. Tom Kaye's work has been central above and beyond anything I envisioned. It takes "tools and training" to move a case beyond speculation to actual investigation.
  9. The idea that Cooper was part of some skydiver community has never borne fruit. Did Cooper ever say or do anything that tied him to sky divers? On the other hand Cooper did say he had a grudge. That is personal - political. Cooper told Tina Minnesota was 'nice land' ? Evidently Cooper had visited MN ? Did he visit Wisconsin? If the FBI had searched political organisations in Minnesota or Wisconsin, especially political groups affiliated with anti Vietnam activities like the SDS .... would they have turned Cooper up there? It seems reasonable to search for people where people say they have been ? Tina was probing for personal information about the hijacker and she snagged one lead. * Did Tina snag more!? Things redacted or missing ? Speculate away.
  10. If I recall, the terms Cooper used in his chute demand were more military terms vs skydiver community terms. The FBI conducted an intense search of skydiver communities. The lack of prints for Cooper made a search of military records, useless What Meltzer would do vs what Cooper did, arent even comparable imho. How many known skydivers have hijacked planes? Any? Was McCoy a "skydiver" - part of the skydiver hobby community ? No. People like to compare Cooper with McCoy - why? I dont think they are even comparable, or, we have no basis for comparing them for the simple reason we dont know who and what Cooper was! One might as well compare scooters with Cadillacs. Both have a motor and wheels - what does that get us? They arent in the same class - we dont even know what class Cooper is part of! We dont know what class his actions and words fit into! People can make comparisons but what has that exercise ever got us? Nothing.
  11. Exactly! ................ hmmmmmmmmmm. Any idea how any chutes Cossey packed or repacked in a given year .... during 1971 ? When did he pack and certify Hayden's chutes? Would he even remember without looking at his records? I assume he had to keep records?
  12. Unreal but not too surprising if true. By the time they got around to testing (2000s) many people had examined and touched the tie .... the good news its not 40 or 400 donors! 14 donors! Im betting there were multiple tests due to the first result. Thanks! All male! Cooper's girlfriend not there!!! Glitter, sparkle, lipstick .... but no dna!
  13. Does anyone know the number of donors found in Q40/41 combined?
  14. Robert H. Edwards's Blog: Great 20th century mysteries December 5, 2022 D. B. Cooper and Flight 305: the Soderlind saga Reconstrucion of different versions of a Cooper LZ by Soderlind.
  15. I have been biased toward #1 all along. As for option 2, no way to know what Cooper's experience was with jumping, or pressure events when leaving planes .... as per 377's comment years ago that all skydivers are familiar with the 'whoosh' and pressure events when leaving planes ?
  16. If by fruitless you mean it wont go back to Cooper and who he was - where he came from .... I agree. Cooper gave no manifesto to be traced. No letters to the editor... no personal letters, no research or school papers, no love letters, no letters home if in service, ................. that we know of.
  17. Robert H. Edwards's Blog: Great 20th century mysteries December 4, 2022 D. B. Cooper and Flight 305: “no funny stuff” Edward's British take on Cooper's language. Interesting. "Get the show on the road" .... origin? Chicago circus culture .... a phrase that becomes part of the American lexicon used throughout the Midwest dialect ? How do Cooper's and McCoy's speech patterns compare ?
  18. Nice to see you here! Welcome home.
  19. Let me pose another question since dna is now part of the Cooper conversation. See Langseth's K2 chart below. The first line lists the loci tested. What do those numbers in the second line stand for ? 14, 15, 17, 18 etc .... two numbers in each box underneath each loci ? Those are 'stringency' values Look that word up as it relates to dna testing. Those numbers indicate Low, Moderate, High strength of match at each loci, between the K2 (Langseth) sample vs the multi donor/Cooper reference profile being used.. Those numbers decide if a person is ruled in or out. Each suspect tested to date has been ruled out. See more on stringency here: https://archives.fbi.gov/archives/about-us/lab/forensic-science-communications/fsc/oct2009/standard_guidlines/swgdam.html and here: https://www.fbi.gov/how-we-can-help-you/dna-fingerprint-act-of-2005-expungement-policy/codis-and-ndis-fact-sheet
  20. Thats correct. Maybe this will help: https://www.nist.gov/feature-stories/dna-mixtures-forensic-science-explaine
  21. What we have done here, is open Pandora's box! I have no doubt some people will focus on this with abandon, and use it to make all kinds of claims, get press attention, and possibly turn the Cooper investigation into a literal circus. It's interesting to me that the FBI actually tested Kenneth Chrstiansen and Duane Weber, people I refuse to even call 'suspects', who were dismissable on other grounds. That must have been a political decision. It seems to me Colbert now has strong grounds for asking that Rackstraw's dna be tested, to get that matter settled once-and-for-all. And possibly a few other 'suspects', likewise. In retrospect, obviously Barb Dayton is not expressed in Q40/41 so that was a fantasy only and a total waste of people's time! Why? Tom Kaye may now get involved in a serious way? Darren may do several podcasts now that the road has been paved for him. Edwards may get involved and surprise us with something ... One key phrase in the report says: " “Based on the STR typing results, specimen K2 (LANGSETH) is excluded as a potential contributor to the mixture of DNA obtained from specimen Q40/Q41.” The key word is "mixture". We aren't dealing with one single profile here but a mixture from x-number of individuals, all male. That has strong implications for arriving at a single profile which is Cooper, and Cooper's alone. Think about that!
  22. DNA report on specimen K2 Langseth, in Part77: This concerns pages 263/264 a two part report in Part77, which is a report on a specimen “K2” identified as a buccal swab from one Jason T Langseth, a suspect in the DB Cooper hijacking. Langseth’s dna is being compared with one or more multi donor partial profiles the FBI has, to determine if Langseth can be ruled in or out as a suspect. Langseth was ruled out after a comparison of nine (9) loci + AMEL for sex in the CODIS13 system. Page 264 shows the Langseth profile obtained. This illustration is not DB Cooper’s profile! It is Langseth’s profile only. This new information may suggest that the multi-donor profile the FBI Lab was using, consisted of at least nine loci to a statistical standard certainty, it felt confident in using for comparisons. After pages 263/-264 other 302s through pages 268, 281, 296 etc document other dna comparisons the FBI made; with suspects such as Weber, Christiansen, etc. Its interesting reading if nothing else. Attached: the Langseth profile, and a Codis13 chart.
  23. DZ went down - guess its back up ? I lost what I was posting so will have to rebuild it all. Later .....
  24. Me too. I live in a barn with skunks.
