  1. Silly, the difference between a valid and invalid question is the ability to throw a liberal talking point at it..... Direct questions to real world scenarios are invalid.... 2. If someone is coming at you with a firearm, your life is already changed, their is no way around it. The only question after that is "What are my options now?" Me personally, I like the options that will most allow me to come out of the situation alive. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 3. However, it does re-enforce the difference between a mad-man shooting in an area where everyone is armed and an area where no one is armed. How far did he get? 4. No it doesn't Full story http://news.yahoo.com/utah-teachers-free-gun-training-response-newtown-shooting-025210116.html "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  5. How often have I used a gun ins self defense? About as often as I have used a seat belt to save my life (well, maybe the gun a little more because I've been to Iraq and Afghanistan...) I guess since they are not used that often (comparing people that use them to people who need them) we should get rid of them too..... After all, I have heard of children who have worn seatbelts and died.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 6. Thanks for starting this thread! I was just getting ready to ask the question my self, since my parachute us coming up on the 10 year mark. My only guidance (or at least where I spent a lot of my time) was in the SPECWAR 3000.3B Air Operations Manual. It says inspect all gear at the 10 year mark and toss it at 15. I don't have the same budget as the military. But I also have more control over the factors that would break down nylon and the other material that make up my gear. Good read. 7. It's not. Why would you raid a store where people are trying to steal from? I'm sure they dug through their books until they found something. It's the moral equivalent to prosecuting a rape victim. But, it's the government the people voted for. If you make a movie that the president doesn't agree with, they will hold you until they can find something to charge you with ( and they have 100's of thousands of pages of rules and regulations to choose from) forget free speech.... 8. You're seeing bunnies in the clouds. Apple treats all of the other Google apps the same as any other app. Why would they treat the Google Maps app any different. For cryin' out loud, the Google Maps app is even featured in the iTunes store. BTW, I did a test the other night. I had to make a run up to downtown Los Angeles from Orange County. I ran Apple Maps on my iPhone and my wife ran Google Maps on hers. The Apple Maps app gave a better route by 12 minutes so we took that one. The Google Maps app complained almost the entire way and wanted us to take a different route. It was only as we finally turned onto the final street that Google Maps gave up the fight. So...we saved 12 minutes NOT using Google Maps and the Apple ETA was spot on. Routing in Los Angeles is one of the most important functions the map nav can give since conditions are so dynamically unstable. I'll admit this was simply one data point, but so far, Apple wins for me regardless of some few cases of people being steered off cliffs. All I'm saying is that stories like this are common on iPhones, but my droid runs google maps just fine. Coincidence? Especially when Mac's app store just now got around to adding google maps? I'll let you guys decide on your own... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 9. Apple, being very proprietary, is very unfriendly with google products. Especially after the release of the Android operating system. Cuts into their business don't you know. If you are able to even get google maps on your iPhone or iPad, consider your self lucky. Most people are still stuck with the still needs work apple navigation program, what ever it is. Bottom line, google and apple don't mix very well. Chock this one up to enemy action... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 10. Whole heartedly agree. If I was going to go on a rampage and wanted maximum body count, where would I go? Why to a place that I know no one else is packing. Remove the ban on fire arms for adults in public schools, ask teachers if they want to volunteer to be vetted and trained to carry fire arms, and let them be the first line of defense. If a shooter comes to school, they are in the cross hairs anyway. Give them a fighting chance. Also, if the teacher is carrying heat, do you think little Johnny is as likely to lip off? I seem to remember a shooter that tried to rampage in a mall in Utah. An off duty policeman was carrying and on scene. The shooter didn't get that far.... Once news gets out that starting a shootout in a school will likely have the same results as starting a shoot out in a police station, I'm sure "nut cases" will start picking different targets. 11. Do not set zombies on fire!!!!! We all know that the only way to kill a Zombie is with a head shot. Setting them on fire will not kill them. All that will do is result in you being eaten by a flaming zombie!!!!! "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 12. It's interesting that 48 votes into this, no one thinks that aliens are going to blow up the world. I guess no one has seen Independence Day.... Or is it that the planet has orbited out of the way of the Vogon's intergalactic highway? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 13. Doh!!!! I guess I also forgot the release of "Magnetic Pole the movie." Sounds like that could also cause the end of the world. