  1. If you don't want to fill a cup, don't ask for a hand out, get a job Just like, was it Kallend or Bill Von that said, if you don't want to deal with TSA, don't fly.... 2. As my dad used to tell me: "My house, my rules. If you don't like it move out!" If you ask the government for help, I believe they have every right to expect something in return. What I don't want is the government forcing me to be on one of there programs then telling me how to run my life (Obamacare, just wait and see) http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/27/17489469-texas-advances-bill-to-require-drug-screening-for-welfare?lite= "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 3. I've always liked the word "Diphthong" Kind of hard to work it into every day conversation though. You can't just walk up to someone and say "That's a mighty fine diphthong you got there...." 4. Toby Kieth, Red Solo Cup. That's song will be on replay when I finally get a chance to have a drink "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  5. Then maybe you can explain to me why he wants to ban assault weapons while sending the message that Saturday Night Specials with the serial numbers filed off are OK then. Why is one worse than the other? How many people were killed in Chicago by assault weapons vs. Saturday Night specials last year? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  6. Irrelevant I'm trying to figure out if your post is honest or facetious. If your are trying to ban one and setting free people for having the other, I think asking yourself "which one kills more people" is very relevant. People say "there is only one thing an assault weapon is good for." But what is the purpose of having an unregistered hand gun with filed off serial numbers good for? And why is Obama pardoning him? P.S. AR's are very good for hunting deer, and with the Beowulf .50 cal upper, they are the preferred weapon for hunting pigs for a lot of people I know...
  7. You forgot the part about the "with no serial number". If you do a google search you will see that the serial number of the gun in his possession was filed off. So "assault weapons" that are serialized and registered are bad, unregistered hand guns with serial numbers filed off are good. Got it. Which one kills more people again? 8. You for got the option... "Blow rape-whistle until help arrives." .... for certain anti-gun liberals on the forum. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  9. So, Man Vs. Mutt. Who gets better health care? Here is an article I remember reading back when Obamacare was being considered: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204908604574334282143887974.html "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 10. So I guess it's now safe to assume that if the police show up and the woman is beating the holy livin' dog shit out of the man, it's mandatory for the man to still go to jail? If it's a couple of gay men in a dispute, they both go to jail? If it's a lesbian couple, the police grab a bag of popcorn and watch? (If they are hot and in bra and panties fighting that is...) I think the point of some of the other posts is that there are already laws about beating the shit out of someone, I don't see what this law does other than create another layer of government bureaucracy to be abused, although voting for the name would certainly make one feel good. 11. So for the record, are you now changing your stance on laws saying that if we take away guns from the good guys, gun crime will go down? 12. Do you think that these extra costs will be put on pot smokers too? Fair is fair.... A 20 year old walks into an insurance office. "Do you smoke?" "Cigaretts? No......" 13. Yes, but what makes this one intersetsting is the fact that it will be a felony to enforce federal law. If this passes, we'll get to see how close your predictions were in the previous theads I think Eric Holder, being the dirty, low down, partison, cock sucking, low life, bigoted, racist, power-grabbing, corrupt, Chicago-style, chicken-fucking, Attorney General that he is would put to shame anything you can think of. After all, this move goes against his extreme liberal agenda..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 14. This one is going to be interesting.... http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2013/01/21/missouri-sheriffs-pledge-to-not-enforce-obamas-gun-control-laws/ The actual bill: http://www.house.mo.gov/billtracking/bills131/biltxt/intro/HB0170I.htm "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 15. I actually agree with getting rid of speed limits, but that's a whole 'nother thread.... As far as DUI's and guns, that's apples and oranges. A gun, just like a car is a tool. Then you throw alcohol or drugs into the mix and your impairing judgment. To separate things... Now pass me a beer and my .45 and watch this shit..... 16. The real fun will happen when he tries to pass the law of the land by "Executive Order". Executive orders may work when it comes to his cabinet, his office, or the military, but to pass laws without congress will be a new one.... I guess we should replay "School House Rock" [music]I'm just a bill.... just a plain ol' bill......sitting here on capital hill.....