  1. PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals Yum Yum!
  2. I thought I was the only one to do that- Exit without closing my Z-1 - And you're right- I may could have done the whole jump without it closed- ! I personally love my Z-1, and have had no problem with the fabric coming off ir anything - at least not yet- I wear low-profile sunglasses under it, and it's no sweat- Opening it under canopy is easy - Sorry you guys have had problems, mine's been good to me and lots of folks up here like 'em too!
  3. We're hoping to see it soon too- (Arava-) We're supposed to be using it one Tuesday a month to do some big-ways training-
  4. And people wonder why sometimes folks snap and go postal? When a person has to go through hassles like this it's almost understandable why they might be inclined to enter the building with large- caliber firearms!
  5. More feedback from a happy Spectre owner - I'm loaded at about 1.25-1.3 or so- depending on recent beer/pizza intake- I leave the nose hanging out, and roll the tail maybe twice before flopping it on the floor- I get a pretty decent opening this way and actually got a slightly hard opening once- But they are prone to painfully long snivels- You got lots of good advice here from the all the posts! -Enjoy!!!

    high speed!

You'll love DSL- When it's working it's GREAT - But it can have problems- I had it until we moved into our new house and it's not available in this area - we're close enough to the station but the wiring in our OLD (est. 1926) subdivision won't support it- Enjoy!! -D
  7. Hey! Navy Pier is a cool place to go- and there are lots of restaurants and bars- plus some great museums, zoos, etc.- I really enjoyed seeing Blue Man Group - go to blueman.com - they're at he Brair Street Theatre- VERY cool!
  8. Enjoy the new skid lid, man!! I love mine!!! Just cant decide how to get it painted- Maybe they should sell them in primer?

    EPIDEMIC!!

Just found out there's an epidemic of Ground Poisoning, also know as Blue Sky Fever, sweeping through our great nation's worksites, even as we speak!!! It only seems to affect skydivers--Symptoms include going outdoors on breaks and looking up at the sky, and worsen if the sky is clear, and totally take over if the "victim" has thier gear in the car already- Only know cure is to blow off work at noon (earlier if possible!) and head straight to the nearest DZ !!! Well, damn!!! I feel the symptoms coming on myself! Excuse me while I email my boss to tell him I'm taking off because of this!!!! C-Ya at the DZ!!!!!!
  10. Only boogie I'll be able to get to this year is the Heartland Boogie up in East Troy, WI - (Home DZ-) It's a charity boogie to benefit Camp Heartland, which is for kids with AIDS - We'll have a Casa, maybe two, the King Air, and lots of other fun stuff (high altitude jumps, record attempts, etc-) plus cool stuff on the ground!
  11. Now that the thread has gone off subject-- Here's my input - The best, most bulletproof paint you can use on a helmet (or anything else-) is Imron, made by DuPont- However, this isn't for the faint-hearted - Special safety precautions must be followed - I worked with it a bit when i was working for a company that did custom paint and upolstery on aircraft- Next best is automotive arcrylic - Much easier and cheaper - (depending on the colors-) A couple Z-1's got paintjobs this winter at our DZ- Basic black cost about 40-50 bucks and is 110% tougher than the factory black- My reccomendation to protect the sweet flames you have would have been automotive clear coat, but I don't know if you used laquer or enamel - The two don't mix, and you'll know it immediately! I'll be doing my Z-1 probably this summer sometime - Don't know exactly when or what kind of scheme, but I'll post some pics!! Again- Really nice paint job! -D
  12. Just a newbie here but --- AAD's IMHO- Good idea - But I wouldn't go as far a making it a requirement - I use one - but respect other's choice not to use one - Same way I feel about motorcycle helmets- I ride without one - that's just my choice - I do wear a seatbelt in the car - again MY CHOICE!! This is America here, and in any other country- it should be a CHOICE- Seems to me like more and more people are willing to let the governing bodies do thier thinking for them - Scares the hell out of me! My .02 -
  13. 1:0:0 Mother Nature has a sick sense of humor- This is May not March!!! Wet and nasty and cold but we did have a good party Sat nite regardless- Wanted take Friday off but these damn machines would not let me go --- Good times next weekend at East Troy! Lots of cool stuff going on!
  14. You need to peel the lining back inside the helmet - you'll find a small nut- Put a wrench on it - (I forget what size - but it's metric) Now give the screw out side a quarter turn - With a little gentle persuasion you should be able to pop it the rest of way out- Once you get both of the pivots out and take a look at the components you'll see how it works- It's really not so bad after the first time-
  15. Maintenance Supervisor/Lead technician for a thermoplastic elastomers compounding company. (we make the stuff like what's on your toothbrush handle or some one's golf club grips- But I know skydivers don't golf- Why waste a perfectly good day?)
  16. We hope you post a pic when it's done!!
  17. I think Bill got it right - You can have friends without skydiving, but you can't skydive without making friends - at least some casual aquaintances- Yet there seem to be a few people who socialize and occasionally jump - Some who jump and occasionaly socialize - and the bulk do both - And a few that are beer drinkers with a skydiving problem-- Bottom line for me is I'm there to jump and have fun, and the social aspect is nice side effect-
  18. Ahh- Yess!! I wen S/L also- I figured more jumps for the buck- But the trick is to jump as often as you can - particularly during the learning phase - You'll learn quicker and retain more- All my extra cash (and then some-) goes to jumping, and I'm actually going to start working in Manifest to help pay for this wonderful addiction! Welcome to the family!!!!!!
  19. Good to hear, that! My wife is so cool- She works at the DZ - They needed help behind the counter - and she was willing to learn and pitch in- She is a dedicated whuffo- (I hope someday she at least does a tandem-) but she loves to wear skydive t-shirts and stuff- Works for me! I I love knowing she's waiting for me after I jump!
  20. 1:4:0 Worked on my RW skills with a one-on-one coach jump and some well-organized 6-ways, - was really cool - HAd some nice accurate landings too- 2 less tha 10 meters from the carpet- Sweet! I think I'm actually beginning to learn something!
  21. Dammit- I KNEW I was working for the wrong company!
  22. Gear isn't anything fantastic- Racer, Spectre 150 - and a really cool Bomber freefly suit--- And she already gets almost everything she asks for--
  23. Yeah- Great- My wife is addicted to ER - (when it comes on I usually go out to the garage or down to the computer room-) AND she is really paranoid about my skydiving addiction- all she needs is to watch some one bounce- She'll flip out- Here's a question - Sell my gear and save the realtionship or divorce and keep jumping?
  24. Just a casual inquirery - I'm no rigger or anything but what if/ could the slider be a little on the small side? Let us know what is found out-! This is interesting!
