  1. I'm glad to see these forums are full of Gas Experts.....One question...Did you read any of the above posts? Your in put was about a month late.
  2. I highly recommend Glen Bangs.....we actually teaches you good technique and simple tricks of the trade to make the eval jumps easier on you. Also his eval jumps are very fair, not exactly easy but fair and you are scored fairly. If you get your rating from Glen you definitly know your stuff and are ready to go out with students.
  3. Hate to call you wrong, but there is a small amount of moisture in medical oxygen. Hence the difference between medical and aviation oxygen. Aviation oxygen is bone dry. No chance of any freezing at altitude. I'm not trying to start a huge debate so please don't reply, I don't want to hear it.
  4. Well aviation oxygen has all the moisture removed, not a real desireable trait when treating traumatic or medical emergencies but it will work in a pinch. Plus it's easier to get a medical O2 bottle filled and to refill aviation O2 bottles.
  5. $1000 Car repair???...was it a crash? would insurance have paid?....If this was a mechanical repair, then I really need to open my own shop. I will admit that I'm alittle out of date on repair bills today. I have a full shop in my home garage and do all my own repair and I do some on the side for friends that are strapped for cash. Plus my friend owns the auto parts store and I only pay is cost for parts....I mean for $1000 I can repair an entire engine or completely gut and re-build a transmission with new parts for that and probly do it for less than that with rebuilt parts.
  6. I'm gonna be there from the 26th thru the 1st...plus bringing a few good belly fliers with me. monkycndo Fozz AllisonH Remster NWFlyer HeadLicker LouDiamond Unstable QuickDraw sdctlc Soulshine SQUEAK GQ_Jumper Riddler Skybeergodd
  7. Definitly can be fixed...Sometimes scar tissue can be an issue to tattoo over but a small area like that with black ink is an easy fix...just wait to have the repair until the normal scar tissue discoloration is lightened up......I had a similar issue on a tattoo that had alot of white ink and didn't keep high enough SPF sunscreen on it. The white ink absorbed more of the heat and UV's and burned worse and blistered....it took two sittings but after the repair you can't even tell the tattoo was ever damaged
  8. Good news for you....the Vatican have relented on it's stance against cremation. You can now burn your mortal body without burning your immortal soul according to Pope Benedict( I mean really...how can Germans ever be opposed to cremation)
  9. That was probly Troy Hartman when he was doing that show where he re-created the stunts they had on MtV videos.
  10. go to Sunpaths website www.sunpath.com and read thru AC105 and the javelin Oddysey Clarification section...that will answer all your questions and if you want the same page also gives you the ability to submit your rig info to sunpath......But your legal to jump as long as the alteration is listed on your data card and in the master riggers log book.
  11. Basically they are claiming that repetitive deceleration injury can cause cysts to form within the spinal cord and if not treated can ultimately lead to permanent nerve damage.....All i can say is I'm damn glad I have my little Sabre2 now. Hopefully those sweet opening will prevent me from getting a SRS #.
  12. the best thing to do with a full face helmet in the winter time is to remove the lens and just use a pair of goggles with it....That eliminates the fog or frost problem, which is a very real danger. Mine has fogged or frosted over on me several times before I started removing it for the winter months.....also just remeber to not flare too high on landing. Thats a common mistake made especially if the sun is really reflecting off the snow. Have fun, it's definitly a very different experience jumping in the snow.
  13. The quick answer is...yes you can convert it to step in type..not a problem at all for any master rigger with a harness machine....but the problem could easily be the fit of the rig. If the leg strap padding is too short that can lead to discomfort also the newer syle leg pads(thicker padding) tend to be more comfortable that the older thinner style. Put your rig on and let a rigger give a look and get his opinion first, then decide on the steps to take care of the problem.
  14. you will quickly learn to detach yourself from your patients. When I first started(a long time ago) I used to stay in the ER room and assist or follow up with patients. Now as soon as they off my cot they are off my mind. It may sound uncaring or cruel but it's just a way to cope. I give top notch care to every patient and treat everyone with respect(at least the non drunk ones who are pissing me off at the time). To tell the truth it really is a hard job to do for a very long time. After 18 years I can see the appeal of other jobs......But Good Luck and stick with it. The EMS field always needs new and enthusiastic people.
  15. Try Simon Wade. He's near Las vegas and he sets up courses to meet your schedule. He always has an advertisement with contact info in Skydiving Magazine.
  16. I love my 212 W140....I've never had a single issue with it and have done alot of nice binding work with it....I will have to admit that the split needle bar is really cool and easy to work with, I can't really tell the difference between my work on the 212 and the split bar machines(I have alot more experience on the 212).....I say if you can get a good deal on a machine then take it...While 1 machine may be more convenient you can do nice looking quality work with any machine and enough practice. Thats just my thought and opinion.
  17. Finally....What a marathon final table it was. Sorry about the bad beat Cory. It's been awhile since I ended in first on the main tourney.
  18. close to 5000 jumps here, I do alot of 4 way team training and I also do alot of AFF jumps. All 3 of my rigs have AAD's and they are always on for jumping. Now if needed I have no problems jumping a rig without an AAD, if 1 on mine is getting at SSK for maint. or if I borrow a rig that doesn't have one,No big deal. The only idiotic thing is if someone owns one, has it installed and doesn't turn it on for the "cool" factor. Why would you pay that much and in order to keep it in the rig you have to keep it in date. If your not going to turn it on then save yourself the $$ and remove it.
  19. You haven't lived until you've been in an electric star and been kiss passed by the person across from you....WOW talk about sparks
  20. I think your way over reading or over complicating the second issue on the link.....The links used must be stamped with Maillon Rapide....those are the approved metal links for reserves...and all the manual is stating is after assembly, once the links are properly torqued then the should be mark with some type of seal(I and most people use a drop of red nail polish). That way at next repack if the seal is not broken then you know the links are tightened properly. This just prevents someone from loosening them and retightening them every repack. Over torqueing those links can be a problem and the sealing hopefully with prevent that......your idea just over engineers that one step, I understand thats an area of epertise you have but if everyone who had an area of expertise I.E fabric, aerodynamics,ect...wanted their technical picky expertise spelled out then we would end up with packing novels instead of packing manuals.
  21. Victory is mine!!!!WooHoo....I did think the late game was going to end before the main game though.
  22. Many of DZ.comers that I didn't know sent donations when I asked for help for the Quantum Leap otter crash so the least I can do help out others...donation is on the way.
  23. Over a 1000 jumps on my trulock toggles without a single problem....I agree with everone else's advice to you to put the pin in first and make sure it goes straight in, thats the way i've always done it and no excessive wear and no pre-mature brakes releases.
  24. 300 lbs on a pre-connect(1 3/4) would set you on your butt for sure but 300 lbs on a duece and a half or a 3" would definitly take you for a ride. I know I've ran 250lbs(relief valves on our trucks go off at 275lbs) thru our ladder trucks master stream and damn near cut the roof off a vacant building that was burning.
  25. Keep an eye on e-bay....Not too uncommon to spot stolen items for sale on there.
