  1. Hey, thanks, guys... you know you are all my heroes, as well!! Thanks, Dutch, for being so nice to me for my misjudged landing- I do have to say I never expected you would tell the rest of the family, tho- as of right now, my left leg's fibia has a fairly clean break just above the ankle, the tibia is broken in the back behind the ankle, and I've torn the ligament on the left as well. I've been told I'm out of the sport for 4 months minimum, possibly more. I have a temporary electric blue cast, in two weeks they'll xray it again, hopefully it won't have shifted and I won't have to have the surgery I've been threatened with.
  2. what, that she's a f*(*U(&ING father? Come, now, freeflier29, now that's going just a touch too far; I'm sure he doesn't think Pammi's a bad dad... Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  3. I have to agree with FallnAngel- I tried on several full-face helmets, but the Z-1 is the ONLY one that would allow my glasses to fit under the lens- and even tho they fit snugly, they are not uncomfortable. Try on as many different manufacturer's as you can, you may find a different one you like best. You're probably not as old as me, but, in twenty years or if and when you get bifocals, be aware that they also can give problems when landing. Yet another reason to look out, not down when flaring, LOL! Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  4. My teacher's dog deliberately sits on people's legs while they're working out, or takes possession of the student's mats as they are setting up for kip-ups, handsprings, throws, or locking/sparring drills-- if they're lying on the floor stretching, he'll lift his leg and straddle them- when the teacher moves in to interfere, the dog joyfully runs to the next nearest student to tease until he's either tired out, or tied up. 5. Hey, jumpervali- I'll have to see that! You in a wet suit under a jumpsuit-- jest can't picture it, somehow- Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  6. Hey, PLFKing-- What do you have against Georgians? 'S not like we're from Alabama, or something. Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  7. Carry your Cypres card with you just in case- don't volunteer information unless you have to. Galyans, Target, Walmart or Sports Authority all should have backpacks or carry-ons to fit yer rig. Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  8. Here's another tame one for ya, 3fLiEr- 1. 2500 2. 2000 3. almost wasted too much time trying to find throw-out pilot chute on a demo rig. 4. on spot/clear and pull jump to get off student status, main handle got caught on closed seat-belt, deployed inside plane as I was climbing out, fast-thinking friend threw whole thing out as I balanced on the strut- jerked me off the wing instead of thru the side of the plane at 10,000 feet. 5. seeing the joy in a friend's face the first time they experience freefall, or being part of the joy that envelopes us all that IS freefall... 6. couple of times- medical reasons, tho- slipped disk in back, broken leg and ankle, junk like that. 7. almost a full year- reconstructive leg surgery (two times) 8. see #6 9. grounding's shit no matter what the reason, once you are a skydiver, the ground is never enough... Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  9. Empathy, leetle frog- sorry you're hurt, my friend- being quite familiar with casts, etc. on legs and the maddening itching when the hair you so carfully shaved off starts growing back in, I can highly recommend to you the flat plastic flexicuffs most police officers carry, or as equally effective at slipping between wrappings/casts and your itchy leg, and slightly textured so that they can scratch that itch easily, are the hard plastic flexible fasteners, that thread through one end; if you HAVE to, you can use a coat hangar, but I don't recommend it- too easy to further damage any open areas. The biggest advantage are in the flexicuffs- they come in lengths long enough to go from the top of a leg cast all the way to your instep. Brokeneagle. 10. Yep, sounds like it was a rough weekend for several GA DZs-- Thomaston had it's Super Otter go out of commision, and Rome's 206 isn't due in till next weekend... so, my question is: will the two boogies affected be re-scheduled? Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  11. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends; and to the DZ involved-- it is so tragic to lose even one of us; two of us in one day goes way beyond that- Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  12. Post a pic of th' finished design-- let us see it; if it looks as good as I think it will, I'll get one. Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  13. whale thang? What's that, yer boyfriend's whatchamadiggie? Hey, Dutch-- sounds like pyke's organinzin' with Rog....
