I just looked at a new FLIK being packed, I noticed that the brake lines are just looped through the attatchment, and not larks headed, like the other lines. Im no rigger but I understand that the larks head provides a much stronger attatchment than just looping it. And the control lines do take a strain on opening. So I was wondering why they do it this way? Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Ok I keep getting these E-mails from online Pharmacy's. Would anyone (not that I am considering it) purchase Painkiller's from a mail order company? Specially without a prescription. You would expect the Police to bring it to you for sure, or the pharmacy would just keep your money, cause you really couldn't report them. Just a Question. camera flying and x-braced canopies
Rdutch replied to jedeisurf's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I jump a Velocity 96 and a stilletto 107 for video. I much prefer the Velocity for long spot's. In full flight the velocity is a lot more ground hungry, but it will outlift the stilletto by far. They both open great. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -
***yes, they are more ground hungry than a vx, but i wouldn't say a hole lot more. about the same as fx, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less. and it dives more than the xaos 27. now, i only got about 50 jumps under the velocity, and like 35 under a xaso 27, and they are all of similar size. vx's-85, 72, 74, 79, and 109 fx's=78, 84, 89, and 115 velocity's=79 and 84 xaos 27=78 later One thing to take into account is that, manufacturers use a different method of calculating canopy size. So the size that a manufacturer puts on the label doesnt compare to the actual size. There should be an industry standard on this so the consumer isnt mislead be a number instead of actual size Picture a jumper with 100 jumps. He jumps a 9 cell canopy that is 170 square foot on the label, and is 170 square foot. Then he jumps a canopy that is 170 square foot on the label that is 162 square foot. Which one will he like better? Chances are no matter what performs better the 162 will turn a little faster and come down a little faster, which to a jumper with a 100 jumps makes all the difference. Anyone will like a smaler canopy better than the bigger one they jump. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Does icarus, precision offer demo's? I got a demo xaos, but it was hard, they didnt seem interested. I have seen Icarus tent's but that was just at boogie's. But I would love to jump a vx/fx if not for anything but to see what every icarus jumper talks so good about. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

what color is that?? later Sorry, that was an inside quote that Dave know's. Truth is there is no more team Frost, (for now) but their colors are Blue and Silver. Dave cheated, and know's my last rig, and its a duplicate (I think I told him about the new one) of the old. But a deal is a deal and I owe Dave a beer. Heck it will be worth a beer to get him back in Florida for a day or two to hang out. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Once again Jumping these canopys will let you see that the similarity goes a lot deeper than cell number's. Appearance. Heck the VX and the Velocity look a lot alike, but there is a lot of difference (The people that have jumped both will testify) both are good and both are different, so who is to say who is better? PD has the current distance record, but Icarus had it before. And who knows who will have it next. ***Don't get me wrong. I like PD products (only mains I"ve ever owen, currently have 2 of um) , but in the last several years they seem to have been playing more catch up than being the industry leader they used to be in the Sabre/Stiletto days. I hope Ian's company comes out with some new stuff to compete with PD. Could be very cool. Blue Track/ STiletto cross... yummy Oh yeah about the looking at the stars a 27 cell is coming out soon. PD. already owns the distance record beaten by a big margin from before. So why put out a canopy for no reason? Maybe if the 27cell Icarus was dominating the competition, then there would be a need for it. Maybe at this level canopy doesnt decide who wins or looses, maybe its pilot? hell, i'm anticipating a lot of new stuff coming out, not only from PD though and if PD is coming out with something new, it should be pretty interesting later I had a beer with John Le Blanc tonight and he said that this is the first year that PD didn't have anything to display. (civillian) But PD has never been open about new stuff so maybe they have something out there that is going to be a surprise. And you can guarantee that they have an idea or two on the "next" canopy. But we wont see for a few days. And maybe a few month's. But till then my velocity rocks so Im happy, plus I cant afford to spend a fortune on something new. They are pretty secrative at pd, here in Deland we dont see anything. Dave is right they only test jump at night out of black helicopters, with black canopies. But to tell you the truth I haven't seen anything. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Explaining what is good about your product is one thing. Verbally blasting is another. I have never heard anyone from relative say anything bad about another product to sell gear. But if you asked them what is so good about their stuff, they will explain the pro's of jumping a vector. That's all Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

While they are proud of their product (and deserve to be) I have never heard anyone from RWS talk bad about another product. Anytime I have asked anyone from there which is better they have only told me what makes theirs good. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

The Vector pilot chute is actually better than a mesh chute. The mesh pilot chute was used by Relative a long time ago, they since came up with a better design. With the mesh reserve chute it has to be facing up to work, and in a burble will bounce around while the Relative chute is designed to work in less winds and catches air facing any direction. While Relative Workshop wont say their equipment is better, im sure they can arrange for you to see the test jump video of a mesh pc verces the new design. 3.) Mirage offers hip rings. Vector does not.*** Not true at all, Relative has hip ring's. But this has been answered already. But how much flex in your chest do you need, chest rings are just an additional cost.Quote While the Mirage G4 is a great rig most of the reasons you chose not to buy a Vector are assumptions. both are perfectly safe rig's and some people have different tastes. Buy what you feel most comfortable, and visually appealing. I cant speak for mirage but Relative workshop has excellent customer service, if you really want to know what is so good about a vector you should send them an email or call them, (Mirage also). Do a search, this has been covered before. but PD doesnt like to do Vectran line sets on stilletto's. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

If you do get the plastic ones, make SURE you have them installed by someone that knows what they are doing. The metal ones have a cap on the end which keeps it from sliding down, (But still it is recomended that you have them installed by someone that knows how to also). The plastic ones installed the way Javelin does keeps them in place just fine, but if you just put them in you can risk the insert sliding into your loop and you wont be able to cut away. Make a circle with your fingers and put it out in front of you. Look through the circle at something with both eyes, now take turn's closing each eye, the side that what you are looking at stays in the same place is the dominant eye. I hope this help's. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Funny thing at National's. They put camera's on the Otter's but didnt tell anyone that we had to turn them on. Wish I had known I would have loved to see the footage. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

As with most companies Yeah like Precision that sold a ton of bad reserves, and then asked the owner's to pay for the repair. Good customer policy. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Finally tired of your pull up cord mounted dytter's on your helmet? Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Tendency to not put my head down enough is the main reason I like side mount. Also I dont like the way the top mount sometime's gets caught in my slider, and using slink's it somtimes comes all the way down and gets caught up. I even tore a tiny hole in my slider with the roll cage I was using. I was on Team FROST at National's. I was there to have fun, they were seeking an average, no chance of beating Majic or Airspeed or the Knights. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
