  1. I have to agree with you here. If the class is dedicated to state and federal regulations on how to handle a gun without getting thrown in jail, 16 hours might not be enough.... Marksmanship and safety? PPSSHHH... Who gives a fuck... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 2. That's just it, he is so enamoured with the fact that "his people" are in government and they are passing laws that suit his political spectrum that he didn't care that it was erroding his freedoms until this came along. Now that it is effecting him, he cares. To use use the liberal argument: "Name one right you have actually lost? It's not an illeagal search and seazure, the government is just monitoring in its duty to keep you safe. Think of the children..." "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 3. Google the fines paid by the parents for letting their kids set up a lemmonaide stand. I'd say they felt it was pretty close... And as I said before, the small cases set precedence for government over reach. And if you don't get it, there is nothing I can do to help you. 4. Silly little issues become big ones, like the guy who is now a convicted felon, lost his buisness, lost his family, lost everything because he imported frozen lobster in the wrong kind of plastic wrap. I know you probably don't care because you are not in the restaurant business, but to some people, yes it is a big deal. Wire tapping is a big deal because we are one step away from the government patrolling private conversations looking for something to convict you on. So I see why this would concern you, it effects you. But you were so willing to turn a blind eye to the "silly little issues" that effect other people because our government is "just right" . Then when these "silly little issues" set the stage for the big stuff, you act all shocked and surprised. So yes, saw it coming a while ago. This is the government you asked for looking for all those "government protections" and any outrage just seems a little insincere... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 5. Your right, it's not an issue as long as you have your buisness licence and all the proper permits. Google it. If the purpose of this thread is to high lite government abuses and overreaches into the daily lives of the average citizen, I don't think you have enough band width.... 6. I kind of think we have that already. Have your kids go into the front yard and open a lemonade stand, then tell ms if you still feel that way..... 7. So you are telling me that the Earth's constantly moving tectonic plates might also have an effect on the sea level? Next thing you know, you are going to be telling me the earth is round.... 8. So are you saying that we should start enforcing the immigration laws that are on the books? Interesting notion.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  9. First off, the Boston marathon bombing wasn't a terrorist attack, it was a pressure cooker that failed it's pressure test... Second, as long as they don't label the fort hood shooting work place violence instead of a terrorist attack, the victims are not eligible for purple hearts and can be denied certain VA benefits... Third, I heard Obama gets a kick back from VA of 5% of all benefits that get denied to veterans and there is legislation in the works to have that money funneled to Democratic campaign funds.... ....OK, I made the third part up... But because Obama is try to say "GM is alive and Bin Laden is dead" there are troops that are being denied services... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 10. Do a little research. Faculty salaries are a rather small slice of the pie. Yes, I'm sure that $100-$200K Salary is small compared to a $500 Million budget... 1%er... 11. The flaw in your argument is that you are trying to say "these fire arms over here are for the military, these over here are for everyone else..." A fire arm is a fire arm and the right to bear them shall not be infringed. The constitutions does not say "you have the right to bear arms except for these over here..." When there is so much that has been converted from military to civilian use and civilian to military, to try to say that an item is for either one or the other because of it's original design is idiotic. Parachute still a great example. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  12. Well, maybe that's how you go to college, but there are a few more things that should be factored in: Most of your reputable colleges will charge you 3 semester hours per class. A typical full time college student is considered 12 hours or 4 classes. A lot of colleges are now saying that some of there classes are 4-5 semester hours to gouge some of there students. You are obviously being charged a "residents" rate for a mid level school. Under graduate schools will charge less than graduate schools, and Ivy league schools are through the roof. If you attend an Ivy league school as a non-resident, prepare to get ass raped.... A lot of the younger kids will also get dorm rooms and meals added to the bill. They don't realize how quickly all these little things add up. Couple that with partying instead of getting a job and it's a recipe for disaster. Now add that they are getting a degree in a field that only pays $30,000.00 a year. They will never get it payed off. The schools don't care. They just see the tuition dollars rolling in. It's not like anyone looks at the loans. Student loans can't be forgiven when you file for bankruptcy. So they lend the money knowing that they will get it back whether or not they have to take it out of your hide. And colleges won't lower their tuition. Why should they? Society tells everyone they need to go to college to make it, and the government keeps giving out the loans. And the colleges need to have there expensive marble foyers and the teachers need their 6 and 7 figure salaries. Most colleges are as money hungry and corrupt as most businesses. Case in point, ask Kallend how much he makes. I have no idea, but I'm sure it's well above the American average... