I'm with Top on this one. Landing a Down Plane is a life altering incident. I'm of the belief that chopping a downplane leaves little chance for any kind of canopy entanglements. If you ever see CRW Dawgs releasing from them, the canopies can't fly apart fast enough. There are several threads already on this, including one currently in the incidents forums. As for how low? The higher the better, why wait? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Naked was all the rage... I vaguely remember a large group of girls doing a naked jump at the NCC boogie (1978-80is) out of a DC-3. They had a friend that was suppose to be waiting on the north end of the runnway with their cloths. Q found out and somehow hijacked the pile of cloths just before they landed. It seems to me (as memories fade) that there were 10 beautiful women walking back to the packing area wearing nothing but F-111 Togas. Good times indeed! Action Essentials!!! Perfect. B&H has the 2K version for $229.00. Does that sound fair? Thanks for the help!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

I'm looking for an FX DVD for my Video Production students. Something with explosions, fire, and that sort of thing. Any recommondations? We use Sony Vegas Studio for editing if it matters. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

You have an incomplete profile?? But, if you have the jumps, maybe try a larger Stiletto? Maybe a 170? Sometimes downsizing can involve larger canopies.

Skydiving age/weight restrictions
skyjumpenfool replied to Snoa's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What's swooping? That's doing a turn down low under canopy to build a lot of speed/energy to go gliding across the pond or landing area, inches from the ground, for hundreds of feet. Very impressive if done correctly and being heavy does let you carry more energy. Some wear extra weights when they swoop. So it's like pod racing from Star Wars only minus the pods and minus the racing? YUP!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
I've put a bunch of jumps on Sabre's. Their great. I didn't care for the Pilot when I did some demo jumps on them. I think their great canopies, don't get me wrong. I just didn't warm up to them. The best advice I can give you (or anyone) is demo canopies. Find the one that is right for you. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

I know a pilot that is in better shape than many skydivers. Been flying an airshow act for 40 years in a Cub (light plane, no passenger, slow speeds). When he went to renew his class II medical, they delayed it for 6months while he went through a battery of additional exams (all of which proved his good health) then demanded that he get a notorized letter from his AME that guarenteed that nothing would happen while he was at the controls. The ONLY difference between that year and the prior... he turned 80. So, it may not be in writing, but there is a defacto age limit in place. JW An old jump pilot by the name of "Ernie" comes to mind??? Some, in the upper midwest, will know what I'm talking about. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Clearing lines and material inside canopy while packing

OK, my question is.. Does the line type (Dacron, Spectra, etc.) make a difference? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
^^^^^^^This^^^^^^ Some Home Depots also have PEX classes. They'll teach you how to make good fittings. (if you're pulling a permit?) Check with your city/state inspector to see what they require. Hint: don't pull a permit!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

low jump numbers, camera and low exits
skyjumpenfool replied to cavscout73's topic in Safety and Training
Many years ago, I was an accomplished cliff diver/gymnast. One day I took a couple friends up a 60 foot cliff over the St. Croix River. One of these guys was a very good ski jumper and pretty good gymnast. He did well, followed instructions and managed some pretty impressive dives. The other was a football player with little athletic ability and virtually no air sense at all. He had no business being there. But, his ego was not going to let him back down. Plus, I certainly wasn’t smart enough (at age 17) to tell him to take the path to the beach. It’s amazing how water can make your skin turn black & blue. But even more amazing that he climbed back up for a second attempt. The point is this… Just because the experienced guy knows what he’s doing doesn’t mean others should follow. Sometimes it works out ok…sometimes, not so much? Sometimes, you just have to tell them to take the path down to the beach! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

cheap hop 'n pops -- economically efficient?
skyjumpenfool replied to CloudyHead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Find a CRW Dawg. If you don't know what that is, ask around. Ask them if they'd be willing to work with you on canopy skills up high (not necessarily CRW). My guess is they'd jump (excuse the pun) at the chance. You'll learn a great deal about the finer points of canopy control, winds aloff, proximity flying, ect. The'll ultimately try to bring you over to the CRW side of the planet, but, you may even enjoy that. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Main rig... Backup rig... CRW rig... 2nd CRW rig (because CRW is no fun alone)... Multiple jumpsuits... Camera Equipment... Let's just say, you're going to need a second income. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

I learned this over 35 years ago... Skydiving costs all the money you now have and 1/2 your paychecks for the rest of your life. Go make a skydive!

Standardized Wingsuit Instruction Opinion Poll

It's a membership magazine! I'm guessing if YOU or any member write that article and submit it, they would happily print it. (the following not aimed specifically at tdog) Once again, too many people wanting everything done for them. At some point you have to take the bull by the horns! But, If you choose not to be proactive, someone else will. At which point your bitching about it has no value other than to affect minor changes in the policies they implement. Lesson..... Stop bitching and be Proactive!! Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
