"edit from it and everything but adjust the zooming." If you have the balls for it .....cut a finger hole in your helmet (I'm pretty sure Aggs has seen what I did with my Gath to get around this.), or get a LANC zoom adaptor, if zooming is your bag.

"I find lying to be abad quality in a leader...Something Clinton and Kerry both do." And the Bush administration hasn't misled us at all, no siree..... Aw c'mon guys, how did we get to rep vs dem from administration of relief aid, surely not all the world's troubles come down to the Whitehouse. Not even I can pin this one on Dubbya, much as I'd like to. Have a good one guys, I'm off for a few beers before heading out to the Bay of Bengal next week, to try and do a little good for the folks there . Courtesy of that other great demon, Halliburton. Have a good weekend. -
And you probably want to type in the sunday name of the cam, in Rem's case it would be DCRPC101.

Yeah, I saw that, Crozby, its quite sad really. I liked PK, he had a pretty good sense of humour. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson

Well, when the likes of you and I give money in a situation like this, its normally to organisations like Red Cross, Medecins sans Frontieres etc. I gave to the DEC, which is a collaboration of a number of UK aid outfits. The role the UN plays is at a much higher level, IE soliciting support from countries rather than individuals, they also co-ordinate the big stuff, organising C130s and such like. So its not really an issue of whether we, as individuals, trust the UN, its a matter of whether our govts trust the UN, and why shouldn't they? After all, the UN is made of representatives from our govts. However, nobody is answering the question, if you don't trust the UN, who else would you trust? And I hope nobody is witholding donations because they don't trust the UN, give it to BJ Worth's scheme instead. -

Yes, I would. Why wouldn't I, and what alternatives would you suggest? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson -
"But I would like to think that honesty is the answer." Or, when you are in a deep hole, you stop digging.

Run a search, as Dave suggests, use the keyword 'bullet cam' or 'lipstick cam'. To answer your query, yes the quality is reduced, however the big question is, is the quality loss significant? Only you can answer that one, as it depends on the use you are going to put the video to. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Nice rant Matt, quality stuff. I know exactly where you are coming from, but having been a Premiere user since 4.2, its all in how you ask the beastie to do what you want. Your example could easily be done via clip motion properties as Jarno suggests, in fact it is the probably the best way to do it. As with with many applications, there is normally more than one way to skin a cat, and only messing around with the prog for months will show you the best way. To extend your analogy, you can't talk to a kid for half an hour and assume he will grow into a socially integrated adult member of society, it takes years (and tears).

There is another even less savoury aspect to leaving your gear unattended, it is one involving possible sabotage, or other malicious tampering. Last year there was a case of a jumper in England who went in after his pilot chute bridle was cut along with his reserve risers. The cutting was done in such a way to avoid detection on a routine flight line check. After much head scratching the Police determined it was a case of suicide, but I remain unconvinced. There have been cases in the US of equipment tampering but I recall they were on military systems, Chuckie probably knows the details of that one better than I. At the end of the day folks you pays your money, you takes your chances. Its not nice to think that our wee family would behave like this, but you have to consider it. Personally, I no longer leave my rig overnight at DZs, and during the day I tend to stash stuff that is attractive in my rig bag, out of sight. But it shouldn't have to be like this. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "I'm sure there are people who live in a 30 foot deep cave in Duluth somewhere with no sunlight at all." A heat pump would probably suit them better, ideal for heating big spaces like caves.

A sub 500 buck Mac may even tempt some of us die hard PC folks to see what we have been missing.

My bad, you are right

The 'portable aspect' is fairly important to me (hence all the external drives, and the laptop engine), for both work and play reasons.

"Here, we dub straight off the AV port, not by firewire, so the dock isn't needed at all." Your probably not getting a digital dub then Chuck, and you will suffer some image degradation via an analogue transfer. Then again, if you don't actually need a digital transfer, say for run of the mill tandems, AFF, 4 way debriefs etc, then it probably is fine. Some events require firewire dubbing, day to day stuff its less important. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Whats the coolest aircraft to jump out of?

"My friend said he saw one at an airshow stationary flying into a 30knt wind!!!" I can believe that, the one I jumped a few years back at the now defunct Paraclan, seemed to me to be airborne at around 30 MPH. -
Spring project turned into a summer wish, and finally, while in Singapore recently on business, I got myself a Sony external dual layer combo drive (plus and dash compatible).http://www.sony.co.uk/ShowProduct.do?site=odw_en_GB&category=CDVD+Rewritable+Solutions&product=DRX-700UL Me likee.

"Oh I forgot the An-2 which is quite nice to jump a couple of times," More of a novelty than fun, be sure to take good book for the climb. In fact you'd be faster climbing a ladder. But they do sound great, and take off at really low speed , well, its just wierd. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Now, I'm curious how many of us will run out and buy some of those new toys?" The 55 and the 1000 both look like they will not accept screw in wide angle adaptors, from the pix I've seen of them. Shame, and apart from that I hate docking stations, they are a pain in the pooper at a busy dubbing station. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
