Do you take the main out before doing a reserve repack?
skybeergodd replied to sunshine's topic in Gear and Rigging
The main is not under any TSO and is not considered an approved parachute as mentioned in FAR part 65. the only parts of the parachute system is mentioned in part 65 is the harness..the reserve container and the reserve parachute along with the pilot chute and freebag or diaper. The main pack tray and main parachute are not TSO'ed and there for not a riggers responsibilty......thats why we only seal the reserve and not the main also. -

I leave the main in for the re-pack.....I open and inspect...close and then do the reserve. It makes it easier to make the rig look good it prevents to reserve from pushing down into the main tray and you can see how the rig is looking as you close each flap and it serve as a good packing weight while it's in there. -

Just keep the tat covered with a thin layer of neosporin or anything like that and try to keep it as dry as possible and you should be fine. The one on my chest scabbed up like you are describing and it turned out fine......just remember not to scratch it when it starts to itch...you don't want to pull the ink out if a scab gets accidentally pulled off.

We had the Red Bull promo truck at our DZ a couple times and now they have me hooked on the stuff.....I'm like a complete addict...but the one up side is you don't have to switch drinks after your done jumping....Red Bull all day and as the sunlight fades you just add alittle vodka and your set for the night.

Yeah, I'll be out Saturday...I'm in such a good mood now that I might not even use the old over 1000 jump exemption and buy some good guy beer for new equiptment.

I can't believe it....after 12 weeks of intense waiting it's finally here.....MY NEW RIG!!!!!! Vector 3 V304.. I got off work this morning and picked it up. Put it all together and it's done!!!.I've always had matching colors, but I can't believe just how bad I've gotten...besides a matching custom color reserve, I found out that true lock toggles only come in yellow. Well that would never do and relative workshop wouldn't make me a custom set so I got the material and took the yellow toggles apart so i could see how they were made and I made myself a set of toggles..1 red and 1 purple......so basically I spent my entire Thanksgiving from the minute I got home to now rigging and sitting at the sewing machine.....anyway I'm thinking about getting professional help for this sickness.

My Missouri plate is my reminder of a jump along time ago that ended with a low hook and a broken leg.....I proudly display..POUND-N on my plates After pounding yourself into the ground you have two choices...cry about it or laugh about it.

One of our jumpers bought a Silhouette when they first came out on the market and it was a great starter canopy. It was very responsive and landed nice and easy. In fact this might tell you how impressive it was....when she finally went with a smaller canopy our DZO bought it from her and put it into a rental rig for students once they were off student status but hadn't bought gear yet. It now has well over 1000 jumps on it and still flys and lands like a champ.

My birthday is kinda a famous one for skydiver.....11-22-1971 D.B.Cooper robbed a bank and two days later hijacked the jet and skydived out to escape.

If found that polar fleece pullovers work very well...thermal spandex pants under a pair of jeans and neoprene gloves plus one of those fleece polar gators to keep the neck warm and a full face helmet. All that has kept me toasty warm for hundreds of below freezing jumps here in Missouri. BLUE SKIES AND WARM WEATHER

Now just to throw another wrench into this discussion....what if he's a multi-suit skydiver. I have a RW, FF, Bird-man and video suit. Does this mean I'm available to the females of all the different disciplines,,,,,,or maybe I'm just really confused. As far as the non PD reserve.....well thats an immediate cut away and run away from him as fast as you can.

WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!What a Hot Butt......That definitly deserves a " How You Doin' "

I came up Ozzy Osbourne and spent over $98,000 on beer and who cares about the ferrari....lets figure out this amount in something real. Rigs and jump tickets. Average container today $1650 Average reserve $950 Average main $1600 Cypres $1000 jump tickets $19 on average for an otter OK now at $5200 per complete rig I could have bought 18 rigs and had enouch left over for 231 jumps......and if I spent that entire amount on jumps it would be 5158 jumps from an otter. Now those numbers really do put things into perspective. Damn now I've gotten all depressed...I need a beer to feel better or at least a hug
