for years i drove tractor trailers around the northeast and canada and always used my road atlas and some scribbled notes. never got lost. okay, so i was temporarily misdirected on a few occasions, but not lost. when i got my new car last year, i checked the built in gps option and like someone else said, it's great for re-routing due to traffic or accidents, but even more so if you want to find a hotel or restaurant. i ask for local info, pick hotel, and it will tell me every one for about 30 miles in any every direction. love it!
