There was a PC10 released about a year or so after the PC7. The 7 was the first, replaced by the 10. 10 had a better lens but did not take DV in. After that it all got kinda busy, but the numbering sort of followed chronological order. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Do you expect the UN to enforce its sanctions? Cause it does not. " The UN can't 'enforce' anything, only its member states can. If individual members conduct sanction busting there is nothing the UN can actually do about it, apart from imposing more 'peer pressure' on the offenders. The UN does not have permanent military force, it doesn't have ships to blockade ports, neither does it have troops to siege borders. The UN is only as strong as its member countries. The UN is a vast and complex organisation comprising representatives from various countries and provides various guidance via sub organisations, eg the IAEA is linked as is the WTO and the IMF. Even the ICAO is part of the UN. http://www.un.org/aboutun/chart.html So if we ignore the UN, who would conduct monitoring of nuclear activities, cause with out the UN there is no IAEA. I understand many folks reluctance to be governed by yet another layer of buraucracy, but I'm not seeing any workable alternatives to the UN, from anyone, not even a whisper of a suggestion. Think about the alternatives before you villify them next time. Oh and by the way folks, those who want Iran to sell their oil and suspect Iran are rogues for not exploiting their own limited resources, consider this, why haven't you drilled the North Slope dry yet? Is it because you don't want to? If so why not? The technology exists to do it safely and responsibly. Same case deep water GOM, and West Coast. Wouldn't it make more sense to make Iran a strategic partner for American oil reserves, given the state of stability in Venezuela and Nigeria right now? Consider also that many of you have a gloomy outlook for Saudi Arabia, surely having more friends than enemies in the Middle East should be high on your agenda, now more than ever. Bill's suggestion is beneficial on so many levels I can't believe you are all dissing it in favour of conflict, a conflict that neither the US nor the rest of the world can afford. Sorry I was pissy earlier Ron, bad day at the office, didn't mean to rag on you .

"I'm wondering now if my atty knew about this and was planning to use it to prove it didn't come from my printer?" That would only prove that it didn't come from your printer. Doesn't mean you didn't print it somewhere else and send it. I can access a gazillion printers straight from my desktop, but then again, I work for Halliburton and would probably be immune from such scrutiny. Either way, glad its all cleared up for you. -
"Why are you getting pissy? " I'm getting pissy because the UN is worth more than a wee scandal or two, that, to my knowledge has not been finalised yet. I'm getting pissy because without the UN the world would be a far worse place, and some people here just can't see that. Without the UN there is no means of getting multilateral action such as sanctions to work, so escalation to conflict in scenarios like this is even more likely. I'm getting pissy because people are so hung up on the Oil for Food issue that they just can't see that. "I asked a question that you refused to answer." No, first you asked Bill a question, then I asked one of you. Quid quo pro, Ron, you have not answered my question regarding sanctions, and nyaah, nyaah, I asked it of you first. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Fuck it, just invade them then, and anyone else that doesn't toe the line. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson

How would you impose sanctions without the UN? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson

"Well I pop the top off, go to take a drink and the rim feels like cut glass" Spydercos, man they are lethal. Get yourself a nice Swiss Army knife. "gee, there's really no way to get any stitches because there's nothing to sew together, so fuck it hand me another beer..." and that roll of duct tape. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. So how does this work with a copier that only does black and white copies? Black only toner, and no yellow ink tank. ""serial number of each machine coded in little yellow dots" in every printout." -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Further stipulation being that French inspectors must visit the plants daily." The plants would have to built by Condu, the big French construction consortium. I've dealt with them in the past. We did a lot of work with Cheney when he was at Halliburton. We had Condu before, and we hope to have Condu again. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Inspired. I'd support such an approach.