[/music] "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  17. Are you suggesting that the news agency picked a nit-wit to portray the right? Say it isn't so!!!! "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  18. Just out of curiosity, did gangster rap, the prison culture, and gang-banging ever go mainstream over there across the pond like it did here in the U.S.? Also, does London have any neighbor 3rd world countries that ship drugs in like Mexico? (I mean, comparatively speaking, is Ireland that bad?) And how is Englands Immigration policy compared to the U.S.? Do you guys have to "Press 2 for (Insert language here)" on the telephone to accommodate anyone else yet? I'm thinking comparing London to Chicago is like comparing apples to oranges.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  19. Ok THEN DO SOME REAL BITCHING ABOUT IT LIKE YOU DID WITH W!!!! The law does not apply to Americans. When Americans are targeted for surveillance, the government must get a warrant from a special 11-judge court of U.S. district judges appointed by the Supreme Court. I bet you missed that bit, didn't you? But when it comes to Illegal Aliens I thought you were all about assigning them full American and constitutional rights? Double Standard in full effect.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  20. Nice way to miss the point. And the way to make mine. Trying to keep them out is ultimately futile. Being in Chicago you are aware of the history of banning alcohol. Chicago was the center of the booze trade during prohibition because of Canadian whiskey. A solution to the gun problem would also require a solution to the black market issue. They've been trying to solve the black market issue since Hammurabi fixed prices and wages. It's a lot harder to smuggle something into a country than across a city boundary. Not impossible, but some chance of being caught instead of zero chance of being caught. Country wide ban, got it. What do you propose the the 270,000,000 guns that are already owned in the country when you enact your ban? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  21. I agree that it makes it less relevant. Relevance is probably based on the severity of the restriction. A restriction at capacity of 2 or 1 is much more relevant than restriction at capacity of 10 or more. So now you eliminate many classes of weapons totally Including hand guns and shot guns I am not eliminating anything, I was commenting on the relevance of restrictions on magazine capacity. There would be some relevance at the other extreme as well, when you restrict magazines to a minimum of say 5,000 rounds How many people here realize that in some cases, like the Colorado theater shooting, the body count would have been higher if the shooter had a revolver? The shooter's gun jammed and he didn't know his immediate actions. If he had a revolver and had a miss fire, all he had to do was pull the trigger again. Yes, with a speed loader, I to can reload a revolver in less than 2 seconds (though admittedly it's been a while). Point is, focusing on a particular weapon because it looks scary is knee jerk, as pointed out earlier. What was the total people killed by the DC sniper again and what kind of gun did he use? Just because he did it one at a time, he was less of a looney? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 22. Or White Castle was closed.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  23. Me personally, I would be OK with the idea that all firearms be sold with a trigger lock. Yes, it's another damn regulation, and yes it will add to the cost of the gun but it's the only thing that might have saved the massacre... Imagine, said nut case decides to go on a shooting spree, kills his mom, then can't find the keys.... I think he was to dumb, lazy, broke or ignorant to be able to go pick one up off the street, but that's just first impressions.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  24. Three officers wounded, two with only minor injuries. Shooter quickly killed by return fire. Quite a difference from the high body counts of mass shooters in no-gun zones... Would have been NO injuries if madman had not been able to access the gun in the first place. First: The crazy in this particular senario went for the Officers gun. How would you propose to resolve that? Not allow Officers to have guns? Second: With an Estimated 270,000,000 guns currently being owned by law abiding citizens, how would you propose to keep them out of "the wrong hands?" Repeal the 4th Amendment and go door to door taking everyones guns? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 25. No one is forcing these teachers to carry. It's a personal choice to want to be able to better protect them selves and their students. The classes are all voluntary. Let's be honest, some of these teachers will probably just attend the class and not carry because sometimes education on a subject can be enough in it's self. As for keeping the fire arm safe, there are lots of options, from just carrying at random (say only 20% of the teachers have a gun, but which ones?) To having a safe in the teachers lounge, or keeping it in a locked drawer with a trigger lock. I'm sure safety is a huge part of the fire arms curriculum and will be covered ad naseum.... I'm not a proponent of all teachers being well versed in the art of the quick draw, but having the ability to protect your self in 30 sec to a minute instead of waiting 15-30 min for someone to came bail you out can be the difference between life and death for a lot of people. When you find yourself on a bi-directional shooting range, things happen really fast... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
