  1. It all sounds super cool Michele! Can't wait for it to air! Hope your having a really good time with your 15 minutes of fame! C-Ya! --Lenny Easy Does It
  2. Thanks for the good vibes, bro! I won't be jumping this weekend, but NEXT weekend- that's another story! Everyone, touch your handles early and often! And don't forget to offer to touch the cutie's handles too! Blue ones, dudes! Easy Does It
  3. I like tell them I've died and gone to hell, and if there is a God hopefully they'll go to hell, too! I asked one poor girl (she admitted to being on her first day-) if they taught her how to handle rejection, and when she aswered me I told her "Handle this!" and hung up-- And once in a while I just play with thier minds until I get bored- Easy Does It
  4. Hey! I've been to "undisclosed" before! I even had the "return date undetermined" phrase in the fine print! Neat travel agent. eh? Sounds like Raeford is a great place! --C-Ya! Easy Does It

    Advice

And, that 214.00 would buy at least 10 jumps with enough left over for MORE BEER!!! Sounds like a plan to me!!! Easy Does It
  6. I damn near had a similar incident- The week before I had ridden the bike to the DZ, and just wore my rig in my back and put the rest of my stuuf in a duffle on the sissy bar- I kept a close eye on my reserve handle all the way to the DZ and I had shoved the hacky into the pouch so it wouldn't dangle in the breeze - So I get to the DZ and so on and on the plane about two minutes before exit I start going through handle checks - NO HACKY!!! After my heart skipped several beats I dug it out of the pouch and had someone check my main pin also - Whew- Everything else went fine- there is a DAMN GOOD REASON we do handle checks!!! Easy Does It
  7. In spite of the unfortunate incidents (My deep condolences to the friends and loved ones-)and a little negative press, it sounds like Rantoul may the home for WFFC for at least a few more years. I didn't make it to the convention this year, but am looking foward to next year! Glad to hear the public was so very warm and receptive! Easy Does It
  8. The one I use here, is a non-skydiving nic given to me by some folks I work with - I ride a Sportster, and I dumped it in the company parking lot -- Another one is "no-pull" - The reason is known to a few persons here (you know who you are-) and at my home DZ- Easy Does It
  9. The pin on my rig is turned toward the right - seems like the way it should go in relation to the bridle routing - And I never really paid any attention to my closing pin necklace- (which is the only peice of jewelerly I have ever worn, aside from my wedding band, which comes off at the DZ---) Easy Does It
  10. I get some neat, heavy-duty mechanics shades from my Snap-On tool guy - about twenty bucks - They're really tough, and fit under my Z-1. I usually keep a pair for a year and by then they're scratched to shit and need replacement - (I pretty much wear shades year-round) And if I do lose'em it's no big dent in the wallet- Easy Does It
  11. Havn't been on in while - Let's see - - 5- number of times I got lucky with the lady this past week- 2 - number of jumps - 1- Beer! First time at new DZ - Did a couple hop-n-pops at Danielson in Connetticut - Neat little DZ - Landing area is kinda tight - LOTS OF TREES! MEt some some cool folks including Paul "Nellie" Nelson - Will be back again next year! Cheers! Easy Does It
  12. You got it wired, man! There's all those other "extreme" sports - and then there's us - we're in a class by ourselves, and I don't know about the rest of you, but I like it here! I am SO glad we're not part of the "mainstream" What do y'all think? Easy Does It
  13. mmmm - yeah, come to think of it, I haven't put any work into my Harley, either. The truck goes unwashed for weeks at a time-(just gets dusty at the DZ anyway-) Jumping did motivate me to work out, so I spend time at the gym - but only in the colder weather - Fortunatley my job is pretty physical - except when I'm in the office post whoring- Damn- Easy Does It
  14. August 8th, 2000 Tandem out of a Porter Chicagoland Skydiving at Hinckley, IL April of 2001 I started static line progression at Sky Knights in East Troy Wisconsin where I still jump - only have 68 jumps to date- Still working out a jump schedule with the wife, who is a ground-hugging Whuffo- Spouses can be such a ball and chain- Live to Jump, Jump to Live!! -Lenny Easy Does It
  15. I my self just discovered skydiving, (60 some-odd jumps ago-) and hook turns aren't even on my list of things to do even someday - but before this never really got into anything this intense. What else is there? Live to Jump - Jump to Live! Easy Does It