"Very interesting have you tried the Black eye from cool industries??? Nope." Maybe someone from Waycool would send you one, purely for comparison, fair playing field, and all that. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. anyone thought of putting 2to1's on a tandem rig?
nacmacfeegle replied to 321seeya's topic in Gear and Rigging
Okay, I'll ask, what are 2to1's? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson -
"the US is unable to account for some 2 tonnes of plutonium from its inventory" I think we've touched on this before, John. Isn't this down to the 'standard' way they count this stuff, and inherent inaccuracies in that process? I don't think its just USA and FSU, I recall us Brits having a hard time balancing the books for this sort of material too. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Let's get our terminology straight here." I know, but you were really replying to the other guy, weren't you.

"What are the advantages/disadvantages?" They are stronger, and lighter, and less volume than rapide links. They don't damage your slider grommets, if the slider comes down fast. They don't need those plastic bumpers which have been known to snag steering lines, leading to a locked in spiral. They don't unscrew themselves. In my opinion they are inherently safer than rapide links, not just a fashion accessory. Other opinions may vary.

Getting set up for video and stills
nacmacfeegle replied to PROGRESSIVE's topic in Photography and Video
Apart from "get a Mac", which is basically true if you are only going to use a pooter for media manipulation. "I currently have a Gateway computer that is running Windows 98. " Make sure you are running a 'later' version of 98, IE 98 SE, otherwise you won't be able to get started with a standard firewire card. If you can, think about a USB2 /Firewire combined card, and get an external DVD burner. Check out ADS for suitable stuff.http://www.adstech.com/ Most of their cards come with a software bundle that will get you into editing, then you can decide if you want to stump for more specialised software. Partition the hard drive so that all your apps are on one partition with the video and assorted media on the other. "the Pinnicale Studio Movie Box DV that accommodates both digital and analog videos" Not necessary if you have a digital camcorder that can take analogue feeds into it. It looks like your PC350 will do this. -
"Old FXC's are easy to turn off though. The control was mounted externally and just required a turn of the knob to disarm." Yes, those were the ones I was referring to, in fact, the page here http://www.pia.com/fxc/2B1M12000.htm recommends switching them off if the jump is aborted. For what its worth, I've one misfire with these units at about 11,500, which put me under a round reserve. I was lucky, winds were non existent and I hit the peas.

"Are there any people out there who are GLAD they are smokers?" I curse the day I started. Am about to try for the umpteenth time to stop again, monday morning, no smokes since yesterday afternoon, so far so good. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Nah, not being sarky, just playing on the old Crew Dawgs and their knives joke. There are many good reasons to wear 2 video cameras for competition work, I've seen people (well one person) wearing 3 video (One 16mm film, 2 tape) cameras, and two stills cameras before. If you put food on the table by jumping camera, you can't afford to miss a shot. Check out Henny's page, for a fully loaded helmet. http://www.parashoot.nl/htm/content2.htm -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. I'm a smoker, I've given up a lot of times, but started one time more. If my smoking offends people, I will remove my offending habit from their presence. I won't smoke in other people's houses, cars, or even close proximity if it offends them. I don't smoke anywhere near kids. As for smoking near gear, see Aggie's responses. I wish I'd never started, and if smoking is banned in my local pub, I will support it, ultimately it will help me stop. What are you doing posting, why aren't you resting, or getting busy? Have a good one T. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "I will predict right now that the US will pay less of a role than most think we will, if Iran is in violation of this UN agreement." I think we both hope you are right on that one, but for differing reasons.

"No skydiving for me this weekend" Me neither, snow and rugby.

That really is what I'm saying, if there is no UN, who or what will provide a forum to resolve the world's issues.... There currently is not an available alternative, so warts and all, the UN is the best we have. Europe and the UN? Do you know who provides the largest troop contingent to the UN? Bangladesh and Pakistan! Between them 17,00 troops, vs 430 from the USA. Surprised me too. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "I just don’t know how to respond to that after the corruption we’ve witnessed at the highest levels of the UN." After Watergate, Monica gate, Iran/Contra, WMDs(or not), the Florida vote fiasco, Chappaquiddick, and many others I can't conjure up right now, I'm sure you can figure out some way of reconciling things, surely. The world has been through worse than this, its a minor hiccup by comparison to other things. Have good weekend, I do mean it.
