  1. I've one pic of me on my tandem jump at Hinckly, and a bunch of photos off the internet on my screen saver- When people come to my office (which I'n not in very often-) or vendors come in it's funny to watch them flash on the screen- eventually I get the inevitable question - "do you skydive?" Easy Does It
  2. Am I safe to assume you found a new set of wheels? What did you settle on? - Hopefully I'll be down your way in August sometime! C-Ya! -Lenny Easy Does It
  3. Wow - geee Sunpath is going to be here at Sky Knights in July. Sure hope I don't need a chop job. I just cut my Spectre for the beer time a week ago. (bad pack job) But a great reserve pack! -Good on You! what did you think of the Sabre 2? Blue ones- Lenny Easy Does It
  4. 1:0:1 Drove to NY for my oldest daughter, Liz' graduation 1= First one out of high school, 2 more to go! The other two returned to Illinois with my new wife and I - No jumps, but 1 case of beer for first kid through high school! She'll be attending Fredonia U. in the fall - Hopefullt my 15 year old Sarah will talk the wife into letting us go to the DZ after work tonite- Blue ones everyone!!!! -Lenny Easy Does It
  5. Riding motorcycles mostly for me- And probably still searching for something to fill the void in my life that skydiving does- Funny - Never knew how blue the sky really is until now- One of these days I'll start writing all the philosophcal stuff that goes through my mind on the way to 14,000 - Either that or I'd be trying to make a living selling pornograpic pictures of snow geese and antelope- or something like that-
  6. Absolutely! Now probably more than ever! Blue ones all! -Lenny

    Cypres

I wouldn't sweat it- It'll turn itself off in 14 hours- I don't think I've ever turned mine off-
  8. Word, bro- I had my beer cutaway yesterday, and like I said in the post, the first thing that crossed my mind was- "how did I pack this shit?" 1/1000th of a second later my hands were doing what they should- thanks to muscle memory and not being too cool to practice before EVERY jump- Main thing is- I had a mal because I screwed up my pack job- Nobody's fault but my own- I got off cheap with a $55 repack and two cases of beer- could have been worse - Think I'm gonna be anal on my next pack job? Damn skippy! Wanna give me flak for taking and extra five minutes and missing a load? Up yours! Hope everyone has, Blue skies, schweet openings, and soft landings! 'later--- ---Lenny
  9. Hey Girl! Glad to hear all went well- Get better soon! Sending all the good stuff you way! -Lenny
  10. I've been replaying it in mind all day- I didn't actually "think" through the steps, like I did when I first learned the procedure over a year ago- I recall the sound of the velcro peeling, but I guess you could say I sort of muscled it off- I did hear the "ka-chink" - had a very brief moment of deja-vu- Weird- Maybe in a past life? NAAAAAH-! Funny thing- the first thing that ran through my mind when I saw what I had, was, "how the hell did I let myself pack this shit?" That took 1/1000th of a second- then the hands went to motion- For some reason I kinda have a new sense of "belonging-" -Random thoughts on handle-touching- I touch my handles often! I like it! I reccommend it to everyone! Do it early and often! I like to watch people touch thier handles - (Girls? Can I watch you?) I'll let you touch mine if you let me touch yours- Touching your handles in front of people is cool- Especially if they're newbies! Didn't forget my rigger- He was there to witness the event! First case was for him! Hardest part of the whole ordeal (after the fact-) was telling the little lady when I got home - (she is always scared for me-) Thanks for all the support, folks - You're a great group! I luv ya all! BLUE SKIES! Otters Forever! -Lenny
  11. Happened yesterday evening, Launched a six-way that went well save one of us going low, broke at 4,500, dumped at 3,500, looked up it discover Loki had helped me pack with a line group crossed over- Induced a nice spin, didn't take me but a second at most to decide to go to plan b- I am so glad I go through the cutaway procedures so often, everythng seemed so fluid and natural! In seconds I was under my bright yellow PD 160 reserve, located my freebag and main, fortunately everything unscathed and easy to recover- I did a couple practice flares then I even stood up the landing! I am quite pleased with myself but I sure don't want a repeat performance. Took a while get over the rush, talked to some folks about the cause of the mal - (Packing error on my part-) Then off to score two cases of beer - Quite an experience! I'm kinda glad it happened, but sure don't want it to happen again! Blue ones, everyone!!! -Lenny
  12. Big difference between courteous driving, and being a f*cking inconsiderate bastard- Wanna cut in front of me? I hope you have a shitty car and don't mind damage - You have a good chance of it- If the road is necking down to one lane and you're stuck in the wrong lane, if you're cool, use a turn signal, and don't try to force your way in. I'll probably let you in- If you come up from WAY behind and try to shoce your nose in ahead of me with no siganls or anything, IF you make it in you're going to have a hard time- Oh, and I'm not predjudiced- I DON'T CARE WHO I HIT! There's a few of you out there - Maybe we didn't swap paint, but you've had a trip on the shoulder! Be cool behind the wheel, man, and I'll be cool to you! Drive like an asshole, and I'll be more than happy to return the favor! Do unto others, y'know? Blue ones!
