i'm assuming you meant cookie composites, not cookie ceramics. i don't think a ceramic helmet would be very light, comfortable or durable. i have a bonehead mamba and haven't had any problems with it since i covered the face shield mounting bolt with tape to protect my dytter. i don't know who you've been talking to, but i haven't heard anyone bad-mouthing bonehead. it might help if we knew what sort of helmet you were looking for, open face, full face or camera.... boobie plates. great idea, but let's hope nobody decides to copy this for testicular cancer fund raising. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

unlike the beta-vhs debacle however, the media for both is the same size. universal players are already here, though expensive. they'll come down, and you won't have to chose. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

derald (the balloon owner/pilot) comes up from maine to sussex every year on the american thanksgiving weekend. you should be on our mailing list! pm me your email and i'll add you. he said he'll come back up in the spring as well if there's enough interest. we were supposed to jump saturday but got winded out, sunday morning we tried again and got two loads up before the winds picked up again. yup, he was descending. apparently they have to be (especially with a multi-way exit) otherwise the balloon will cork, risking a collapse with the sudden ascent. the pilot said they look for about 500' a minute, so when he says go, you go or you waste a lot of altitude in a short time! and yes, it's a blast. nothing like a silent, still-air exit. i ended up completing the front loop because of the way i exited. lots of fun though! you actually feel the acceleration from 0 - 120 instead of 90 - 120. nice! looks like you got more altitude than me. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

just bought my third mac this year and am now officially windows free. my wife has an imac for home and a macbook for work, i have a macbook pro. i might get a mac mini for a home media server as well. if you really, really need windows for something, you can always get parallels or boot camp and run it on the mac. no-sew finger trap. simple to do with a home-made fid, leaves your brake lines with no knots, like a sewn trap, but it can be undone with a little patience. works great for me, your mileage may vary, i'm not a rigger, blah, blah, blah. speaking of parachutes on tv, anyone else watch csi new york a few weeks ago when stella's admirer sent her a parachute? laughed my ass off, she was looking at it and the label on it said 'size: adult'. from where i sat (at the molson center in montreal last saturday), they put on a hell of a show. of course, i was looking to enjoy myself, not pick it apart. wolfgang may not have the experience mike anthony had, but he kept up. eddie and dave had an amazing amount of energy throughout the show, and that's not taking into account that eddie is 52 and dlr is 53. the kicks weren't as high as they were back in the day, but they were there. the vocals didn't sound like a studio album, but who does when it's live? the guitar solos were still amazing, particularly 'cathedral'. these observations are subjective, but at least based on personal observation, not a you-tube video. your mileage may vary. in terminal velocity, there was the scene where charlie sheen jumped into the power station, landed in the chimney, cut away his main, ran around looking for the micro-disk, then got chased onto the roof by bad guys. he popped his reserve and kited it off the roof. if that didn't happen, then i thought it up and hereby copyright the idea. it worked in 'terminal velocity' as well. that's two separate, well documented instances of success. i say go for it. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

okay, i thought this was going to be a 'pick your life's theme song', in which case it would probably be that circus/calliope tune that plays at the start of 'the show must go on' by three dog night. when i checked the site, i got these: uk: The Model / Computer Love - Kraftwerk odd, because i work with computers (unix admin) but hate them. us: Centerfold - J. my mac vs. vista experience was kinda funny. i was in a best buy and wanted to see the newer intel imacs (i have one of the risc models at home). i played with it for a bit, took a picture of myself with the built-in camera, added an effect with photo booth, all in about a minute without ever reading anything. went over and saw a new laptop with vista. i wanted to see what the new interface was like so i opened a couple of windows. solitaire and freecell. the damn thing locked up solid and wouldn't do anything. which one would you buy? i have an xp laptop at home and i haven't had any major issues with it, but it's replacement will be a mac book pro. just waiting for leopard! mine came with a hand mount and a wrist mount. if you bought it new, you should have one. if you bought it used, i'm sure a new one could be purchased from l&b. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

i haven't had any problems with ventilation on mine. i just leave the visor up until the door opens to keep it from fogging up, but i imagine it's the same with any full face. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

i don't think it's just the cool factor, although that is a part of it. you get a lightweight, low profile pair of glasses and most models have two hinges which makes them more resistant to twisting and breaking off the arms. the price may seem high if you prefer buying $20 shades, but $120 - $150 is a pretty typical price for any higher end sunglasses. you can pay a hell of a lot more for a pair with a designer name on them and not get near the quality. that said, there's lot's of choice, buy what you like and to hell with everyone else. we occasionally have what sounds like an identical plane at our dz, wide body 182, 3 blade prop and 300 hp. i'm not sure about fuel consumption, but i know it hauls ass to altitude, compared to our usual 182. ...moving to new canopy! Any suggest?
kingbunky replied to mariobat's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
*250 JUMP WONDER WARNING* step one, ask your instructors! they know your and your abilities better than most people here. step two, rule of thumb is 1:1 until 100 jumps (max!), 1.1:1 @ 100, 1.2:1@ 200 etc. that would mean you are looking at something around a 1.1:1 wingloading. at 166 pounds plus gear, you're about 190 out the door. depending on abilities, you're probably looking at a 170. if 166 is your exit weight, then you're probably going to be looking for a 150. i'm assuming the latter is the case as you are already flying a 170 F111. step 3, you're probably looking for a square canopy in the pilot/sabre2/lotus/spectre 'family'. step 4, pick some colors, write a cheque and go skydive! from what i can see in the show, they're hauling fuel and ammonium nitrate to make explosives (amfo), concrete, heavy equipment, and a lot of construction materials for the new debeers mine that isn't in production yet. some of the loads are approaching 50 tons, so flying them in isn't an option. they could probably use military sized hovercraft in the summer season, but i imagine that would be cost prohibitive as well. i would think that if there was enough land to build a railroad, there would be enough to build a year-round highway. the problem is, there's so many lakes that a railroad (or a highway) would be incredibly expensive to build, not to mention 3 times as long. if there was a cheaper way of doing it, they'd be doing it.