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 13. All through the 60's it was "Stick it to the man" Now they are the man and sticking it to the country. Anyone ever read "Animal Farm?" "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 14. This has already happened in a couple other states. It's not a red or a blue thing, it's a green thing by the dealerships. Tesla, wants to sell it's cars directly to the public. The third party dealerships say they want their cut, and to sell tesla's. The dealerships are claiming some kind of unfair advantage and market pricing schemes (I can't remember all the details). Tesla is saying that being an electric car, they are in a separate market and don't feel that conventional dealers, either unintentionally, or maliciously, would market their car properly. Either way, it will be interesting. If I remember rightly, I think telsa won the first round of battles in Texas. A quick google search could probably get the rest of the story. 16. Right now I am trying to get these guns home by classifying them as curios and relics. There are provisions for that with the ATF. I may have to get the assistance of an FFL though... How is all of this not an infringement on my right to bear arms but asking for some one to show an ID to vote is cause for the world to end? Selective constitutional enforcement? I guess I should expect no less from the current administration.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 17. This statement right here is contrary to a free society. Wendy touched on it earlier, just like someone is innocent until proven guilty, we don't ban something just because their is no reason to have it. Lets take a look at parachutes: They were developed for military use. Do you "need" one now? Do you have any good reason for having it, other than you like to jump? By your reasoning, they should be banned, so there are no more air assaults on elementary schools, which happen as often as bayonetings. Think of the children. Lets take a look at some other items we could ban using that logic. Whips, handcuffs, spurs, .... Oh crap, there goes my sex life.... While owning a parachute is a freedom, not a right, don't be so quick to give away other peoples freedoms unless you are willing to give away your own. After all, there is nothing in the constitution that says your right to own a parachute shall not be infringed... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 18. Right now I am over seas and have found an awesome Pre 1956 Harvester International built M1 Garand 30-06 in pristine condition and a 1941 Lee Enfield No4 Mk1* British .303 bolt action also in pristine condition. Both of these, along with being awesome collectors items, are also some of the best calibers for hunting ever made. Why am I having such a hard time getting them back to the states? They have bayonet lugs, which now puts them firmly in the "Military Weapon" category. According to the ATF, the defining features (as well documented in this forum) are Pistol Grips, Barrel Length of less than 16", Threaded barrel to accept flash suppressors or silencers, large capacity magazines, collapsible or folding stocks, and bayonet lugs. Directly from the ATF web site: The above statement is the justification for banning the importation of the rifles I want. So that is how a Democrat thinks. If you don't need it, ban it. I did a google search on how many people have been killed in the US with fixed bayonets and you know what I found? NOTHING!!! The last American to actually lead a bayonet charge was during the Korean war. As far as crimes committed with fixed bayonets? Not a fucking one. If someone actually finds a crime in the US by a person with a fixed bayonet, please post it in this thread. I just didn't think that we would start to ban stuff on a perceived threat rather than an actual threat... So in true liberal form, let's start listing things that we have no use for so we can ban them. I'm starting with pressure cookers........ 19. Can you explain this a little better? If a state wants to charge sales tax, it does. There are already states that charge sales tax for internet sales (9 total). If other states want to charge a sales tax for internet purchases, what is stopping them? Why is the federal government getting involved again? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  20. It's arguably constitutional because it simply allows the states to collect the tax, it doesn't require it. Without the legislation, the states wouldn't have been authorized to collect the tax because the transaction usually wouldn't have been deemed to have taken place inside the collecting state. That doesn't make sense to me. There are already states that are charging sales tax to out of state customers. I thought the intent of this bill was to require all states to charge a sales tax to "level the playing field". And what if your state (like Oregon) doesn't have a sales tax? do they have to implement one? To me this is almost a "If it's not broken, fix it till it is" typical government scenario.... 21. I'm still trying to figure out if this whole tax thing is even constitutional. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this bill being proposed in the Senate? Isn't most sales tax state taxes? When did the Federal Government get the power to tell states how to tax? Or are these new taxes going to be Federal Sales taxes? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 22. Great article. I was so impressed with it that I posted it to my facebook page. I love it when people reference their material with hyperlinks and everything.... 23. You mean my PhD in underwater basket weaving won't get me a job with enough income to pay off my student loan? Well fuck, if the government doesn't bail me out, I might as well go kill myself. 24. Of the 48,000 convicted felons that lied on their back ground checks, only 44 were prosecuted? Doesn't this all go back to "enforce the laws that are on the book"? And the point of adding new laws and expecting that the government would be able to enforce those is kind of stinging... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 25. But Sharia Law is perfectly harmless and completely compatible with U.S. Law. We need to listen to our liberal brethren and allow Muslims to practice Sharia Law in the U.S. And if a women or two gets stoned to death along the way, what does it matter? As long as America stays pro-choice, they should shut the fuck up, put their burka back on and stay in the house before they get beat the fuck up....
