In the case of the Air Force security policeman I spoke of, the last the he needed to worry about was the value of the weapon- Even though we were at peace at the time and something like the WTC was something you could only read about in a Tom Clancy novel--- Well, you can guess the rest-- Blues--- ---D

Brings an interesting event to mind- While in the Air Force, working on F-4's on a "secure" flightline, we were delighted to come across one of our Security Policemen asleep in his truck, windows wide open, and his M-16 lying across the back of the seat - So, we did what good airmen should do- We confiscated his weapon and turned it in to his watch commander - All while the poor cop was sound asleep - I think we all know that sleeping on duty is a big no-no for a military person, and a REAL big mistake for a military cop to get busted snoozing - Add losing your weapon to the list- Last I heard he was "releived from duty" - I think that was a really polite way of saying he was into some TALL trouble--

Dump a bunch of really heavy oil in the crankcase and hope whatever dealer you take it to doesn't immediatly realize what it is - Get whatever you can for it- Helpful hint - Dealers can give more for trade against a used car vs. new car, and right now there is a glut of used cars thanks to the 0% financing blitz - You should be able to get a smokin' deal- Let us know how you make out! Blue ones- ---D

I'd also have to say sex- Strange but true- I think I heard somewhere that skydiving causes the brain to release alot of the same chemicals that it does during sex, too- Anybody have more info on that?
-
I'm currently jumping a 7-cell, 150' Spectre - I like it, buy haven't jumped much else to speak of, so I'm limited-
-
Really basic question- What are the basic differences between 7 and 9 cell canopies - (Other than one has 7 cell and the other has 9--) as far has handling and other characteristics? It just occured to me I haven't come across much information addressing this directly- Probably right under my nose -- Thanks in advance, folks!!! --D

I own a Pro-Dytter, and will be adding a Pro-Track in the future- After overwhelming reviews in favor of the Pro-Track, and I don't think anyone at my home DZ will even consider a Skytronics, it seems like a no-brainer here- Blues! ---D
-
I just buy a case once a month and bring it to the club meeting- Even if I didn't have a "first"-
-
Know what they say- What doesn't kill us makes us stronger- Sounds like we've all had a hell of a workout at one point in our lives or another! We must be a bunch of tough MF's!!! Blue ones everyone! ---D

1:2:0 Did one nice one - one jump to kind of warm up then on a seven way, the exit funneled and I went low, and just couldn't seem to pop back up in time to dock with base before 4500' - During debrief it was revealed to me what I suspected all along- I could really use a different jumpsuit - I was hoping it was my skills (which it is to large degree-) But the suit is a major factor, also- So here I am, wishing I could buy a brand-new jumpsuit, and right now it's all I can do to come up with money for jumps - DAMN!! (musing to self-) Maybe if I sew handles to my freefly suit? Hope everyone had some cool blue ones! ---D
-
Hang in there, bro- Keep thinking good vibes and we'll keep sending 'em your way! As always--Blue ones! --D

I'm set at 4500, 3500, and 2000 - If I don't have anything at all out when the 2000 wail starts I'm going straight to the reserve, I also have a Spectre that loves to snivel.
-
Yeah I can dig it! -We plan on moving South at retirement time- I plan on making it convient to a DZ, in a desert location- No grass to mow, no snow to shovel- -I never locked my truck until I started keeping my rig behind the seat- (Extended cabs are handy-) -Haven't considered dumping my 401(k) --- yet-! - I have several guns I rarely if ever use- I suppose I could get rid of them- I don't hunt anymore so---
-
One of my whuffo co-workers asked (she is our company safety rep-) what the most important piece of safety equipment we skydivers use - I told her our brains and our training - I'd like to think I wasn't off track on that- (at least not too far- ) --D
-
-Making sure I get the house chores done during the week so I don't have that stopping me on the weekend- -getting really cheap haircuts so I have more $$ for jumps- -Today I'm at work sorting through all my scrap stainless steel (which I just discovered sells for fiftten cents a pound, and accumulates rather quickly-) scrap brass, etc. to go on my account - -I will pack for jumps- -I may be in the market for a new woman- -- "My wife says if I don't quit jumping she'll leave me- How's the spot look to you?" -Can't take on a part-time job 'cuz it'll interfere with jumping-(Working OT is enough challenge-) -No one at work asks what my weekend plans are- they already know- -No one asks what I did over the weekend - they already know- Ain't this such a wonderful sport!! --D