  16. I too have to agree with the advice not to go crazy with credit cards- I went static line 'cuz it gave me more canopy time, and I got more jumps per buck- All of my training was paid in cash- And once you put your mind to it you'll be surprised how much dough you can free up without going into debt. I tried jumping every 3-4 weeks, but my performance hurt, the more often you jump in the beginning the better. The only thing I took out a loan for was my rig, I got used for 2500.00 - and I'm saving more than enough to cover the payments and interest. (figure rental is 20 a jump?) Be prudent, and the sport doesn't really have to cost alot- I did quickly find out that I can sell scrap stainless steel for .20 a pound, and it accumulates in my shop at work pretty quickly, especially since I started jumping-- mmmmmm--- Easy Does It
  17. Hope y'all don't mind listening for a sec-- I really appreciate it! In case y'all didn't know it - I'm a part- time Dad - I have got three GREAT kids that live most of the time in Western NY with thier Mom- (divorced in 97 after 14 years-) I live 700 miles away in Illinois - have been here since 96 And every summer they come out to visit (one of several every year, along with weekly phone calls) Well I guess this year reality is starting to bite my ass - My oldest (Liz) is now 17, graduated high school and is getting ready to start at Fredonia State in the fall- So now the visits and phone calls will be few and far between - And now it's time for the other two, Sarah, 15 and Esau, 10 to go back to NY - This is the part of the visit that really sucks- I really start bumming and EVERYONE knows it! And a guy starts wondering if he's doing OK as a part-time Dad, are they going to resent me in the future, and so on- I try to make the most of each visit, call every week, and child support is the first thing that gets paid each week, even before mortgage and groceries- And thier Mom and I get along well ( MUCH better now that we're not married!) I hope I'm not doing too bad-- Cool thing is Sarah is TOTALLY into my skydiving and just can't wait to make her first jump- and loves hanging out at the DZ with me - And I have to remind the guys that she's JAILBAIT! Point of the post is- Are there any single/ part time parents out there with the same or similiar situations? I could use a little support from some one in the same place--- You all are great! Thanks in advance! -Lenny Easy Does It
  18. That's what I call a "ground-hugging Whuffo" Which would describe my wife - And skydiving is about get in the way for us, too- I'll keep ya posted-- Easy Does It
  19. My beer jump was a tandem, August 8th, 2000 - The next spring was the start of static line training - When I see tandem students at the DZ I like to go up to them and say "Hey!!! Your rig fell off your back!! (sounding surprised and concerned-) I get some funny looks---! Easy Does It
  20. 2:3:1 Three on Sat- Beer for 1st time on a demo rig- Javelin Oddesy - WAY more comfortable than my Racer- all those rings and the backpad cut makes big difference! I really like it! Easy Does It
  21. You know it's really bad when Blazing Saddles is interesting!!!! Easy Does It
  22. Depends on the wweather for this kid too- Summertime it's a pair of sawed off jeans and maybe a t-shirt or tank top, and either wrestling shoes or sneakers , under my secondhand Bev suit (white black and dark gray- Rig is 100% black-) or my cool Bomber freefly suit - Purple bottom half and top is neon yellow w/purple tyedye- Wintertime gets a little more serious- Thermals, two pair of socks, jeans, longsleeve t-shirt and a polypro turtleneck, then the jumpsuit, two liners under a pair of cold-weather wide receivers' gloves, and my Z-1. How "cold"? Last year the coldest temp I recall was neg. 18 F at 10,500 - I wonder what the wind chill was? Andrenaline is a wonderful anti-freeze! Easy Does It
  23. Go Burn up some sky, baby!! Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy!!!!! And when you're done with that.................... ENJOY SOME MORE!!!!!! Blue ones Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Lenny Easy Does It
  24. Man- I know EXACTLY where you're coming from! Been there 100% - All I can tell you is- Relax as best you can, bullshit with the others on the plane, go over the dive plan in your head, review your emergency procedures, and try not think about the actual nervous- If you know you're gonna be rockin' once you're out the door, concentrate on how good that buzz is going to be- I had the the same thing for about 30- 40 jumps or so (not that long ago- I'm just getting past # 65 myself-) I would be so f*cking nervous - Then as soon as I landed I couldn't wait to manifest again! The more you jump the less it will bother you, But I've talked to guys with 1,000's of jumps (who hasn't?) and they still get it a little- So you're not alone- Sorry for carrying on so long--- Blue Ones, Bro! -Lenny Easy Does It
