The HOTTEST picture I've seen in a long while!
nacmacfeegle replied to AggieDave's topic in Speakers Corner
I like the depth of field, balanced by the good use of shutter speed, good clean colours and also nice composition. Excellent use of PPE (personal protective equipment)as well . And yeah its a hot one. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Iran agrees to suspend uranium enrichment

"Here's a good source." Cheers. -
"If billvon & PhillyKev do so as well, then put on extra socks because Hell is freezing over." Aye, tell Beelzebub to bust out the hot toddies and mulled wine. I liked it too.

Iran agrees to suspend uranium enrichment
nacmacfeegle replied to Muenkel's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, they have promised to behave. I guess we both doubt their sincerity, but they will be being watched, quite closely, and by more than one body. I guess that if they are in breach of their promise, we will need some serious evidence of the departure from agreed activities. I don't think anyone will do anything unless there is clear evidence tabled. The world is probably a bit more fussy over the accuracy of intel after recent events. -
Iran agrees to suspend uranium enrichment
nacmacfeegle replied to Muenkel's topic in Speakers Corner
"Iran already has a likely delivery system" First I've heard, what is the name of the system, or the range & payload etc, any links? just so I can go look for it. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Iran agrees to suspend uranium enrichment
nacmacfeegle replied to Muenkel's topic in Speakers Corner
"So, lets assume for a second I am right" Well, they have a long way to go from enriching uranium to actually producing a serious clear and present danger. The way will be made all the more difficult, to perform shenanigans whilst under close international scrutiny is no mean feat. Its not just enriching uranium, they then have to develop a delivery system for the weapon. I reckon your prediction may be feasible, but the timescale is a little gloomy. I predict that by the time Iran's nuclear programme presents a realistic threat to world peace, Dubbya won't be in office. "What would you suggest the next step be?" Carpet bomb the fuckers, glass parking lot is what they need. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "What did old Nige have to say anyway? How's he keeping, I've not seen him in ages?" I heard his piles have been giving him gip recently. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "That's because before I was a proofreader." I would have thought a proofreader would have known when to give a country its correct tiitle, eg with a capital B in Britain. "and it is not like they just asked Nigel Hetwoodham of 83 Brookhill Road for his thoughts on the matter -- the guy is a government higher-up." So who solicited this statement from George, and in what context was the satement made? And why can't we verify its authenticity? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Disagree Mike..." I do as well, but Mike and I can disagree without things becoming unpleasant. There is a huge gulf between a British public figure discussing an issue with the BBC (thats the British Broadcasting Corporation), and personally exhorting the good and intelligent citizens of the USA to change their laws. The good and intelligent citizens of the USA certainly won't listen to an Uppity Imperialist on these matters, especially not a Scottish one. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "And you interpret that as Britain, the nation, trying to impose gun control on the USA." Sounds like paranoia to me. PJ voted for a guy because he wanted his right to bear arms maintained. Subsequently, that guy got elected. Surely PJ has some faith in the integrity of his administration to actually keep their pre-election promises, regardless of what happens abroad? Or doesn't he trust the guy he voted for? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "In a dramatic reversal of its previous position, the White House this week conceded that emissions of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases were the only likely explanation for global warming. Citing the "best possible scientific information," an administration official, James Mahoney, delivered a report to Congress that essentially reversed the previous White House position set out by George Bush, who had refused to link carbon dioxide emissions to climate change. " I posted this a while ago, now is the time to get your boss to keep his pre-election promises. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Lee, normal, or bare minimum? In the UK it is 200 jumps, a camera brief from an experienced camera flier, and an okay from a CCI who knows you. I think. Fun or commercial, its all the the same in the eyes of the BPA. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "it wis the threat o' ane o' Mither McKelvie's haggis bustin near them." Mither's clootie dumpin's are probably more lethal. The wee fella plays with a train set, I probably won't buy him a real locomotive. He giggles when the toy train crashes into toy cars at the level crossings. By the time he learns to drive, I hope his predeliction for this will have passed. The wee fella builds towers of Lego, I probably won't buy him a real skyscraper. The wee fella really enjoys toppling the Lego skyscrapers, I probably wouldn't be very happy if he was playing with C4 until he is mature enough to know what it is all about. Mininac will probably play with all manner of toy guns, knives, bows and arrows, battle-axes, broadswords, trebouchets, ballistas, and battering rams. It is my reponsibility to ensure that he knows the difference between playing with toys and the real thing. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Edited to add: If being a "damn uppity colonial" is politically correct then you should give me the ok to use towel head to describe the terrorists..." "I call bullshit on that. " Okay, after 3 years of reasonably civilised debate, a reformation of the forums, various non-malicious shenanigans, a war, a major election, and numerous scandals, I've had an official warning, its my first, and anyone passing the Broken Drum in Auchenblae this evening is welcome to partake of the beers I will buy for it.

HR, don't get me started, I'll start to sound like PJ. At least you know where you stand with a lawyer, and they are occasionally useful if you fall foul of the plod. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. The only VCRs I have ever seen are SVCRs. Higher quality recording (still sub-pro level), and worth it in their day, but probably not good value for money compared to modern DVD and HDD recorders now available. You guys don't use SCART much over there, they are great connection systems. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. You don't need to believe in anything to survive, but faith of this magnitude is a very powerful thing. The 'Faith Void' I mentioned above would leave a lot of people feeling hopeless. I reckon this would be a destabilising influence the like of which we have never seen before. I don't think it would change my life significantly, but my parents for example would have a big hole in their lives. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. As an open minded agnostic, as opposed to an atheist, I'd have to say 'disappointed' over 'happy'. As a 'code for life' Christianity is pretty good, and I guess a lot of the 'rules' would still make sense. Some of the detailed stuff is a little strange as evidenced above. I take a little from Budhism as well, just trying to make it all make sense, and find my way in the world. Thats why I'll watch the religious threads, but try not to get sucked into them. I'll leave that to people who have stronger faith than I.

How many terrorists convicted in the US?
nacmacfeegle replied to PhillyKev's topic in Speakers Corner
oooh, oooh, choose me, choose me I know the answer to this one..... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson -
"How about this: IF God is not real; IF the Bible is not true; IF Jesus is not who he claimed to be; and, most importantly... IF it was possible to prove this beyond all doubt... Would you be happy or disappointed? " I think I'd actually be sad for my brothers and sisters, there would be a huge 'Faith Void' to fill, and that would be pretty wacky, in a bad way. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. King James version is hus.. "And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:" But there's lots of strange stuff in this chapter of Deut. http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Deu/Deu023.html -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Yeah, I like:- Les Negresses Vertes- from France. Clannad- Irish Gaelic, haunting vocals. The Carmina Buranna- Carl Orff mostly in latin I guess, also loads of other classical stuff and Opera I haven't got a clue about, I just like the tunes. I used to listen a lot to Runrig, they sing a lot in Scottish Gaelic, but they've split now, fond memories of their farewell gig at Stirling Castle though. I like lots of African music too, but can never make out what they are singing about, just jolly choonz mostly. And then there's Eminem, I'm sure there's English in there somewhere. Too much music, not enough time for it all.

As long as it was widely accepted, you know kinda like the planet is round, no argument type of thing. It would be good news. The minister would be probably be pleased to see me back in church.