  14. In the public records room at the Gwinnett County Courthouse. A person walked in from the street and told us about the first hit. Rumors started circulating about whether the plane'd had a takeoff problem. Another deed dog who is a pilot and I joked about suicidal ex-postal-service pilots (he knew one, and suspected him of being that particular pilot) The clerks let us bring out a radio so we could hear the news and help us stay calm. Then the 2nd hit happened, and then the report about the Pentagon strike as well. People started saying we were under attack- no one could get thru to family/friends...... those of us who could, tried to finish our work, most left. I finished my work and drove home the long back roads way, the expressway was a gridlock due to the volume of people, all dazed with horror and disbelief. I stopped at my older daughter's home, and sat in her driveway and wrote a loving letter to her, my son-in-law, and my grandchildren, in case I would not get the chance to see them again. I have cried so much these long days since the attack, I would think I could never cry again. But each time I am exposed to the videos of people leaping from the towers, or see the faces of those still looking for survivors, the unthinkable storeys-tall pile of rubble that blankets New York's Manhattan streets, and the haunted faces that surround me even here, the tears flow like a rain that will never cease. I am super-saturated with exposure to the grim horrors of reality, but cannot close my eyes to it at all. I have nightmares, but they are feeble; we are all caught up in this one. Brokeneagle. 15. Interesting. Disturbingly interesting. How far do YOU think we'll go on retaliation? Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  16. yup, a few years ago at the airport in Salt Lake City. It was an insane ex-boss. The odd activity caused a small group of interested people to gather and ask questions, but, very luckily, no problems or officials came by. I also read about another person doing something similar in an article in Parachutist, was it last year? can't remember exactly what happened to this one, but I think this person ended up being detained by the local po-lice. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  17. Before all this, I would wear my rig in a backback and stow it as hand-luggage. I carry a Cypres card and have never had any trouble doing this; 'course, I never took it out of the backpack ON the plane, or packed it in the concourse like SOME folks have........
  18. Skydive Atlanta, Thomaston, GA, and Atlanta Air Sportz in Rome, GA, occasionally less local spots such as Deland and Emerald Coast..... Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

?? bruises??! I thought they were just shadows--and besides, how many of you young whippersnappers would have respect for a crippled old grandma unless she bruised, er,ahhhh, left a light mark or two to show where she'd been? I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

skyhawk, you've explained it well enough-- it was an honest mistake on several sides-- don't leave yet; some of us are more frayed than others, also some of us ARE friendly- 'course, some of us are not!
  21. ... and then, the icy winds howling inside the small plane, I leaned out to check the spot; suddenly I heard biguns shriek,'Jump THIS, you little turdball!' and she-it planted her size 12 foot in my rear. As I tumbled out of the door into the frozen blue skies, I thought to myself, 'damn, I always thought that foot/penis size reference rumor was a crock.'..... 22. that's the link-- the graphics leave a lot to be desired, but it IS fun- also, the pool game and snow-boarding stuff is amusing on a rainy day....
  23. I used to wear over-the-glasses goggles over me specs--still do when I want my face to be seen for a specialty jump photo op or something like that. I also have a Z-1 fullface helmet that I wear my glasses under. I've never had much of a fogging problem with either, in winter the fullface is GREAT-- in summer the wind feels wonderful, but you have to make sure your goggles are tight enough to stay on in freefall-- 's tough as hell to catch goggles or glasses that fly off yer face! Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  24. A couple of years ago when I hung out in base circles, they were getting into jumping construction cranes at 100', pilot chute assist. I've never done anything below 464'. Base jumping is scarier than regular skydiving, by far. Many more variables, much less time to deal with them... Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  25. I want to add a question to this: Dutch and I and several others at our DZ fly Dolphins, which are a hybrid-type Javelin- is the bridle less exposed in a Dolphin? (I am just beginning to sit-fly, and have never seen that many freeflyers/sitflyers in the air, nor examined a Javelin for Dolphin similarities) Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
