My poor friend! After you've done so much good for the dz.com community's solidarity??! (Just look around at your local DZ; chances are SOMEbody out there will be wearing one of Pammi's skillfully made, one-of-a-kind necklaces) Pammi, do give us the name(s) of the dastardly bastard(s) that dared to thrust the pale importance of their needs over yours (ahhh, besides Merrick, o'course!) We can avenge you, you know-- if you so desire-- shall we tar and feather them, as was boldly done to (Trickster) Rickster in his hotel room so many years ago? Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

Outcome so far: Well, Prost, I thought I had a good URL link for AirFX at last, but it turns out this page is under construction and NG for even communication purposes-- I have one more contact number for them, a land-line and will try that number next week. Oh, well, it's a shame, but this mistake is a learning experience- I've learned even Quincy tent operators can be ripoffs. Brokeneagle. Jest look outside, Clay!! 'S beautiful-- snowin steadily- 'bout 1/2 inch stickin' here at my house; heard some businesses downtown are letting folk off early 'cause of the snow Got a 5-person sled and a willing co-conspirator 17-yr-old daughter waiting to see if we get more... and congrats on th' freedom ta fly... Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

Craig, thank you! Very cool! I have a fix on them; the URL I have now is www.airfxjump.com Glad to get it; I really do like the design and colors on the suit- now to get it fitted for winter- doesn't get snowy much here in GA, but does definitely get chilly enough to have to layer up for altitude! Thank you very much- Blue Skies and soft landings always-- (grin) Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

Besides reading everything you can find on both rigs, try a sampling on of each type you're considering for comfort and fit- I use an older Dolphin, one retro-fitted from the orifginal snap design, and have done RW and attempted sit-flying with no problems; haven't tried a Wings yet, but I like their look a lot- can you try one on to make a test jump? Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

Thanks, Iflyme! Hopefully I can find a link to AirFX somewhere or someone on this forum will know of them-- the good thing about your choice of class is that even if you do end up laying out a fair bit for a machine, it won't take much time at all for you to be able to make money for yourself with it-- good luck on the classes! Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

Thanks, Dutch- you're a good man (but I knew that) I'd like to think I'll get a contact # or addy for them that's good-- guess just because you have a tent at Quincy doesn't mean shit except you have a tent at Quincy.... too bad, too--- 's a damn nice suit-- guess I'll start askin' the guys tomorrow at the DZ if they can add material to it..... hate to be sexist as well as naive, but I really am still amused at having mostly guys to be the ones to see about sewing stuff-- when I was growing up, a guy that sewed was looked at as being REAL funny, or a hermit-- see you at Rome? I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

Welcome, Ben! I live in Atlanta, and jump in Rome at Atlanta Airsportz as well- I think it's an excellent DZ-- we have a terrific bunch of people that like to jump with everyone, a cool Porter to jump, and a huge landing area with plenty of outs. The DZOs honestly care about the people, too- they always check to make sure everyone's safe and accounted for on each load, and I can personally vouch for their quick, calm and efficient reactions if an injury occurs there. Check out all the DZs; each has a different and distinct personality. You'll find easily where you're comfortable

Welcome, dude- you fit right in..... Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

MarshMan, hate to tell you this, but I'm sure you have an inkling of it already-- your parent(s) may NEVER accept your chosen sport. Mine never did... my dad was closest, told me I had bigger balls than he did, but he's been gone 8 1/2 years now, to my mom, I can't talk about it or about my jumpin' buddies, show her my friends' videos, or EVER expect her to come out to the DZ- she hates the very idea of it, and aggressively cuts me down verbally every chance she gets, now that I broke my "good" leg on a misjudged landing, ESPECIALLY for wanting nothing but to continue in it-screamed at me again just last nite, and she just got back from a three-week jaunt to Australia with her cronies, and the very first thing out of her mouth is what she'll do to me if I EVER jump again-- but I look at it this way; there is so much bad shit I COULD be into that I'm not(see notes above on Hell's Angels memberships), and since this is the one thing that really makes me happy that I really want, it's not too much to ask. I've never had their support here, but I've never really depended on it, either (see notes above on dz family) I look at folks wistfully whose parents are supportive or even (gasp) there at the DZ to cheer them on, but I also know I have my "preferred" family for my support- good friends and/or fellow jumpers- as well as my blood relatives in my life. 'S a good thing...