  13. 2:0:0 Spent the day in Chicago with the little lady, went to Navy Pier, a couple bars, then took her to the movies- Spending the day today working on the house - Nice weekend, too- Kinda weird- first weekend in a long time I haven't jumped for other than weather or wind reasons- But Sharon reallyppreciates it! I'll be up at the DZ this Tuesday to do mini-big-ways with the gang, though! Blues ones, Folks!
  14. So far all I've sold is every bit of scrap stainless steel and copper I could scrounge out af my shop at work - Now I'm eyeing some stuff at the house here - and my 401(k)-- Here we go!
  15. Koozies - And all the above are good ideas!
  16. My faverite would first be "High Flight" - I've read that alot in many different places and occasions- Not just funerals - Next would be "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe, and "Jabberwocky" - For some reason the author escapes me at the moment-
  17. I must also say "well said" As a newbie myself I am concerned with the current events- I can look back at my recent training and see many shortcomings- (hindsight is 20/20) both on my own behalf and the the individuals doing the training, coaching, etc- If I could ask one thing of all the experienced jumpers out there, who are also concerned with the numbers who have been injured or killed-- Please set an example for us newbies, and try not to be too cool to jump with a low-timer- Tell us if you notice we have a tendancy to flare a little too late- Make pin checks a cool thing- And I could make this list very long, I think we all get the picture- Good Blue stuff to everyone! -Dumpster
  18. I've jumped a 182, King Air and Twotter- Fave is the Otter- Quick to altitude and nice big door- I beleive that doing a hanging exit off a 182 should be a rite of passage- I also love jumping- My wife's bones!!!!! (She's not a skydiver!) Does that count? C-Ya- ---D
  19. All I can say is--- DAMN!
  20. I was offered 850 for my Spectre 150 with about 300 jumps on it-
  21. Jennifer and Marty Martin make the Zute Sute-- Great suits and good prices, too- Just ask anyone next time your at the DZ- They'll get you in touch! -Lenny
  22. I concur- Like you said, better to have and not need than need and not have- Cypres, Reserve and Hook knife- (and a few folks might even throw RSL in there, too-) --Lenny
  23. I started jumping about a year after we got married ( started jumping last spring-) and now I'm beginning to perceive some effects on the relationship- She is a dedicated ground-hugger - While I hope not, I can't say I wouldn't be surprised if this one spirals in, and I find myself single for the third time-
  24. 1:3:0 Just did solos this week, I'm jumping my freefly suit, and will will probably be using it for RW for a bit 'til I save up the the scratch for a new ZuteSute - My old RW suit is up for sale - (going cheap-) Nothing wrong with it, just too tight for my weight - I fall way too fast in it- Also working on my landings and accuracy - Wonderful weather, and we broke our record - 27 King Air loads WooHoo!!- We did celebrate! Oh Yeah- I'm a Sky Knight and proud of it! - PROBLEM!? Hope everyone had a great weekend! How's the car shopping going, Andy? I hope to be making a trip to your neighborhood this summer - After all, it's where I did my beer tandem- C-Ya's Later!!! ---Lenny
