"From the info I have read, it seems that DVD-R is compatable with most DVD players, is this still true?" If its a big deal, buy a dvd+/- compatible burner, eg the Sony DRU 700 or 710. If a DVD recorder is the way to go for you, you can get similar dual compatibility sets these days, eg Sony (again!

As a father, I feel the same the way as you. Something is not right here, so damn what is and what is not legal, I have to go with my gut feelings. MJ may not be guilty, and the parents may not be entirely innocent, perhaps using the kids as a trap of sort. I don't think we will ever get the truth on this one. Either way Mar, I don't think I'd be entirely comfortable if the Mininac was hanging out at Neverland unsupervised. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. I've spent all my 20 or so years since college on and offshore in the oil business mostly, UK sector primarily, but have been offshore US, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Holland, Norway, Denmark, and just got back from Bangladesh. Its not a bad life, pretty much the same assholes you see onshore, only you can't really escape them as easily. A lot depends on who you work for and which company is running the installation. PM me if you have any specific concerns, and I'll try and help out. If they want you to be a medic, then chances are that they will want you perform some sort of other duty, such as admin (checking guys in and out, organising flights home etc), radio operator, or similar. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Iraq Voter Turnout Placed at 72 Percent
nacmacfeegle replied to bodypilot90's topic in Speakers Corner
"Ok, all you L00ZER Bush bashers can come out of the woodwork now and concede YOU WERE WRONG about the Iraqi elections. Step on up and say a few words, it'll make you feel better. Your numbers are many, and your silence is defeaning and repugnant. You know who you are, and so do the rest of us. " Hehe, I'll bite. Free elections in a free Iraq are a good thing, I was pleased to see them being conducted without the stress that was expected. Whether the end justifies the means, well I guess we could discuss that for a while yet. -
"I like pie. I wonder what the fine is for eating pie." I'm guessing that you, like me, can eat pie without taking our hands off the wheel.......and whilst still exercising 'due care and attention'.......

Bagdad Mayor to Erect Statue to Honor Bush
nacmacfeegle replied to Gravitymaster's topic in Speakers Corner
I reckon it would be better if they elected Bush as mayor of Baghdad. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson -

"Where did he go? Someone ratted him out to his boss, someone from here aparently. They told some untruths about what PK was posting, and the amount of time he was spending on DZ.com, so he got bagged. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1419687#1419687 Sucks, huh? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "I bet you won't see THIS story coming from any conservatives on this board: --snip--- A number of U.S. oil companies, including ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, " etc, etc...... Au contraire Bill, Ron and I discussed this back in august last year when the first subpoenas were issued. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1195562#1195562 Okay, I'm definitely not right wing, but I'm pretty sure Ron is not from the left...

"I only ask for him to make coffee before I kick him out of bed in the morning." Do you keep the kettle and cafetiere on the nightstand? My sweetie insists that I make her a cup of tea every morning, but only after I've fixed the fire (main heating in the cottage), taken the bairn his cup of milk, and taken the hound out.

Okay, I've been looking into this recently, you probably want to get a 'multi-region' model, so your DVDs can be played anywhere (think tourists), and that it is capable of writing both DVD-R and DVD+R. PAL and NTSC is an issue you may have to examine. Next Q is whether the unit will hang off a PC or whether it is to be operated like a VCR. Assuming it is the latter, I'm seriously considering getting a Sony RDR GX700 for home use, all I'm waiting for is the price to drop below 300 quid. I like firewire, this machine has it, but not all do, so you may have to look at this aspect, I don't now if thats a biggie to you. Another thing to consider (which isn't a consideration for me) is that some models come with a built in hard drive, so you could keep stock footage/leaders etc on the HD to aid your video production. Although the same thing could be done with standard Minidv footage, its just a bit of a scutter.. If your machine is to hang off a PC editing system, I'd recommend the Sony DRX-710UL, I got one recently and have been mighty impressed by it, I haven't made any beer mats with it yet.

"Once while I was at college I successfully argued that cutting down the rain forest was a good idea and indeed necessary to the survival of the Human race." Yeah, but was anyone actually convinced? I see this forum as less of a place to win arguments, but more to appreciate the different takes folk have on events, policies etc. Its not a place to win arguments (lets face it that simply will never happen), its more a place where we can bridge the gap between cultures, and geo/political divides, perhaps understand each other better, even if we disagree. Thats a good thing, right? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. All the little things about cameraflying...
nacmacfeegle replied to lewmonst's topic in Photography and Video
Femur-ing in big style while the camera is running, returning 2 years later to find the footage is still being watched and enjoyed by your 'friends'. Editing, the amount of time it takes is directly proportional to the number of people asking...is it ready yet? Having to tag everything, batteries, leads tapes, chargers etc, with a wee sticky label identifying it as yours. Losing cameras in fires, can I join your club Lew, I lost mine in a fire this weekend. Oh one last thing NTSC and PAL, and 'DVD-' and 'DVD+'. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