One old original dz.com lurker, under same name. Talk much more with forced home-time, hopefully will be mobile, jumping, working, working out, solvent and more silent soon!...

When I was at Quincy this past August, I ordered a freefly suit from the AirFX tent- There was no way I could afford DaKine's rags, and AirFX seemed to be knowlegable and efficient; their price just couldn't be beat! They measured me, and I explained I needed a loose suit to fit winter clothing under. The suit arrived in late October- it was terrific, but for one thing-- it was skin-tight-- no way to fit bulky warm clothes in there with me! I sent it back for corrections to the return address on the package it was mailed in (that was the only address I had for them), but it was returned again to me in a week with an explanation from the Vero Beach, Florida post office that this P.O. Box no longer existed for AirFX. If I have to, I will ask my friends here that are handy with a needle to help with this, but I would much rather ask AirFX to repair their error. Does anyone here know of a correct mailing address for this company? Thanks, guys! Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

Proud of you, snowflake; that was a good deed- even if the jerkoff owner didn't have the class to do you right, we recognize your efforts- good job!
-
GCX, who told you ya couldn't take both A and B tests at the same time??! 'Course you can- heck, if you've got the requirements (including jump numbers, water training, night jumps, etc., you can take 'em ALL at the same time-

All our prayers for Jason's family and friends; the worst/harshest part of our sport is to lose someone... I pray the rescue team does their job quickly so that healing closure can begin... Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

Merrick- so sorry, my friend! What a shit way for the company to do the dirty deed! Sounds like the crap deal the workers have here in Georgia; you can be fired for any reason given by the company, and you can't fight the canning- Much empathy- may you find something much better!! Hugs to you and the family- Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

I've not had a problem yet with my glasses fogging up in my Z1, but I haven't had a chance to jump it in any really cold weather yet- warm weather's fine. Did you contact the company, and what was their response? I've heard they can be hard to reach with less than desired results. Brokeneagle. " I see you have been hanging around the Rome DZ too much..." Nope, Georgia courthouses.... I heard the rednecks are jumping at Cedartown.... can you hang around a DZ too much? Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

skybytch, a great idea for a great cause! I think the whuffos'd probably give more $ for the stop sign- jumpers, the boobs... too bad you can't afford/try both! Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

"Do you know of an example of that actually happening?" No Geoff, I do not- I can only hope that the logic/knowlege that my slow-opening canopy is useless in low situations would move my hands to the silver if I was caught low...

Empathy, Emmie! I, too, got stuck at level IV with an uncontrollable (left) turn-- tried 7 times to pass-- got very discouraged and was sarcastically encouraged to take up bowling by my AFF JMs, whom I had previously admired for their freefall skills- I was at the point of giving up on my dreams of flying my body when the kindhearted DZO at Ellijay suggested tunnel time-- I hit the tunnel. At this time, there was only the Pigeon Forge windtunnel open. Took a 10-flight package; the instructors were supportive and skillful. Took 8 of those flights to learn how to stay on a heading. When I returned to the DZ, I asked for different JMs and tried again- flew for the first time by myself!!!; breezed thru the rest of the program, without another repeat and skipping level 7 altogether. If you absolutely want to skydive and you are at the end of yer rope, I'd highly recommend tunnel training, especially if your body is not symmetrical- and possibly changing JMs, too- Brokeneagle. Hey, mre! I have an exit weight of about 155; after jumping a Fury 220 from studenthood, I finally bought a ZP- I jump a Spectre 190-- find it quite zippy compared to the F-111... quick toggle response with much lighter input- I can finally spiral out from under!... good flare power.....'course, I only got 7 jumps on it before I misjudged a landing and broke my "good" leg...
