HMA lines- history of snapping without warning?
Rdutch replied to dbattman's topic in Gear and Rigging
Good idea you should patent it. Not that I have seen yet. But after looking around today a lot of sailing companies are putting a protective coating on Vectran lines, good enough to use them on salt water sailing boat's. Maybe the parachute industry should look into this a little, I also read that some companies use a wax to make the line last longer, and this has to be reaplied. Anyone hear of this, sounds like another option, my last set ov Vectran lines dried out real good and this caused extra wear on the areas that saw extra friction. Anyone have any thought's on this? Even better Uncle Sam is paying for it. Not only paying for it, he is giving me a paycheck every week to attend school. So its well worth it. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Active Directory Services Cet 2994. You have any experience with it? Dumb question. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Going crazy going over and over hundreds of questions like this....... The DNS service includes a dynamic update capability called DDNS (Dynamic DNS). With DNS, when there are changes to the domain for which a name server has authority, you must manually update the zone database file on the primary name server. With DDNS, name servers and clients within a network automatically update the zone database files. However, in this scenario, the client (or its DHCP server) does not support the use of the DNS dynamic update protocol. Which of the following troubleshooting solutions would you use to correct the problem? 1. Using the DNS console, perform the following task: on the SOA tab, increase the value of the serial number for the zone at the master server (source) to a number greater than the value at the applicable secondary server (destination). 2.Look in the DNS server event log for error messages. 3.Review how zone delegations are used, and revise your zone configuration as needed. 4.Install or upgrade client computers to Microsoft Windows 2000 or install and use a Windows 2000 DHCP server on your network to lease client computers. Good thing I have lots more to learn just the same. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

paid pack job chop, lost main
Rdutch replied to bodypilot90's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you couldn't find the main how do you know it was a packer induced Mal? Please explain. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -
There is a lot of posts from people asking "What size canopy is too small for me" and similar question's. Here is my Opinion but it does have some background to it, as I also downsized rapidly and payed dearly for it with this permanent limp and knee problems I have. The best person you can ask if your downsizing too fast is yourself. If you have to ask someone else, then you dont need to be downsizing. Any doubts you have about your ability and knowledge, are there, because your subconscious is telling you something. Im not doubting that most of you cant get good landing's under your canopy, but things change a lot and nothing helps you out in a pinch more than experience. Ok here is another option if my first one isnt good enough. The best person to listen to about if you should downsize is your peer's. I dont mean your close friend's at the dz, I mean the people you respect and look up to (Might also be a friend) the people with experience. I know I have learned a lot in the 5 years I have been jumping and have changed my way of thinking 100% just based on what I have seen and done. Most of the time when I hear people say "He is downsizing too fast and is too hungry, he's going to hurt himself" This ends up true. I was one of them. but after my accident I had a new respect for the ground and took my time and learned very slowly, what I already knew how to do perfectly when I biffed in. Just saying if the people around you are saying something its not to hold you back, or make you feel stupid, its probably because they are tired of watching people hurt themselves under perfectly good canopies, and want you to be safe. I wish I had taken a year or two to learn how to swoop right rather than spend the next two years regretting I hadn't. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

HMA lines- history of snapping without warning?
Rdutch replied to dbattman's topic in Gear and Rigging
I know that PD uses thicker vectran lines on the control set. I asume this is an industry standard. A lower control line set made out of vectran cost only $20 and takes about 5 minutes to install. All the vectran lines I have seen that were worn out, were very noticably worn out, but not bad enough looking as a spectra line set with as much wear. So you can see that vectran hides its wear a lot better than spectra lines. But you could easily see they had a lot of use. No one should take chances with a worn line set, it is too easy to replace. Question about Far's and intentional cutaway's?
Rdutch replied to Rdutch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You can clearly see in the video, that the reserve risers were attatched to the container permanently in the video, unless they designed a new internal non 3 ring release system. But after watching the video about 4 times and my friend (A master rigger with about 50 intentional cutaway's of his own) and I both came to the conclusion that it wasn't possible for there to be another reserve on the jumper. There was actually another conversation about it later that I overheard from other people. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -
Question about Far's and intentional cutaway's?
Rdutch replied to Rdutch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
At the Pia yesterday, there was an awesome video from one of the Canopy manufacturers doing intentional cutaways. There was a really good shot of a gostplane performed with the upper skydiver's doing a MR. Bill and the camera man slid over the top of the lower canopy then as he fell off head down, the lower skydiver cut away and they flew for a few seconds together until the reserve was deployed. Ok but here is the question? I couldn't help notice that all of the cutaway's were performed with a regular sport rig, and not an intentional cutaway rig with 3 canopies. Isnt an intentional cutaway not allowed based on the far's without a backup chute? It was killer video but not very responsible if you ask me. Just curious. Pia gets a good review as far as Im concerned. The only thing I didn't like was the messed up hours. They were open at different hours every day, and the web site is down so you didn't know what they were, so basically you took a chance, they were open 3:30-8:00 one day and 12:00 to 3:30 then 6:30 to 8:00 the next. They would close the exibition hall for the seminar's but at $95 a day to attend the seminars, most people weren't interested, unless your company paid your way in. OK here is some of the cool stuff I saw. Canopies: well I saw a bunch of canopies, all shapes and sizes, there was a 21sq ft xaos, and a 33 sq ft cobalt. I give the Precision guys the vote for the best display area, Icarus came next, they had a cool prototype canopy that they claim gets 99% on heading opening's. Pd had the most bland stand nothing really there to see. I saw the Atair Onyx first hand and I must agree im curious about wanting to jump it, I dont like the idea of using spectra lines on a canopy of that type, but it still look's like fun. But in an exibition all the canopies looked to most people like a bunch of fabric. Oh yeah I almost forgot, Airodyne's new stuff actually looked pretty good. The canopies arent anything I would want to jump, more aimed at the crossfire, stilletto crowd's. But their new container was pretty sharp, and they had a promising new reserve, but I did notice they were using the same tape that Precision had on their recalled Reserves, and with a single bartack, Dont know why they did this but I would like to know. Ok Rigs: Of course Im going to start with Relative workshop, (favoritism) But they have a new reserve deployment system that takes it all one step further, I have seen the test jumps first hand and Damn that thing gets it open fast. Its called a sky hook, and it is based on the BASE reserve system used on the sorcerer, but its different. They are getting reserves open in about 150 ft and in 1.8 seconds. Im sure that they will put the details in their web site. Jump Shack caught my eye with their new container, it is completely velcro free, and looked to be very freefly friendly, and comfortable as hell. Most of the manufacturer's had more military stuff to offer than sport, so most of what was there already is in the market. Javelin did have a good idea, it is a ground launch harness/container for blade running. Oh yeah and you have to give wing's props for the hotties they had walking around giving stuff out. The coolest thing I saw came from Alti2, (Makers of the altimaster3), It is a new digital, waterproof altimiter/dytter. You can use is as an altimiter or put it in your helmet as a dytter. It has all the options of the pro trac, but also has a canopy decent rate top and bottom. It has a temp guage, and a climb rate and time to altitude. Best of all asking price is $240. For all the pond swoopers this should be a big item, waterproof altimiter, with a speed guage/log for canopy, oh yeah! And its accurate to around 3 ft, that is pretty good. Well this sums up about 25% of what I saw, but I would be here all day, Im glad I went and am excited about what skydiving has to offer in the future. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Next time your in Deland, ask me and I will show you where his shop is. His helmet's start at around $1250 and can get up to $1600. That is a lot of money for a beginner cameraman. But if you still want one, I will show you where he is. They are real nice helmet's, that is what Rickster Powell jumps, but a lot of money. Dont think he has a web site his business is based out of his garage, but you can try a google search. Oh yeah, he also sell's a computer disk with a step by step with video, on building your own helmet. You can get that at Tso'd in Deland. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

