Hey, Mouth!- glad yer ok; I was thinking about you and the other Thomaston chillens just the other day- glad family illnesses are getting better- please give my regards to the rest...ALWAYS be selective on yer reading material- this is something you can easily control

So, how much's the three-ring, Pammi? For those that don't know, I have four of Pammi's necklaces so far- my older daughter wears one, but the rest are MINE! Does anyone know if a Paypal type setup is available besides in the states? Some folk may want an option to the looong snail mail times for payment options... Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

If I didn't fixate on correcting the problem the whole way in (which I think is the likely scenario),I'd think of family and friends, the beauty of the earth from above, and how lucky I've been to see the world in this way, and know that it was all worth it... Welcome, krispy! Empathy on your hard lesson!! Don't give up your dreams of the air, you can still do what you want, no matter WHAT yer well-meaning whuffo family, "friends", or Dr.'s secretary says-- physical obstacles, whether temporary or permanent, as well as flare impairment on new canopies CAN be overcome! I will be following yer limpin' footsteps in a month when I get my 3rd cast on my newest broken leg, caused by the very same type of misjudgement- I wear a leg brace on the other one full time- shattered it in sixteen places coming up on five years ago on March 15th, which was coincidentally National Skydiving Safety Day that year-- Believe in yourself AND yer dreams, and be firm with any dissenting whuffos. I, too, count the days until I can fly again!... I will be as smart as you, study as much as possible canopy flight, practice and use visualization techniques, and as soon as I am mobile again, observe as many landings as I can, and I will continue to ask questions of my fellow jumpers. I did not plan on this "free time" (unemployment) either, but I WILL use it to improve my understanding and enjoyment of this sport I so love.... Good luck! Blue Skies, and Soft Landings always!

VERY cool; great photo!! Congrats!! May all your jumps be as good for you as this one was-

So, tell me, if you go traveling again, are you going to handcuff yerself to the bed?

I don't like to be rushed to jump-- I always observe the load(s) coming in after I arrive at the DZ-- If the other canopies look like they're bouncing around, other jumpers are having difficulty with their approaches/landings, or there are frequent directional shifts of the windline I'd stay on the ground- steady winds are ok up to 20-25; I load my canopy lightly, so I don't go up in much more than that- I've seen folk do the backwards approach- and I don't want to....

Ah, rgoper-- what an pitiful asshole- I've noticed he seems to have several disabilities working at the same time here- sociopathic, spelling impaired, perhaps dyslexic as well as temper-impaired... yes, I think weiner is a fair tag for this 'klown' blowing his horn... Nathan, don't give up, man-- there ARE "nice" females out there that WANT a "nice" guy. Don't be in too much of a rush to tie yourself down to anyone; enjoy your life as you go...

I agree with the 'mississippi' trick on the count, it will help with seperation, but I've never heard of the leg signal bit either; when we were taught, it was not to try to signal other jumpers, but to turn away from canopies on collision courses, keep your head on a swivel all the way in, low man has right of way, etc. Bottom line: Be aware at all times of where other canopies are... oh, yes, and PAY YOUR BEER! Don't let this person add confusion to the list- Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

ALF? Is that a cousin disease of the Skygod Syndrome, or a derivative of the ever-popular PLF? (since I haven't found the joys of .rec skydiving, I guess I'm just out of the loop!) Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

I have a Firelite 175 as my reserve; bought it new 5 1/2 years ago; haven't had to test-drive it yet. The reason I bought one is that when I put this rig together, I wanted a new reserve, not a used one, and the Firelite was one of the few affordable and dependable reserves available per a rigger friend of mine... I have had a problem only with Flight Concepts' owner; I paid cash for mine up front- I was going on my first jumping road trip, and made certain to let the owner know I needed it for this very purpose- but not only was it NOT ready at the promised delivery time, but two weeks later, the owner finally admitted putting my canopy order behind those of teams he was supplying nationally and overseas. I requested a loaner rig to take on my cross-country trip- he finally and bad-temperedly gave me one, but the hassle when I returned to pick up my pre-paid for canopy a week later was amazing-- I won't buy from him again. As for the Firelite, my adopted sister has one for her reserve as well, and has ridden it down- she has had no problems with it; reported it flew well, for all that it is F-111 material. Brokeneagle. 19's a fine age to take up skydiving; lots of young jumpers out there-- besides, the total range of age of the sport jumpers is one of the attractions in the sport. Heck, my first static-line jumpmaster was in his late 50s when I went thru the course... 'course, that was 8 years ago. Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

Ohhh, hey, Pammi!! WOW!!! That's a TERRIFIC design!! Do-jeh, xie xie (Thank you, Cantonese and Mandarin))!!!!! Woman, that is MARVELOUS!!!-- even better than I had pictured! Excellent work!! Thank you so much for letting me see it, too!! You're terrific, woman!! Hugs to yourself and Merrick and the rest of your family-- and thanks for the injury empathy- it sure hurts like hell right now, but I don't need to tell YOU that, poor Merrick- ah, well- could've been worse- could've broken BOTH legs.... aiyahhhhhhhh, contact me with info, and Paypal'll be our go-between... thanks you so much, Pammi- that's the best necklace yet!!! I especially like the fact that even whuffos comment on them and ask about them....take good care-- blue skies and soft landings always..... Faye. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

I can speak for her work, as well- I have several, all different and all quite nice work- Pammi's workmanship is excellent, her designs are clever and she stands behind her work, too- she just repaired one of mine AND returned it to me, within one week... hey, Pammi, if yer reading this, go ahead and start my patriotic one, ma'am-- even if I can't jump for a while, may as well still show th' colors, right, y'all?

chopchop- so sorry, my friend! Definite empathy- glad you got a walking cast so quickly! Sounds like you've got a good doc, that always helps! Take your time getting back in the sport, let your bones be ready, especially if you love it the way I do and you want to skydive a LONG time, not a little. I will be joining you in the air as soon as I can, too! Till then, heal well and quickly, blue skies and soft landings always-- Brokeneagle. P.S. Thank you very much for the well-wishes on the thread Dutch did on my misjudged landing! You're a good man(but I knew that)! I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
