i didn't give you any sort of answer or advice, i pointed out that if you provided more information you might get better advice. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

I'm after a new canopy.... suggestions please
kingbunky replied to shropshire's topic in Gear and Rigging
i'll add a second vote for a lotus. i fly a 170 @ 1.3:1 and it's a very nice handling canopy. i think there is still a 25% discount if you take brian's canopy course which i would also recommend. i know, the rule is 'don't feed the trolls', but on the off chance this is a legit post, here goes. you're asking for advice on canopy selection while giving no information on who you are, where you are, when you last jumped or how many jumps you have. if you want serious answers, you'll have to give people something to work with. you give yourself some good advice (Of course trying one out is an obvious choice) but follow it up with 'but ignore that'. if you're going to ignore your own seemingly sound advice, why would anyone else want to help you out? differences between alti-2 neptune2 and l&b viso
kingbunky replied to virgin-burner's topic in Gear and Rigging
You would be even more doom jumping with polarizing sunglasses and altimeters with LCD display. viso hasa backlight as well. 'perform access' on the top button and the menu gives you the choice to turn it on or off. i agree with the polarized glasses thing. i wear a full face, so i don't wear goggles. thought it was great that i could choose to wear sunglasses if it was bright, worked great with my analog alti, then i got a viso. no more ray bans. now i have gators so i can jump with shades if i want again. -
for most programs, you can just delete the .app file, but some programs do scatter stuff around a little. i use appzapper (might be appzappr or something else cute) to uninstall. you run appzapper, drag the .app file onto it and it will look aound for files that belong with it. it gives you a list of what it finds, and you can choose to keep them or delete them all with one click. it even makes a cool zapping sound when it does it. i read a review that said you could even drag appzapper onto itself. it makes the noise, and when you close it, it is gone from your system. yes, he is dead, but he wasn't in 2002, when the original post was made. odd post to dig up after all this time. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

something that worked for me with a jav j-4/sabre 190 was to cut away the main and carry it (in it's d-bag) in my second carry-on. without the main, the container/reserve fit in my carry-on roller bag. i saw them doing water training in the swoop pond at z-hills during a weather hold. z-hills is a very cool place, and if you're willing to travel for water training, it's a great excuse! "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

i got a gelaskin for mine. looks stylin', protects the top, leaves the bottom open and removes cleanly. got a matching one for my touch as well. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

i have one, but it isn't quite the beast yours is. the only tip i can think of off hand is that if you play world of warcraft (or anything that pushes the system hard), you'll want to get a stand or something that will let air get to the underside. that sucker gets seriously hot! Bonehead makes the Altimount. it is pictured with an altimaster analogue altimeter, but it isn't drilled for anything in particular so a viso would probably work just fine in it. "Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001

Annual Muff Brothers Reunion Mar 21st-23rd
kingbunky replied to happythoughts's topic in Events & Places to Jump
thanks to all the assholes who made my trip to florida so much fun! made 26 jumps, got muffed, had more than one jello shot and a mug of punch. it was a bit blurry after that, but i still managed to wake up for the high altitude load. 1. right room, wrong floor in a women's dorm at UNB. 2. behind the wheel of a friend's pickup. in a field. in a different province. that you had to take a ferry to. thre were three of us, and nobody remembered the boat trip, or who had been driving. please note, this was 25+ years ago. not that it was okay to do it then either, but it was a long time ago. they might have a use, but i've never had any luck with them. i was travelling through hartford, ct (i think) and i jumped into the carpool lane. got behind a guy who was going 5+ mph under the speed limit and i couldn't pass because there was only one lane. look off to my right and everyone over there was zooming along at 10+ mph over the limit. to make it worse, there was at least a lane's worth of real estate wasted to separate the car pool lane from the regular traffic. in los angeles, i noticed that in some places two is considered a carpool, then all of a sudden you need 3. might work if you're from there and know where the changes happen, but it sucks for a tourist. my locking stows will hold the bag closed when i pick it up by the lines, but once the lines are below the cascades, they slip out when i try. i use small bands and the tube-stow double larks head trick to tighten them up. no dice. i think (in my vast experience ) that as long as the locking stows hold and the rest of them hold the lines well enough to ensure an orderly release, it should be good. Questions about viso readings
kingbunky replied to climboutandhang's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
it will if you change the jump type.... i keep forgetting to do that on hop'n'pops and they don't log. then i have to figure out how to change the jump number to get things back in synch with my log book. ah, i see. i checked their site but didn't see anything that said it would do those things, but it didn't say it wouldn't either. that would be my primary use for it, so i guess google earth will have to do, even though i like something i could use offline if i wanted. too late for today, but a great seasoning for red meat (and other stuff) is Back of the Yards Garlic Pepper Butcher's Rub from The Spice House. one jar, everything you need. cracked pepper, kosher salt, garlic and a couple other things. i'm looking for something similar to m$ streets and trips that will run on a mac. i know, i can run boot camp, install xp and run streets and trips, but i'd rather have a native mac app. anyone use one that they'd recommend? i have gps in the car, but i like to plan trips on the laptop first.