I personally beleive in AAD's - I also beleive in other's choices- I ride without a helmet, but wear a seatbelt in the truck. If some one wants to jump w/o an AAD it's thier choice, this is a free country. Same for hook knives, audibles, and RSL's. But I don't take anything for granted and nothing is foolproof - ever. .02 worth of MHO- -D
-
I was told that once you take that first jump, you are a skydiver- albeit not very experienced, but a skydiver nonetheless- Expensive? Depends on your perspective - I have met people who easily drop 300 bones and much much more just going out on the town- Equipment is a significant investment - But look at the guy who spends 10-15 grand on a bass fishing boat, plus fees to put it in the water, beer, bait, etc. He probably spends just as much on a day or weekend of fishing as an "average" skydiver does jumping. It's all your perspective-- Sell my Harley? I'd think not, it's by far my favorite way to get to the DZ! Besides- I've got a lot more to sell before I'd have to sell it- Just MHO- For what it's worth - -D
-
Suggest he take a trip to the Air Force museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base - They have a nice little display there of Col. Kittenger's record-setting little jump- I've seen it myself! Lots of other really cool stuff there too- And I'm just a slow-poke- I've only been up to 154 myself in a track-
-
I lucked out that way in that I've been a really big football fan- Or a big fan of any major sport really - Until I discovered skydiving- Man - This sport has been so addicting- It wouldn't surprise me if my wife leaves me-- Good thing is it'll leave more time to jump! Man I am so evil--
-
-people are unwilling to talk to me now that, each conversation ends up connecting to SKYDIVING I'm glad I'm not the only one with that problem!
-
No your probably not insane, just have a severe addiction to blue skies and andrenaline - For instance, I have- -Told my boss I was going to "recycle" a bunch of old motors we had sitting around and had no use for - I sold them on ebay to help pay for my new rig- -I scrounge every bit of scrap copper, brass and stainless steel I can to help pay for jumps- - Told my wife I was going up to the DZ to help pack while a bunch of folks practiced speed-stars - In reality I participated in my first three speed stars! (But I really did go up there to pack!) -Whenever I tell my boss I need to cut out a little early he always assumes it's to go jump- (and is usually right-) -People know that if they ask me what I did over the weekend they know what the answer will be-- (duh!) -Whenever I get ANY extra cash in my hands it goes on my account- - Work overtime whenever I can, but only if the weather sucks, to pay for jumps- -I've even considered selling my bike, but stopped short of that - Nothing beats a ride to the DZ on a warm sunny day, other that the jumping! -I know several folks who live at the DZ on weekends! (I would be too if I were single!) SO - You're not alone! Blue ones! -D
-
Hey all- Mid week numbers? 0:3:1 Not typical for me - I got in three quick jumps Tuesday - went right to the DZ after work not expecting to jump at all and went almost straight to plane from the truck- What a great way to wind down after a shitty day at work! The dive went great - (8-way not-too-speedy-star) and everyone was all smiles, whoops and hollers- Absolutely fantastic - GOD how I love this sport! Two more somewhat funneled attemps (I need to work on swooping-) and my first crack at speed stars- Cheers!
-
Man, that's just not right!
-
Cool - Will give it a try! Thanks, man! Blue ones- -D

Mine sits just in front of my ear - I have no problem hearing it, and my hearing is a little weaker on that side- I haven't had a problem as of yet with it falling out of the pocket, but am aware there can be one- One of these days I'll devise a velcro thingy to hold it on place-
