I need alittle help with getting info on Skymaster canopies. I have been asked to re-line the DZ's student canopies which happen to be the Skymaster 290. Does anyone have a line trim chart on them or does anyone know who is supporting then so I can order line sets.Is Aerodyne systems still supporting them with parts?....any info would be greatly appreciated.

I finally have the answer to the question about what a "home DZ" is. It took me awhile to come up with an answer that people could easily understand. I have known where my home DZ is for years and years but could never explain how or why it is my home adequately. I finally have an easy answer as to what exactly makes a Home DZ. My home DZ has always been Quantum leap Skydiving. We recently experienced an Otter crash and our DZO and Many friends were killed. Our DZ has been closed and it's future is still uncertain. Just today one of our friends and pilots got his Steerman out and offered free rides. I put the e-mail out and the turn out was incredible. We kept that Steerman in the air ALL day long. Just a whole family of homeless skydivers got together, opened our hanger door(just to make it feel like home) and played in the air all day long without jumping. It was pretty amazing because it felt like a normal day at the DZ and we all just had a blast and no one really noticed that we weren't jumping. It just felt so normal to be together and in an airplane that actually jumping was a secondary thought. That is the BEST definition of a HOME DZ that I can even think of or even hope for.

Nice job man.....I had a similar cut away with my GTi but I didn't unzip my arms. I already knew that a line twisted spinning little elliptical was a lost cause. I was just happy that I had the optional leg release. Made it easy to just pull both arm releases and leg release so I could get on my toggles right away and follow my main and freebag down.

Why does non-drowsy cold medicine make me loopy?

Well after over 4500 jumps I can't go more than 2 weeks without a craving to jump out of an airplane....and believe me after two weeks I really don't care what type of skydive it is..hop and pop, tandem, AFF or a hot 8 way , I just want to JUMP!!!!! So apparently you have years of obsessive craving to look forward too

I was recently a recipient of a random act of kindness..I sold a rig for a friend of mine and I did a lot of work making it nice, clean and ready to go for any up and coming jumper. I thought I'd do my friend a favor and just sell the rig and not charge him anything for my work, he ended up changing the scenario on my and insisting that i keep all the money for the sale(and this is a significant amount of money).....I've never been on the receiving end of something like this and I'm truly not sure what to do.......My only thought is to purchase and set-up a very nice intermediate rig for our up and coming jumpers and use that as transition gear(free of charge) until they get their own gear......Now just so everyone one knows, the generous person is Steve Pitts, and he is doing this to help keep the spirit of Quantum Leap Skydiving alive and help us all move on after the crash...........usually I give props to someone that I hear about being so generous, but when it happens to me I'm overwhelmed....All I can say is the skydiving community and family as a whole is made up of the most amazing people you will ever meet.

Hey All...if anyone has any extra Tan F111 or knows where to get some I would be extremely greatful. I've tried PD and no luck also all the other regular gear stores didn't have any. Flight Concepts has it but I've tried numerous times to get some and they keep saying they forgot to send it out. I am willing to buy it. So if anyone has any please PM me. I need less than a yard.Thank-you

Any other skydiving EMT's/Paramedics?
skybeergodd replied to everymansaved's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've been a FF/EMTP for over 15 years professionally(currently a captain on an ALS engine). I've taught the EMT and EMTP courses and evaluate on a state level. I also teach ACLS/PALS and PHTLS.I have read all thess posts and have dumb founded by people thinking that starting an IV is actually a life saving measure. It is a life line to give drugs and to hang blood but fluid itself does not carry oxygen and at best is a very poor blood expander. In current standards the old methods of raising the blood pressure by giving masses of fluid is out the door. Current standard says to just try to maintain a pressure of around 80 to 90 systolic. Let the body shunt and tampanode blood naturally instead of thinning it to a point that it can not clot on it's own. I have treated many of my friends who have been hurt doing what they do. The best thing you can do is do GOOD ABC's(get an airway and maintain it), control bleeding and CPR if needed. Prevent other injury and do a good primary and secondary survey. Having that done prior to EMS arrival expedites them off the scene and gets our friends to hospitals and trauma surgeons faster(and in critical trauma blood, an airway with O2 and an OR is what saves lives).I have a great working relationship with our local EMS service and once they arrive I assist them with what ever they want..starting IV's for med. pushes, intubating ect. I have even gone with them as an extra pair of hands on several occations. After all that being said I do applaud the DZ's that do have spinal equipment and splinting materials available.Having the patient packaged does make for a quick turn around time on the scene and makes that golden hour or as new thinks says the Platinum 10 minutes a reality. That is what saves lives. -
Well an early Congrats on the 100th....that is a jump you will always remember....My suggestion is to always take some clothes with you so you have something other than a canopy after you land....If your rig has an ROL pouch that is a great place to stick shorts and a shirt....otherwise you can rubber band then or use a pull up cord and tie then to your chest or leg strap. Also never let anyone talk you into rear rear float(the side of the plane is COLD at 14000)

I have spent ALOT of money with paragear(being a rigger it has been almost all rigging supplies)...placed orders over the phone, thru the website and mail order and I have never had a single problem....they are a 100% class act

I Jim Beam flavored sunflower seeds are totally addictive....they might not sound good but once that first seed hits your tongue it's all over for you...those things might as well be crack cocaine because they are just as addictive.

I lost my best friends Saturday.....these guys were my life and my saving grace is I still have an incedibly good friend that is doing good in the hospital......Even though I dan't have picutes of them I would like everyone to also give prayers to Melissa's family(our recent AFF grad that we lost) and Victoria's Family(our tandem student)....and also give good thoughts to Steve who is doing well and Kim who is doing excellent in their recoveries. Please forgive any spelling errors....it is really hard to type though the tears. Endless Blue Skies to all my lost Friends Kelly -
I have survived over 4000 jumps and only see in 2D...I am kinda like you in that my eyes see independEntly and also my left eye is much more dominant and i tend to focus more out of that eye.....I have known all about this since I was a little kid. The only time things get even sketchy for me while skydiving is those late sunset jumps when I get some light then swoop thru a shadow.....my eyes lose focus badly.....but night jumps aren't an issue at all. I guess I've lived with it all my life and just learned to apdapt to it.............JUST DON'T STOP SHORT IN FRONT OF ME IN YOUR CAR!!!!!!!.

If it passed inspection I had have no reservations about doing the pack job.....PD is about a bomb proof reserve.
-
As long as the rig is airworthy and not dangerous to jump with, that is a relatively easy repair.....I have gotten permission from relative workshop to convert and old vector 1 to a vector 2 before. They sent me a letter and directions on how they wanted the conversion done. I would be amazed if they wanted your rig grounded just because of age.

Hey all.....I'm looking for good upbeat and fast music to download onto tandem videos....if you have any suggestions please let me know the artist...song name and album. Thanks and Blue Skies

What is the Roll out of bed technique?
skybeergodd replied to MarianS's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well no offense to you and I'm not wanting to get into any debates here but all that happened here was a newby asked a question and an experienced instructor answered....there was no teaching or ground preps going on. Sometimes students hear things or read things and don't think about asking questions until they get home. I don't see any problems at all with students asking questions on this forum. When they go to their respective DZ's for their next level they will be appropriately ground preped for that DZ's student program. -
What is the Roll out of bed technique?
skybeergodd replied to MarianS's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
it's how you get back belly to earth when you get stuck off your back....just pull in an arm and shoulder and act like your rolling out of bed and magically your back belly to earth -
That is what they call scarification....it's somewhat like branding but they cut deep and remove skin sections to leave the scar they want instead of burning to leave a specific scar.
