  1. Thanks, Dutch- can't wait to see the tape- I was disappointed- I couldn't hear the wushu cane "swoosh" when I whipped it around like the heavy practice cane- Yes, Mott got up about 6:30 p.m.- he was so funny, he actually got nervous enough so that his hands were sweaty; relaxed as he talked to the guys about cage fighting... Ferg took still photos for him on the ground; I took the camcorder out to the landing field- if you feel up to coming out to the school tonite, you'll see them.
  2. Yer OTHER baby, Dutch. Guess you'll have to pick and choose- you got a lot of chillens...
  3. Aiyahhhhh, well, we'll be thinkin' 'bout ya at the DZ( and probably plotting against you for the delayed happening); I don't believe my Spectre will be in by tomorrow, too bad- even got a blackberry pilot chute for it- mebbe in time fer th' boogie-- be weird looking up and not seeing that big black stealth canopy!
  4. C.D. won't do it-- Speakin' of weebles, how's the combat CRW team doin'? You don't have to answer here- tell 'em I said "hey"-- Mott's supposed to start AFF this Sun. Thanks for the pix; didn't realize they were taken- very cool
  5. Sure, I think he'll give it a go-- look up after we exit, I'll be the one tumbling enthusiastically way up above you, admiring your sit periodically as I front, back, or fruit-loop trying to get my feet under me... at least I can laugh all the way down... Much fun, blue skies!!!!
  6. DZ politics- Pyke, get over it- it was just an invitation- sounds like you needed to rant- glad you got it out, but loosen up now-- we all have opinions; we're also capable of ignoring crap that pisses us off if we want to. Skydiving's for fun, not one-upmanship. Relax, guys, it doesn't REALLY matter where we jump, just that we have fun doing it! 'Why can't we just get along??!'
  7. Rich's got good rental gear, if the rumor I heard about Emerald Coast shutting down's not true, and they're a great DZ- friendly jumpers, fun aircraft-- and th' beach is a beautiful place to jump.... soft white sugar sand, beer, ocean, beer, bathing-suited folk to ogle, beer..... go enjoy, cyber, 'specially if you haven't been before!
  8. Hokay, Dutch- what days will you be @ Thomaston the Monroe SpringFest week?
  9. thaaat's right. Just stay naive for a few more hours..... 'and another one bites the dust'....
  10. Dutchboy-- should'a hired me when ya could've..... I can see it now..... combat RW! yes, we have no bananas.... but cream pie is coming yer way!
  11. Thanks, guys- feedback and research are showing MANY complaints about the Sabre I was not aware of- some folk are claiming only the slider needs to be modified to even out the openings, but with so many people telling horror stories of whack openings, mebbe I'll just in-ves-tee-gate this thang further before I plunk down my money- still need to downsize, that Fury's too big for my Dolphin D-2-- have heard many good reports on the Spectre... Blue Skies!!
  12. Thanks for the reply, Doc! I weigh 142- exit weight approx. 162-- been under the Fury 220 for over 60 jumps--before that, rode DZ rentals or O.P.s, all F-111's, all 200 ft or bigger... I wear a leg brace full time,(hence the nickname)and am nervous about the big change, but have been told that the downsizing will improve my landings; just not getting enough lift or drive wing-loading the Fury so lightly.
  13. I am downsizing and changing over from a Fury 220 to a Sabre 170- have never flown a ZP before- what will be the differences of the landing characteristics/ flare-abilities of the two? I'm a conservative-to-timid flyer and have been told the Sabre is a stable canopy that holds pressurization well. I'm sure I'll have to change flare technique to adjust to the flatter glide of the ZP, but that's all I'm sure of.
  14. Aaowooo, C'mon, Dutchboy, let's have fun!! You said banana's the flavor you want on yer pie, right? Brokeneagle.
  15. Emerald Coast is excellent- definitely check it out! I've jumped there on several occasions- the DZ is spacious and well set-up, large landing area, lots of outs- the DZO and staff friendly and helpful- jumpers there seem to be a good mix of types of flyers. Pensacola's terrific, too- lived there for a year, m'self--Enjoy the beautiful white sugar sand beaches, and the awesome skydives! Blue Skies! Brokeneagle.
  16. I had a baglock on my 26th jump off student status-it lasted almost 5 seconds- I noticed there was no familiar "tug" at my shoulders when I threw out my BOC-I half-turned to make sure the pilot chute wasn't caught in a burble, thumped the container twice hard with my elbow and as I was grasping my handles to peel 'em, it opened out into the most beautiful canopy I'd thought I'd never see!
  17. The Mile-Hi Club mostly for commercial airline lavs??...why, when there are plenty of rental fun planes out there? (For those who fly more than just at the DZ of choice, or TO the DZ of choice)
  18. Hey, Jacko, there's not a thing wrong with being a sober skydiver! You're not alone out there, either. Some people are single parents that have their children with them. Some are people whose bodies can't tolerate alcohol, or its' effects. Doesn't matter. You're here to have a great time with your friends/preferred families- nobody should care what you drink, only that you're there to share the good times with them.... YOU'RE the only one you have to please... Blue Skies!
  19. I agree- self-employment is the one sure way to never get a refund again-
  20. yes, I suspect these are mimeographed reviews, in case anybody wanted to speak NOT in their own words. Man, dishonesty and con-man games sure don't give us good advertising in any sense of the word. Nor is this the way we as jumpers want to be seen as- Somehow, I doubt this DZO'll ever learn.
  21. Anyone who doesn't know the real facts... the people unlucky enough to live in those states that don't know the truth!
  22. I agree with Dutchboy-this problem seemed to begin with a DZO posting a review of his own place while pretending to be a student there-coincidentally,this same DZ is listed in three states, using three different aliases as if it were three different DZs,all with varying rates. It is unfortunate that some people show few morals in our mostly close-knit,caring community. I also agree that positive DZ experiences should be shared-but I believe unscrupulous or unsafe DZs should be reported on as well...the informed jumper is the winner here...
  23. This is a great DZ out on a nice county(Thomaston-Upson) airport-it has a good large landing area with LOTS of outs, not too crammed in with wires or trees,a wonderful mix of friendly, talented people who'd jump at the chance to do a fun skydive with you or challenge you with a more complicated aerial set;a well-run manifest,a professional, experienced staff, excellent camera people, load organizing for those who want to attain freeflying or RW skills,a big Twin Otter with bench seats-lots of fun to jump out of-it's also kid and pet-friendly;they have a huge trampoline on site and plenty of room for the kids to run around and play-the family atmosphere is welcome and refreshing!I have been to most of the dropzones in the state and have found Skydive Atlanta to be the best one around.