If it is perfectly legal why cant you name the site, this makes no sence. So If I was going to bridge day and wanted to invite other dz.comers to come say hi, I would have to say Im going somewhere in america to jump if you happen to see me say hi but I cant tell you where. I know this isnt your rule but its still a silly rule. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Weird, I looked at a bunch of stilletto's and Velocity's and they all have larkshead's. Still wondering why this is done though. After talking with someone that know's a lot about canopies, I was told that with the dacron lines base canopies use it really isnt a problem, but if spectra is used it will actually cut through the tape in time. Anyone know the reasoning for using a loop instead of a larkshead? We now know that it will work fine, but if the larkshead is stronger why not use it? Just curious. Wing types and Suits themselves, all perform in a wide range of way's. I started out with a FlipFlop freefly suit (Flip Flop is a wing that you can fly on your back and on your belly). This was good for beginner 4way video and tandem's, but doesnt give you optimal range on your belly or your back. When I started shooting a lot of 4way video I changed over to the Pro-Comp suit from Merlin. The difference was incredible, with booties your drive is a lot better, which helps a lot shooting 4way, and with the Humongous wing you can ride the hell out of a burble, I dont know how I shot 4way without it. But for Tandems I like to fly on my back a little and the Pro-comp is a little less comfortable with the booties, so I use my flip flop suit. The only problem with the flip flop is if the tandem master and passenger are small its almost impossible to stay with them on my back, so here is where a sit fly camera suit comes into play. It is designed to provide maximum lift on your back. So proper planning helps a lot in deciding what suit/wing you buy. But for a beginner cameraman you cant go wrong with a flip flop suit. When you bought your camera, didnt you fill out the registration, and warranty information form. I think using someone else's reciept probably wont work, sony is pretty hard to get them fix stuff they are supposed to, let alone stuff that they arent. There is a few other places out there that fix camera's I used the one in seattle, do a google search, Im not at home and dont have my reciept for the name. One reason why sony charges one rate, is they replace a lot more than what was wrong. They also put new wear and tear item's and clean your connections and replace the ones that get wear on them. I would reccomend going the sony way, but if cost is a problem, then look around you can find someone that will fix just your problem, and maybe cheaper. As an example $275 is a lot to spend on a camera that ate a tape. Good luck. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

The company that makes Pro-trac is supposedly about to release a plug in speaker that you can put anywhere in your helmet you like. Options are one on both sides, or two right next to each other. Im going to the PIA today I'll let you know. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

I know the Vector sport reserve pilot chute and the tandem reserve pc, are the same. Oh yeah they also use it as a main pc for spring loaded student rig's. Mirage and Relative both use the same spring, its somewhere around 44 lbs of force. This much is needed, as their is a few flaps they have to open. Pop top rig's such as the racer have a much weaker pc and some riggers prefer this, but it works just as well, as there isnt any extra force needed to launch it. Spring is only a small part of the effectiveness of a pilot chute. A lot more goes into it. Most pilot chutes have around 100 lbs of pull force, some less some more. But they are all tso'd so they all work. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

That's too bad you cant leave the ground, I helped my nephew do a project where we tested the effects of insects and altitude. I got the idea when a love bug was in the plane and died or went to sleep around 10,000ft. So we put a bunch of different bugs in jars and climbed to 15'000ft Cockroaches and houseflies were the only ones that it didnt effect. But I recorded him in the plane and the bugs and he won 1st place for his class. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
