How do I tell what body size my jumpsuit is made for?
skyjumpenfool replied to hooddiver's topic in Gear and Rigging
Have people try it on. When you find someone it fits, you'll know where to start. It'll give you a range to advertise it at. I've done this (successfully) in the past. -
It's apparently been a while since you've hung out with the CRW dawgs? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

How often does line twist happen in student jumps
skyjumpenfool replied to dpfire29's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That statement might be misleading for newbs... In AFF, you're falling at terminal. Static lines open lower because they never reach terminal (they are falling slower). EP working time might not be much different. Both methods are designed to give students ample time to deal with EP's, especially line twists. Line twists are a simple problem to correct for. Don't sweat them, just go make a skydive and report back... have fun. -
Freeflyers wearing .... booties? I think you're on to something here. The next thing out there. I'm thinking of getting a new jumpsuit for RW. I've not needed booties and am comfortable not having them. But, the masses now jump booties. Tracking and seperation seem to be one area of advantage?? .... Or, buy a good pair of long johns and come to Minnesota. We jump all winter long. Down time is for Woofos! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

So, you're saying even an experienced TI/E with over 9K jumps can't exit correctly because of the camera distraction? Wow, this is worse than I imagined. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Stolen from a Camera Forums thread.... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=136116; A picture is worth a bizillion words. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Agreed, but as much as seeing T-Students wearing cameras bothers me, (a bit off topic here) worse IMHO is newley minted TI's wearing them. Again, I'm not a TI but I have a strong

Hanging out in the Holding Area.

Eager to learn!!! We like it. -
Check with your local jumpers. Sometimes there's a local suit builder that will give you personal attention. Also, depending on the discipline, jump what the other locals (the people you'll be jumping with) jump. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Play!!! Remember, this shit is fun. Ask your instructor what manuvers you should work on? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Hmmmm? Looks like another "open canopy" incident? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

No. But most of it is essential to have, so you have to accept the risk that comes with it. Hoodies are not essential, so you do not have to accept that risk. Booties aren't essential. Tell that to a 4 way team. Grippers aren't essential. Tell that to anyone doing RW. Wingsuits aren't essential. They are if you want to do a wingsuit jump? Cameras aren't essential. Unless you want video/stills? Audible altimeters aren't essential. Hmmm? Ok. Gloves aren't essential. Come jump next month in Minnesota. Eyes are good... use them to check your altitude/altimeter often. Audibles are just warnings to check your altitude again. No more, no less. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

9 cell vs 7 cell pack volume?
skyjumpenfool replied to Miltino1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm looking for a 150 Stiletto..... call me. But, check the manufactuers pack volume for your rig and then check the pack volume of the canopy your considering. Whatever you do, don't ask slugs like me for informative answers on the interweb. -
Well crap... I'll never be able to downsize then because I REFUSE to even attempt to land near ours... that darn thing is 45-50 feet or more deep INTO the hanger and I'm not willing to fly my canopy in there... Then you've got no business downsizing!!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

I do! But, you are not going to like the Locical Connections I'll make. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Hmmm? Well. That explains that! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

We currently have several of these canopies being used for CRW. They fly just fine, but then again, I grew up on F-111. I picked up a Furry with 3o jumps for about 200US. It's like new and flys/lands great. It came with a really old rig and reserve. Don't pay too much. ... and when you do find one, let us know. F-111 PUP? @ Top... Did a downplane with your old Maverik a few weeks ago. It's still in the air.
