  1. Our turnout gear is 100% kevlar and according to NFPA 1500....all kevalar material is subject to fail after 5 years and is therefore not in compliance and should be placed out of service for all live and training use...
  2. Big Praise to Ron on his great way of putting it .....again as ron said Sabers are great canopies that are first generation technology....by the time Tom was jumping them they were older technolgy and better alternatives were on the market and the Hard openings were already documented.....so is money (a cheap used canopy for me to jump) was the issue then YOU are to blame not PD for you injury......I have thousands of jumps on sabres and sabre2 and I'm still jumping strong today and I KNOW FULLY WELL that packing has some issue with the way they open.... I've only ben whacked after someone else packed for me but when I packed for myself I've had thousands of beautiful openings and all I can say is THANKS to PD!!
  3. A PD reserve has a " life tag on it" basically 25 jumps or 40 re-packs it has to go in for a manufacturer inspection before it gets deemed as airworthy again....so maybe PD found something they didn't like on the inspection....or If the manufacturer used Kevlar....then Kevlar has a limited life before it begins to de-grade...(Believe me as a fierefighter who wears kevlar gear into structure fires)...most canopy manufractureres who use kevlar know this but won't publish this fact.....but National Fire Protection Agency says Kevlar is only good for 5 years and then it's prone to failure.....and at least ! reserve manufacturer uses kevlar and is aware of this fact and WILL NOT recall it's reserves after 5 years for a mandatory re-line.......anyone who wants to know this manufactureres name can PM me and I'll give it to you.
  4. I have gotten bottle from less than 50% of my saves.....most have given me a thanks but only the jumpers that have been around for a few years have bought the bottle.....the newbies have never bought and I do have 1 tandem instructor who aired out my reserve that refused to pay and HE is also a RIGGER....and I also have 1 save on myself and bought the bottle. I use the bottles like trophies...I put a name and date on them and display them in my bar and when we party at my place the jumpers can proudly point out their bottle and tell their"No Shit There I Was" story and then pass out shots from their bottle.
  5. THANKS>>>>i will definitly give him a call
  6. This is a serious post and comments and various posts about the Sentinel AAD are basically unwelcome.....all I want to know is where can I get an owners manual or any technical info about a Sentinel AAD. I have a good base knowledge of them but I have a couple new rigger who i am responsible for now and I'm trying to get all manuals and packing instructions put togther for them and I'm having a hard time finding anything on Sentinel AAD's......and SSE isn't being very helpful to me. A big THANKS for anyone who can help.
  7. A Racer apcks up as easy as any other rig....it's just a different method to close them than any other rig. One piece of advise I can give to any rigger out there is to get romoveable handle bodkins. The Sunshine Factory selld them and they make closing a Racer very easy and simple. Now a Wings on the other hand ....I do chrge for for those pain in the butt rigs.
  8. you can find the stall point without completely stalling it thats true......but you can not know the recovery characteristics without a complete stall.... to just bring your canopy to the brink of a stall and then letting up on the brakes will NOT give you the true recovery traits.
  9. I have stalled every canopy I've owned and a few that I haven't....But Honestly I believe it is a good thing to find the stall point of your canopies(up high that is) that way you know the limits and performance you have before you get put in an ugly situation and are pushing the limits of the canopy so you can land safely.
  10. I have packed probly 50 to 60 of those DAMN things(including 1 today) and If I ever catch the stupid idiot that decided to market those pieces of S**T I'd love to kick his A**( and yes I know that Precision Aero. put them out and George Galloway is the man to look for).....Huge pain in any riggers ass and I highly recommend to any rigger to charge an extra $15 to $20 for a pain in the ass tax. I know that I do.
  11. No I have not seen the special.....I was one of the guys that was in the two way drag off too....My one shat at fame and I didn't even get to see it...It was a pretty fun day.....the landing area was a baseball field.. it was kinda tightr trying to get 25 people in there but it all worked out...a few people landed in a secondary feild that was picked out but the crowd didn't care.
  12. Hahahaha....I know the answer to that question cuz I was one of those guys singing like an idiot.....It was several years ago when MGM movies re-released the movie Young Frankenstein on it's 25th anniversary. They wanted to film 25 skydivers dressed like Young Frankenstein to jump into a town named Frankenstein and then rename the town to Young Frankenstein. As luck would have it there was only 1 town in the country named Frankenstein and it was in Missouri and only 30 mins. from my DZ so we got asked to do the promo. They brought in make-up artists and had Norm Kent do the video. It was a hell of alot of fun and the pay wasn't too bad either.
  13. Well it took awhile and alot of yell and frustration and even some tear.....By our own Jen(NoShitThereIWas) Is out newest little Rigglet.... She passed her oral and practical exams today and is officially seal symbol UBJ....so anyone seeing that symbol on their rig should be very afraid...just kidding....she did great and made me look good. So big HUGZ and Congrats to Jen
  14. I've done several naked jumps but landing off was never a worry for me. My rigs are set up for BOC and ROL so I just pack it for BOC and put a pair of shorts in the old ROL pouch and I'm all set. So no embarrassing moments for me.
  15. Well now that makes three of us......we should start our own thread about looking Paige's butt "Why tiptoe thru life only to safely arrive at death"
  16. While Wiffle ball was just the S**t while growing up, I can't believe you left off one of the childhood toy icons....the Light Bright.....now that was the ultimate in childhood entertainment......well besides Dad's nudey magazines of course
  17. We are gonna miss that 10,000 feet safety check....but does this mean that the Rantoul Quantum Leap kitchen will be up and running again this year?? Oh Yeah and when you gonna come down and have a few Beers with the Boys Bill....we all miss the sky Junior. Heal Quick...
  18. good luck on the tests.....I just finished my business law final last week and it wasn't too bad.... But the finals for classes that didn't bore the crap outta me are usually pretty easy(probly cuz I actually paid attention instead of sleeping)
  19. How many times have I tried to explain to you how simple we are. You never seem to get it and all of a sudden you now post that you know men are simple. Men are very easy creatures and Flyinghonu sumed it up best with this quote .
  20. AMEN Brother!!!!!! If women would just learn to turn off their brains and intuition, then all men would be much happier.
  21. OOOOHHHHHH......Beer and Boobies
  22. What she experiences after the seizures is a common occurrence calls Todd's Paralysis.....The seizures can be easily controlled with medicine and most doctors take removing someone's ability to drive very seriously and use it as a last resort. Even if for some reason the doctor does feel the need to remove her driving privilege , she will most likely have them re-instated after the doctor feels he has the seizures under control and the medicine dose just right. In cases of seizures she is going to have to weigh out ....Can she live without driving for a relatively short time or can she live with the fact that she may cause an accident that takes a life and that is something she will have to live with for the rest of her life. Tough decision to make.
  23. Sure....it can be super tacked to a chest pillow and that will hold it on there just fine.
