"No, don't do that. It only slows it down." I beg to differ, but am not going to argue, its not the Corner.

Is this a test for the NWO? Democracy my ass

"What do you expect our troops to do? Let everyone back in without verifying any information? " As much as I dislike this 'liberation' I don't see any way to verify people's identity without some sort of ID card/passport etc. How is the upcoming election to be seen as fair and above board without some form of registration? So yeah, I guess I'm in agreement with you on this one. Also, without verifiable identification, the troops will be chasing insurgents around in circles for a long time. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. You really want to ditch that 'Lone Loser', maybe take an ad out in the personals and get a new trail mate. Something along the lines of the 'Gregarious Ranger' perhaps. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. When this incident ocurred, the 'training' required would have been a D license, and the display team leader's 'approval' that the jump was within the skill set of the demo jumper. So 'training' would have been well recorded. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Truth is, I feel a bit uncomfortable in a headband." Are you okay with lycra bodysuits? Or running around with your underpants on over a pair of blue tights? Personally, I'd opt for the headband, my public don't really need to to see me in lycra...... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "So what is the determining factor?" Social and cultural influences, or plainly put, different strokes for different folks. John and I agreed a long time ago on the validity (or otherwise) of comparing national statistics as he describes. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Is that a 1.7 gig hard drive? Not nearly enough. Try a few things that might help... Partition your HD so that you have a huge space on a separate drive for your footage, etc. Make sure premiere also stores its temp and preview files there. Download a wee application from Canopus called raptest http://www.canopus.us/US/products/free_utilities/pm_free_utilities.asp It will test your system for HD read write speed amongst other things, actually it tests your system's compatibility with a raptor card, but I digress.... Find (google and download) and run enditall, it will safely stop other processes that may be making your system run slow. Only use Premiere etc when you are not running anything else, not the CD, not internet, absolutely nothing else..... Defrag your H/D, and upgrade to a dedicated (for a laptop, probably external firewire connected) Hard drive for video storage. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Yeah I hear you, maybe an old SVHS machine and a new DVD recroder would be about as close as you could expect. Or get someone with a Tivo or Sky+ (probably the best bet) to burn you a copy. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Ulead mediastudio pro 7 - capture problems
nacmacfeegle replied to Markj's topic in Photography and Video
"The captured video doesn't look as good quality as whats playing straight off the camera though.." It always does this CODEC isn't really optimised for showing video via computers, try this as a litmus test, capture some video, do some straight cuts and maybe a coiuple of fades etc, then hose it back onto the cam and check the quality. It should be exactly the same as the raw footage, no visible degradation. On my setup I can keep a tv hooked up to the camera/minDV deck, pooter conected via firewire, I normally watch all my edits on the TV as opposed to the pooter screen. This arrangement certainly works with all the versions of Premiere I have tried, and my favourite 'targets' (a Sony minidv deck-D300, and a sony PC7 with DV inputs enabled) dunno about MSP, but I'd hazard a guess it is possible. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Somebody send him the list of coalition countries, as follows, somebody else can count the European countries.......... Afghanistan, Albania, Angola, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan ,Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Oman, Palau, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Solomon Islands, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Tonga, Turkey, UAE, Uganda, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uzbekistan. I got the list from those approved to bid on reconstruction works, so Spain for example is listed even though they withdrew their troops. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Ulead mediastudio pro 7 - capture problems
nacmacfeegle replied to Markj's topic in Photography and Video
"I can capture video how it is at the moment but I can't change the quality settings etc etc.. " I'm pretty sure you will be stuck with the option of either NTSCor PAL at full DV resolution if you are capturing through a standard Firewire interface. Any image altering, etc will have to be done 'offline'. Other dedicated hardware capture devices may be able to do this resample in real time, eg I think I can capture lower quality settings with my old analogue capture card, but never really saw the reason...... I'm assuming you have hard drive issues for your edit? If not, just capture and edit at full quality, then render down once all the chopping is done. If you choose this route, you will have to alter your project output settings. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "I wonder if any one has asked him if he'd intentionally repeat the experience. Actually, I'm guessing he get's asked the question all the time . . . I'm just unaware of what his answer is. Something along the lines of, "next time switch the bloody camera on!" Weren't some Kiwi nutters exploring this thing, planning on landing on a ski slope. I reckon this is probably the only way to try this, preferably with a strong upslope wind....I'm guessing too much turbulence on a horizontal truck to be able to land on the bed. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "If you haven't seen this version, dust off your old VHS and go rent the VHS version. Be warned, its 4 hours long, but damnit its a good version. I want my DVD! "most murders are urban felons knocking off other urban felons." Aha, not being an 'urban felon' myself, I have very little to fear, ergo, I don't need a gun. But hey, I don't want to stop you from protecting yourself either. Have some frosty frothys (I already have)....its friday.

"Contrary to what many in this world would like to believe, we cannot value life before all else and expect to move forward" This is something we in the UK safety business call the ALARP principle. You do everything within reason to ensure risks are As Low As Reasonably Practicable. IE the cost of the mitigation is not disproportionate to the risk involved. EG why don't we wear a second reserve?.... Because the failure on demand of primary reserves is so low that the hassles involved outweigh the benefits. Nicely summed up by Lord Asquith in a test case.... "'Reasonably practicable' is a narrower term than 'physically possible'and it seems to me to imply that a computation must be made by the owner, in which the quantum of risk is placed on one scale and the sacrifice involved in the measures necessary for averting the risk (whether in money, time or trouble) is placed in the other; and that if it be shown that there is a gross disproportion between them – the risk being insignificant in relation to the sacrifice – the defendants discharge the onus on them. Moreover, this computation falls to be made by the owner at a point of time anterior to the accident." ----Edwards v National Coal Board (1949)---- just for MrM2.

"Do you (or anyone) have a link to a seconds countdown clock that traditionally used to be at the very beginning of all old films? I had one but must have "cleaned" it from my disk by mistake." I'm pretty sure there is one buried inside Premiere. I also got a similar leader with an old card from Pinnacle. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
