  1. "if you're that low you probably should be going for the reserve anyway" Nothing in life is foolproof- even a Cypres...I agree muscle memory is ingrained in training, but if you're flying a canopy type that consistantly takes 1000 or so ft to open (like a Spectre), and you notice you're at or below 1000 ft, I would think you would get that reserve out without even considering your main; on any type of low-pull situation, for a snivel-prone/slow opening main, reserve is the only option, unless you want to end up in the hospital or obituaries. Just my .02... Brokeneagle. Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  2. "hey y'all watch this..." ah yes, but don't forget the other redneck's reply: "Huh, huh! Hey, Ah kin do thayat!"
  3. "Carb Heat On...Carb Heat On...Carb Heat On..."-Phil Polstra
  4. Welcome, magicmx5! --and agreed with AggieDave on the description of the gang here-- pretty varied, with a lot of good information/experiences to share-- one thing I'll add to it, is that crash formations/Power Docks are also known as "Combat RW", and are fairly popular among some groups of us, just for the fun of it-- ahhh, have you been fruit-looped yet?
  5. "you ppl if i can call u that" Yeh, those danged skydivers will post crap about planes and stuff- "thanx for ruining my thread guys :-( :-( " well, it WAS unintentional, don't make me like it "i on the other hand never post anything not related to the fourem topic EVER hmmmppfff have some desencsy :-) " I heartily extend my apologies to Sangiro for 'ruining skyhawk's nice congrats'. And I add my own congrats to Sangiro, as well- this site is great- it's informative on so many parts of our sport, and gives most of us a chance to exchange ideas/friendships/ or just broaden our horizons - I know it will surpass even your expectations! Thanks, Sangiro- you're doing a great job! hawk, some of us DO have some 'desencsy', even if it is misspelled. Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  6. "talk about thread drift" Yeah, just look at it- we sure unintentionally hijacked this one! "Even when I can't make it in, I still practice my forms at home." Hmp. Lucky bastid- I haven't practiced, can't understand why... Damn, I was almost done with Jit Kuen, too- and I HAVE (temporarily) forgotten Lin Kuen, and the partner form- "John is an awesome person." Yes he is! He's called me several times a week to talk and check up on me; offers every week to scoop me up and take me to the DZ- he should be getting his 100th Sat- he's four jumps away--
  7. "p.s. I ran into Sonc tonight at the school" You went to the school? Darn, wish I could've- how's Sifu and the other students? Forgotten Lin Kuen yet?
  8. "You don't have to beg.....You'll have to come out the next time we fly to Rome for a little jumping." Cool! Thanks, I'd LOVE to come out and play/fly a bit- let me know what day you two will be there for sure, and I'll hitch a ride with John-- Sure, I'll trust ya in the air, Clay- besides, I don't talk nearly as much in the air as on the ground, eh, Dutch? I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  9. Mountainman, I've jumped Emerald Coast and enjoyed it well- it was a beautiful DZ, nice grounds, very friendly people, a well-kept landing area and it seemed to be a well-run operation; nice Otter-- but that was before Rich sold the place-- I heard rumors that it closed its doors- can anyone confirm? Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  10. I'm too proud to beg, so I'll pass on Clay's next flight even tho I love to fly more than anything else BUT skydive
  11. LOL!!!! Ooooohhhhh, now THAT is funny! Treetop (lordofthesky) is the captain/demo member for a local PRO-rated skydiving team- he isn't usually caught off base like this- Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  12. I wanna watch freeflir29's next lesson- preferably inside the plane as well, but since it's hard to fold a crip with a cast on one leg and a leg brace on the other in a small plane, shall I bring the camcorder, Dutch?
  13. Sorry to hear it- Injuries are never fun-- Empathy- hope Pyke recovers quickly. Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  14. No problems with any of the above referenced hypothetical questions- if they're insecure OR a whuffo about enjoying skydiving fun, they don't belong to me!
  15. Jeez- HATE those close calls- may have been the jump plane??! Where were y'all flying? Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  16. oops- I meant The Dutchboy- gave him more credit than his name... Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...

  18. cool changes, boss man- may we never stop expanding our knowlege!... Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  19. chickenhawk420- talk to The Dutchman; he speaks Mandarin-
  20. Sorry, Thaddues- negative on the DZ info out there- all Dutch and I could find out when we were all in China is that parachuting is called "tiusan"- , but we were only there 2 weeks-- I know they do it there somewhere; saw a stadium demo on one of the television stations- think it was in Shanghai-- and I know I'm not spelling that Mandarin word right
  21. LOL!! JT, yer absolutely right-- , I'm no mohel, but this SHOULD end fairly painlessly, unlike the real thang-- pssst- hey, Slappie....the real definition of schmuck is dick, aka one-eye bass, penis, 'male unit' or any other fond nickname you have for that part of your body.... Now you know. Brokeneagle. I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  22. ohh, slaaappie.....(musical voice) wanna know the REAL definition of schmuck? I think jtval has the idea..... I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  23. Thanks for the heads-up, PhreeZone! That one's got a variant that came my way- I'm really very gentle, no matter what my kung-fu teacher says...
  24. BTW, jtval, it's spelled "schmuck". That's the biggest one of those there is. The next size smaller is "schmecke", etc. "pitsilla" is the smallest measurement of that type I know of... and I'd give THAT measurement to the guy in Vegas that doesn't allow fun jumpers- save schmuck for someone worthy of it...
