  1. Its been a few years since I was last there, but good people generally, nice planes, and a good vibe. These days I look for more in a DZ, like creche facilities, but I'm probably being too fussy. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 2. I hear using nylon fixing screws can be good for your survivability too. But good thoughts nevertheless Andy.
  3. "I simply can't fathom the sudden interest in changing the status quo." Right wing paranoid hoplophiles are kinda twitchy by nature. They can't help it, hence they get our pity and not our scorn. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 4. 6 vs half a dozen on the leatherman thing, point being there are more useful tools around than a single blade lock knife, ounce for ounce. The Victorinox Swiss Card for example has 13 'tools' and weighs 20 grammes, and you wouldn't get arrested for carrying it around.
  5. Symbiosis have made all but one of my suits for me, I have no complaints.
  6. I met the Queen Mum once, she seemed all right to me. "Charles is our wanker though, so back off." Absolutely.
  7. "Tell me... why didn't your anti-blade-carrying laws stop this guy from carrying a sword into a church and starting to swing it?" The same reason as your weapons carrying permits did not protect the 13 victims of the DC sniper, knives, revolvers, or even pointy sticks could not have saved those people. You can't legislate for fucking lunatics. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 8. "Prince Charles is a "Wanker." " Well, lets face it, only liars and angels don't 'bash the bishop' from time to time, aha, I see you have someone in office who fills both criteria, handy. By the way, Prince Charles, like many others in the Royal Family actually served, I understand that there is some doubt over your liar/angel's military service. Prince Charles is also a parachutist, CIC of our Parachute Regiment, and patron of our BPA. Are you insulting a fellow skydiver without ever having met him? What a narrow outlook you have, must suck to be you. "Q: Why don't the Brits make computers? A: They have yet to find a way to make them leak oil " hehe, neat
  9. If you are intending to carry a knife as a tool, the Spyderco (albeit a good blade) comes a poor second (in usefulness terms) to Leatherman or Swiss Army type models. If the carry is for self defence, well, as with our numerous gun debates, the Government is not about to admit that it can't protect the people. So thats not going to fly either. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 10. "Okay, then it's Scotland that's being moronic." hehehehe. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  11. Nacmac, you're evil and sneaky. That can be attractive in a guy Wendy W. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's what a lot of girls say when they pass over the average, "nice" guys. And then when the evil sneaky guy fucks them over, treats them like shit, cheats on them, suddenly they call him an asshole and lump all guys with him." You need to go out and get laid more, or maybe even just get laid. I can understand why nice gals would lump 'nice guys' like you with all the other assholes.
  12. "God put fossils there to test our faith." Hmm, does that make the search for, and acquisition of fossils, and similar products of that era a religious mission? Oil for example...... Hmm... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 13. "I think that for the very slight difference in weight I would go for the HC over the PC, simply for the added convenience of no 'docking station', and the extra battery time." From what I gather, the Lanc port (Cameye connection) on the HC series is in the wrong place for side mounting, maybe an issue, may not be. Dunno. Not sure about where the video ports are either, it would be a pisser to have to demount the cam every time you need to dub. Again, I think it just affects the side mounters amongst us. Is anyone here using a side mounted HC series and can confirm or otherwise these assumptions? Oh, I don't like docking strations either. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 14. "Until every government in every country sits up and DOES something, it dont mean a thing. " Like signing and enacting the Kyoto protocol? CO2 emissions are about to go throug the roof with development at unprecedented rates in the Asia, the subcontinent, South America, and soon, Africa. If the already industrialised countries don't set the lead in emissions control, and environmental reponsibility, I reckon we will be well and truly fucked in a remarkably short time. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 15. "I can handle chilling with just about anybody." I've had lots of beers with my right wing friends, I've even been known to fraternise with English people. You know how hard that is for a Scot to admit. I'm an open minded agnostic, Budhist if anything, so religious types don't really phase me either. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 16. "maybe sebazz could do a site on the history and relative merits of the 3-hole punch?" Another of those odd trans atlantic things, we use mainly 2 and 4 hole punches over here. Mind you, the paper is a slightly different size, but not significantly. So much for standardisation -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 17. "Likewise, I wouldn't jump with someone who was part of a terrorist group. " How would you know? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  18. From the link http://24.97.84.9/stapler/history.htm "The earliest stapling machine we know of was built during the 1700's for King Louis XV of France. Each individual staple was hand made and inscribed with the insignia of the Royal Court." Posh staples! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 19. "I find that disgusting too. Come on people, we are all skydivers. Treat your fellow jumpers with respect even if you disagree with his politics. WTF is wrong with people?" You're right, this is pretty despicable and I'm saddened that a fairly cosmopolitan DZ like Empuria left this lasting impression. Its only politics folks. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 20. "...but if you come anyway, bring some scotch and we'll down it!" That goes without saying, Vinny, not just any old Scotch either, the good stuff. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 21. You just had to burst that bubble, didn't you. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  22. She loves me. super cool -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  23. Yeah, I hear you Billy, but it has to worth a dibble, certainly cheaper than a new monitor.
  24. Sounds like you are trying print what could be described as a contact sheet. It may be that your existing catalogue software can do this. I know the software that comes with Cannon cameras (Zoombrowser I think) can do this pretty easily. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
