  1. Any clues on correct and proper pronounciation for that one Fishy? Almost right with the translation....what i got is "St. Mary's Church in the hollow of white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio near the red cave" Also known as that place with the funny name. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 2. I'd be wary jumping camera with your experience level. However, for what its worth, the wide angle will depend on the type of filming you are doing, tell us what you intend to film (freefly/RW/Big wyas/Tandem etc), and how you intend to film it, (inside/outside, flightrecorder) and someone will recommend a wide angle lens. Think about your jump numbers...seriously, if I were you I'd wait a while.. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 3. Told you I didn't read the rag much. Feck, I must have been away that week.
  4. And from what I gather from a few radio programmes recently, they also have an acute labour shortage. Who'd a thunkit?
  5. "Don't you love socialism." Don't really know how to answer that. LOL
  6. 'the Mirror is a shit newspaper' I'll say it again, The Mirror is a shit newspaper, even if it panders to people of the same political colour as me. Their boss Piers Morgan is a knob, remember the British Iraqi prisoner abuse fraud?....That was the Mirror. That little jape didn't do anything to help a nasty situation, it may even have cost good people their life, and it should have cost Morgan his job. I don't often agree with the Gravitymaster, but the Mirror and the Independent are out of order with their headlines today. Yeah the Americans voted in a president who may not be popular over here, but thats their right, and thats democracy baby. We'll just have to suck it up and deal with it, because lets face it, there's fuck all we can do about it. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 7. "Still, It's always nice to see some twit make a fool of himself." You've come to the right place for that Mike. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  8. "How can 59,054,087 people be so dumb?" Y'see, there really is no need for that sort of headline, its just plain rude. It is a left wing paper, which I guess corresponds to your 'extreme liberal' classification. The Independent was also pretty inflammatory. I don't read the Mirror, thinking leftists opt for the Guardian, their headline is much more polite. See here for a taste of our printed media today http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/3981139.stm Don't take it personally, our media is generally much more abrasive than yours, and it will be yesterday's news tomorrow. By way of compensation... "The Telegraph's cartoonist Matt depicts a forlorn-looking man sobbing into his beer at a bar. The barman is shown explaining to another customer that the man is not a Democrat but a lawyer." -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  9. Damn Liberals (left leaning right wingers), you'd never get a good Socialist (right leaning left winger)recommending you guys give your guns up. Well, not if I wanted to get elected I wouldn't -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 10. Kilts, kilts are okay aren't they? I quite like getting a bit of air down there -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  11. "said Barack Obama, newly elected senator from Illinois whose victory provided one of the few bright spots for the Democrats" Aggiedave mentioned him lyesterday, and I think we will be hearing a whole lot more from this guy. I think someone who understands the third world will be a great benefit to the US. "I have found the whole dynamic of these elections extremely interesting and informative. " Not to mention entertaining. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  12. "Please, give me something to smile about with regard to what is going on in England lately." Dunno, I live in Scotland, how are things with you in Alaska.
  13. " "Nahh! Not rotten enough!" " Good to smile now and again though. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  14. That A is well deserved. What was the brief for the assignment. Landscape photography is a whole lot tougher than snapping from a viewpoint. Good work. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 15. " Let's say we were on the moon and I was driving my truck, but it broke down. 16. "There's no possible way you can justify calling legal behavior a breach of the public peace." 18. "Maybe they should prohibit bible-carrying in the polling place too. After all, no one needs a bible to vote. Check the goddamn things at the door! " Some might argue that a Bible is potentially more dangerous than a sidearm. But thats a different thread altogether.
  19. "Then you have the problem of a skydiving president showing up to a summit with China wearing cutoffs, a boogie t-shirt and with a case of beer..." What kind of beer? Och, the prez would probably be a belly flier, we'd end up seeing the skydiving community split down the middle. Maybe some 527s would form showing how despicable style and accuracy really is, we might see Crew Dawgs for Truth campaigns, and the opposition would demand to see the Prez's log book to see if he really earned his SCR, or whether he was present for his entire first jump course. There could be some cool new initiatives though.... No static line student left behind. The coalition of the willing to pack. The fight against the axis of Farmer Mcnasties. The Whitehouse lawn would make a cool landing area, air conditioned packing in the oval office, and annual boogies at Camp David. Lets face it, no shortage of nice jump ships Yeah, I could go with this after all. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  20. I reckon terror won the election for Bush. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  21. "I think we will approach Iran more slowly, and NK more slowly than that, most likely through diplomatic means. " I couldn't agree with you more Josh, I don't think it would be good tactically, or dare I say it politically, to open a new front without stability in Iraq. I agree that the borders need to be secure, and also the Fallujah situation is likely to be influential. The assault on Fallujah is likely to get ugly, both in terms of collateral damage and casualties to the coalition. I fear that the insurgents in this area will fight to the last, and thats going to be expensive. Hope I'm wrong, but I have an uneasy feeling about this. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  22. "I don't get why a gray frame with a gray tube sticking out of it is worth millions." Thats not what its worth, but it is what some folk are prepared to pay for it.
  23. Damn right its been too long, but sadly I won't be going anywhere this side of christmas, I was hoping to get to Eloy, but the family is coming over from New Zealand. Maybe spring? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thats what I had to do when I was in your shoes a while ago. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 25. "We should all measure stuff in Stone! I am absolutely svelte when measured in Stone!" I hear you brother Deuce, and here's another, if you measure length in millimetres it sounds way more impressive. Folks, it doesn't really matter what unit we use, as long as we know how to convert between them.
