  1. not too bad...only took 3 cortisone onjections...2 months of PT and an IDET procedure and I'm finally back to work.
  2. Amen brother....I had a septoplasty and sinus drainage ports opened up more to help with re-occurring sinus infections. I didn't think the original surgery was bad and felt OK afterwards but 2 days later when all that packing got removed...that should be done under anesthesia....lol
  3. It definitely varies from rig to rig. External mounted pilot chutes such as a racer of Javelin typically don't launch as far because they are a weaker spring...They don't need to push open any flaps when activated and rigs like the Racer reserve container open wide open when activated so again the pilot chute doesn't have to launch as far. In contrast to that some rigs have a very stiff spring like a Mirage or Eclipse. Those both typically launch very far off the back because they have to push open flaps and they both also have pockets in the bottom of the reserve tray that the reserve sets in. And yes some of the launch is from different packing techniques. Hope that quickie explanation helps. Blue skies Kelly
  4. Well I'm proud to say that I sucked it up and bought a harness machine. I do want to solicit some advice from the riggers out there though. I bought an Adler 205 harness machine but it is the head only. I will have to buy the motor/clutch and table separately. What I want to know is there any special table or motor/clutch that works better for my machine or will a standard table and motor work as good as anything? Thanks for the advice!! kelly
  5. You don't wear pants under the jump suit.....you wild woman

    spoon.

well I use different spoons for different things....wooden to cook with....T-spoons to measure with....smaller metal ones to eat with.....night time snuggle spoons to get outta the dog house with....the spoon is just too versatile to discuss like this.
  7. I have 2 herniated disks in my low back and I have the pain and numbness going down the leg also. It does get better with rest and excersizes, but it doesn't take much to put me right back at square one again. I went thru the cortisone injections in the back and they were great while the effects lasted. Over all I think the stretching and abd. strengthening excersizes have done more than anything.
  8. {HUGZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ}
  9. The Mirage is one container that sometimes just have wrinkles in them like yours and there is nothing you can do about it. I have done every combo of bulk at the bottom , bulk at the top , you name it I've tried it and what it comes down to is the outter layer of cordura sewed onto the flaps is sometimes alittle more than needed and the result is the wrinkles. It appears that this is just rig by rig. I have several Mirages G-3 and G-4 that look excellent and wrinkle free when finished and I have others that no matter what I do have the same wrinkles every time. So when it comes to Mirages I wouldn't blame the rigger for the wrinkles. He is probly more frustrated about them than you are.
  10. It's the Advanced Instructor Course. It's pretty new and Rob Laidlaw is the only one right now who teaches it. I'm not exactly sure what to expect either but I figured it was a good excuse to get away to warmer weather.
  11. Reconizing a Heart Attack.....It's an easy subject for me to talk about
  12. Sweet.....I get in friday afternoon. Class begins Saturday morning, so i don't know how much free time we will get to jump but I plan on sneaking in a few.
  13. I'm leaving for the AIC in Deland in a few days....Just wondering if anyone else is attending? and hoping we have some free time to get in a couple jumps too
  14. wasn't scarey for me...but it was very strange. It's not everyday that you get a chance to watch an AFF L1 student trhow out his main side instructors pilot chute.....you know which one I'm talking about.
  15. I don't have any problem packing the racers or reflex rigs....The only rig that I have charged more for and still hate is the Wings.I can pack them and make them look good...but it's definitly a fight and worth more $$.
  16. Geez honey....your taking this whole rig washing thing seriously.....Maybe if you talk REALLY sweet I'll give you the hook-up on washing containers
  17. It is never a waste of money or resources to respond an engine company on a potential life threat. I am a professional Paramedic/Firefighter of 14 years and I can not tell you the number of times I was on a scene and had to call in the troops for additional help. On an ambulance it's just you and your partner. Thats only 4 trained hands and sometimes only 2 of those hands belong to a Medic and I'm sure you have no clue as to how much needs to be done in a very short period of time to save a trauma victim. The more trained rescuers you can get on the scene and the faster they can get there means less trauma fatalities.......and to NickDG, you really don't need any special certification to give a safety lecture at your DZ. All it would simply take is an explanation of potential injuries and how certain movements and actions can complicate injury. Your not certifying anyone your just educating them.
  18. I didn't even get an honorable mention ......Man I was nice to you all year and not even one single mention.....now I'm hurt
  19. Hey all-----just wonering if anyone has packing instructions for a para-commander. Maybe like an owners manual or something along that line. Any help would be appreciated. Blue Skies, Kelly
  20. The tandem course shouldn't be too hard and as far as the AFF course one of the biggest helpful things is a Pro-track so you can set exact altitudes as reminders. Good Luck and Blue Skies
  21. Another reason holidays suck that you forgot to mention....THE BARS ARE ALL CLOSED!! Not a big deal for people who have a SO but it sucks to sit at home and get drunk by yourself . But I have someone this year so I won't be alone
  22. I've had two occations where on AFF jumps that the bag hesitated leaving the container and on both occations I was able to just grab the bridal and just give a little tug and the bag left cleanly on both occations. The student was never aware of what happened until they saw the video. Nice job on saving the re-pack and remember to always keep your eyes wide open on AFF. You wouldn't want to miss something interesting.
  23. Been there a few times.....the mussles are a must for an appetizer and after that the lobster ravioli is great and both of the veal dinners are incredible....I'm no good with wines either but the waiters there are pretty helpful in giving suggestions. You should have a pretty good time there and if your around on the weekend stop by Quantum Leap and say HI.
  24. Well alittle good news for you.....You have 100% rights to the CT results. All youhave to do is request copies of your CT results and the hospitals has to by law release them to you free of charge. I have copies of all my x-rays and MRI results.