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 14. I think the entire universe will simply cease to exist, instantaneously, in its entirety. Of course, it will then be replaced immediately thereafter with an EXACT DUPLICATE in its place. This will all take place seamlessly, and will only be detectable by the most sensitive of scientific instruments. When these instruments cease to exist, their replacements will indicate an infinitesimal irregularity that will baffle the replacement scientists, who will little suspect that the Dirac Delta they witnessed was the discontinuity between the Before Universe and the After Universe. This simple and obvious outcome was, for some reason, left out of the list of available options. BSBD, Winsor I do believe this would fall under "Aliens", since they are the ones that would bring us back. I do believe I will have to ponder this a little further while I drink another "Pangalactic Gargleblaster..." "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 15. Rules on voting: Only one answer allowed, not multiple (IE: virus causes Zombie outbreak) A virus is a virus, a zombie is a zombie. Feel free to elaborate on answers (Michelle placed a banana peel in front of the button) If you feel that aliens will allow a select few to start a new earth in a distant galaxy if they dress in bubble wrap and wear tinfoil hats, please give details. And the last option is the "boobies" option. Have you ever seen what happens when hot chicks start flashing on coming traffic? Enjoy, I'm going to have sex and a Mai-Tai for the end of the world.... And if the world continues, it will have been a hell of a party the night before, just like Dec 31, 1999...... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 16. Were you were actually serious when you said that? What planet are you from and what are they smoking? Puff-puff-give dude... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  17. Yes, but it's been a slow process spread out over many years. We have seen the gradual devaluation of the dollar and the slow, but steady rise in cost of everything. People have been having to cut back and skimp a little more each year. Now imagine what would happen if a couple of trillion dollar coins were issued and Americans were forced to make all these adjustments over night? I'm sure the press would do there best to shield Obama, but it might be hard sell even for Chris Mathews if people were hit by such a huge shift almost over night. 18. I had to vote "Other" I think a lot of the problems we face could be fixed if congress sat down and hammered out a fair tax code. A lot of "Picking of the winners and losers," unfair tax advantages to preferred donors, er, I mean, groups, bought tax advantages and in general unfair weights placed on small business while corporations like GE with $14billion profits pay nothing comes from our hosed up tax system. I just think it would be a good place to start to fix unemployment and the economy. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 19. I just had to throw this quote in there. It goes to show just how "Expert" some experts are. You can find an "Expert" to back just about any position. Just take a look at Obamacare. I truly don't think that they will be able to find enough idiots to back this position. I wouldn't worry about the minting of a trillion dollar coin any time soon. Not even from the Obama Administration..... But I'm not going to put any money on it.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 20. I voted "yes" because I am currently in Afghanistan where it is ok to have "wives" and beat them. The "Rule of Thumb" is alive and well. When I get back to the states I will change my vote. 21. Greed noun: intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/greed?q=greed Perhaps you meant... Industrious adjective: diligent and hard-working http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/industrious?q=industrious Since the reason a lot of people become diligent and hard working is be acquire wealth, food, and other creature comforts the democrats have done a great job of lumping them together... That's why we are having this argument. Donations don't show a big heart any more either. Only giving to the government (Democrats) shows a big heart any more. You must show proper homage to the man. Only they know the proper way to spend your money. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 22. Well, when you put together an entire thread to create bigoted stereotypes of an entire political party based on the actions of a few nut cases, what do you expect? I know I shouldn't feed the trolls.... but I'm bored.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 23. Isn't that something of an oxymoron? Not really. Someone once said that true democracy is a sheep and two wolves deciding what's for dinner. One of the major failings of democracy is the lack of inherent protection for the minorities. Ask the Christians how much of a voice they have now. Actually, the sheep gets to decide which wolf eats him..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 24. So it's OK when greed drives hedge fund managers, options traders, Wall St. bankers and other capitalists, but not when it drives ordinary citizens. Got it; you have a double standard. Greed drives other things also. Is it greedy to want to provide for my family? Is it greedy to want to be able to feed my kids? Is it greedy to want to be able to give my kids a college education with out putting them in debt? I suppose the drive to expand your wealth and create a better life for you and your family would be considered evil.... Liberals have had the drive domesticated out of them. They all sit around waiting for there next government check.... Or sit on their ever expanding ass in their do nothing union job or pretend to teach in their tenured teaching jobs that they can't be fired from.... WRONG on just about every count, but I excuse your ignorance. Thank you for your witty and insightful response. I will now stop providing for my family because to do so is greedy, expect the government to support me, and vote democrat from here on out.... Obama Rules!!!
