Suprise Suprise... Bad for Bush, good for Kerry
nacmacfeegle replied to rhino's topic in Speakers Corner
"Ask NacMac, he probably knows it all, he works for them, I bet they have white linen lunches everyday from all the money Cheney gave them. " Hey Malachi, don't do that, you made me snarf my Moet all over the Beluga, man I hate it when that happens. Seriously, all they tell us is that this entire thing (fuel pricing and other military support type contracts) was above board and clean, unlike a few other embarrassing but unrelated incidents. I now work with KBR (I'm contracting, not staff, same as when I was working with Mustang in Texas), a division of Big Red, most of the stuff I do these days is aimed at UK market, with a little overseas stuff in Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, and Azerbaijan, but its mostly domestic stuff these days. My division is pretty tight on business conduct, I can't speak for government support divisions. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "ASBOs" -- Just how insane is life under Britain's laws?!
nacmacfeegle replied to peacefuljeffrey's topic in Speakers Corner
"Therefore, the net result of ASBOs is greater personal freedom for the population as a whole, with specific removal of certain freedoms for those who have abused such freedoms." Mike, the success or otherwise of this piece of legislation will largely depend on its application. That means we have to trust the judgement of people like you and your colleagues. I think this will work just fine, keep up the good work. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "There never were "10 children a day" dying from gunfire. That's a bullshit statistic cooked up by Handgun Control Inc." Huh? So what is it laddie, a bullshit statistic, or a good link? Your words from a couple of posts up "Here's another good link Here's an extract from the GOOD LINK "Child Gun Deaths Continue to Decline .. blah blah... ""Each day, 10 children and teens are killed by firearms" Still looking for the 4 rules for gun safety be right back....... Edit>>> Okay, they are not the rules for gun safety I've seen before, but they do have a nice picture of a gun, showing which part is the slide, the chamber, and the magazine. Handy! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. From the link I posted and you repeated.."And according to an estimate published in the Police Review there were then possibly as many as four million illegally held guns in the country" This was referring to period around the time the Hungerford Hoplophile fucker was building an arsenal. Pre-ban era. The next reference we saw to an estimate of the number of illegal handguns in circulation was post ban era, and it was 3 million. But like I said, I'm not hanging my hat on these numbers. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Did you read it??? the kid didn't die, he shot his own father, on purpose, with his mother's handgun. Not really an accident, but should it be murder....he was only 10 years old after all. Good job in reducing accidental deaths though, especially those of the wee ones.

One reason I don't really like unregulated private firearms ownership, is that the owners can be irresponsible with them. I don't doubt that our regulars here are responsible with their weapons, its just that not everybody is. Here is a story of a ten year old boy who murdered his own father with his mothers handgun. "US youngster 'shoots father dead'" From Texas, earlier this year. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3609598.stm -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "How does that make any sense?" I did say it was tenuous, but hey, its good to see you have not given up on this yet. You're stoicism is admirable. Point is, 4 million illegal guns pre ban. 3 million illegal guns post ban. Voila, one million illegal guns less . Not that I'd seriously use estimates and unverifiable data sources to try and make a serious point. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Scott, what is your budget? Do you have a burning preference for PC vs MAC? Does does the machine have to preform other tasks (my systems also have to run PC only engineering software for example), games, surfing the net etc. Finally, how serious are you, and what is your intended format of the finished video (web, vhs tape, dv tape, DVD etc?). You need to know the job you are intending to do, in order to assemble suitable tools.

"I made my point that the US should annex Britain into a 51st state." What, annexe the UK, and I see in other threads, Canada? Sounds like vile, imperialistic, nation building to me. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Kerry fails at being someone he isn't...again.
nacmacfeegle replied to tunaplanet's topic in Speakers Corner
You're a 'Scotsman' reader Tuna? Not a bad paper, a little too much to the right for my tastes, and too focussed on Edinburgh. Good Sunday sister paper though. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. His contribution to the evolution of music shuld not be underestimated. Bands like the Undertones, the Clash, The Sex Pistols, Joy Division, and many many more may never have made it without John's patronage. He's responsible for teh commercial introduction of other genre's such as Reggae, rap, and of course Punk into mainstream broadcasting. He is already sorely missed. RIP John. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. I'd rather invest in an Archos. http://www.archos.com/products/fam_photo_video.html I mean, still pictures are sooo last century. They are actually pretty neat wee toys, and video is good enough to be played on a full sized TV. Quality is about the same as a VHS tape, and the compression system handles fast moving action pretty well. Seriously, think about one of these, you could potentially a good portion, if not all of skydivingmovies.com around with you..
