  1. My own personal feeling about the suicide rate is because you have an entire generation growing up thinking they are entitled and special. Then they face the real world and realize they are not. To bad their parents never equipped them with the skills to hack it. Maybe we can invent a video game to teach them life skills since they are not allowed to leave the house any more without someone calling child protective services. And no, "Grand Theft Auto" should not be the game they use... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 2. If children were physically capable of defending themselves against battery by adults, violence against children in the fraudulent name of "discipline" would never occur. "Corporal punishment"? What an antiseptic euphemism. Let's call it what it really is: Irresponsible parents of the weAk. Your right. Lets not discipline the kids and let them run loose and do what ever they want. It seems to be working great for the youth of Chicago... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 3. Clear as mud. We can now appropriately classify the Burr- Hamilton dual as a Mass Shooting.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  4. Mass shooting? How can this be a mass shooting? No assault weapons were involved and no little blonde girls were shot while in school. This barely qualifies as a typical day in Chicago.... 5. The news is coming to me kind of slow at my location... Yes, just figured out that it's Lindsey Graham who's calling for this kid to be held as an Enemy combatant. Also did not know about the "Public Safety" Exemption to the Miranda rule. Either way, still interested to hear what people have to say on the subject...
  6. I heard on the news that he has not been read his Miranda Rights. This suggests that he may be treated as an enemy combatant. If they go this route, they don't have to allow him to lawyer up and can turn him over for interrogation. I don't think it's necessary though. I think we know the who and why. The only thing that is really missing is the "was anyone else involved." There probably was, but they are not in the states. To me it's 6 of one, half-dozen of the other. I just want to know what everyone else thinks. Besides, it's not like we can water-board these fucks any more... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 7. It ain't being held at our house! That is the most evil thing I have heard all day.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  8. If you want to make a fire with gasoline, you're right. If you want to make an explosion with gasoline, you're wrong. But if you want to make explosions with gasoline vapors, your right... Edited to add: All you need is a pressure cooker.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  9. let's see: on an average day in the USA approx. 30 people are killed with guns. 365 days each year. What is the average per day with pressure cookers? Your post just makes you look extremely silly. Really? Lets break things down by indecent.... How many people were hurt/killed per indecent, by guns? How many people here hurt/killed by these pressure cookers? And yes, this is a valid argument. How many incidents a year involve assault weapons? Yet they still want to ban them. And who really uses pressure cookers any more? The only reason a person would buy a pressure cooker now a days is for nefarious reasons... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 10. Got Milk? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  11. Don't worry, I got it. But just like liberals like to post over and over again their beliefs, true or false, I got to post my beliefs over and over again also. How can it become truth unless I repeat it over and over again? And the canard continues.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  12. Brilliant! No matter how many times this cute little canard is regurgitated, it just never gets old. Yes, just like global warming, universal health care, government spending, etc, etc, etc..... and yet we still post here.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  13. Takes less than that for some politicians... "Never let a crisis go to waste...." Now is the time to stand on the shoulders of the victims and loudly beat the drums of our political views in hopes to gain power with knee jerk reactions... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  14. depends on who's buying it. I guess we need to implement back ground checks for them and ensure that they are only sold through license dealers... or at the very minimum, have the person evaluated by a professional psychiatrist... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  15. Or at least put a cap on their capacity? "Never let a crisis go to waste..." "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  16. and how does that invalidate my response to rushmc? mainly because liberals are not allowed to quote "Faux News..." Since that is where your source came from, it's obviously wrong... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  17. My bad, in my defense that thread was started 10 years ago.... and I didn't see anything that really went bad with bacon either... I'm going to have to try the peanut butter and bacon.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  18. I don't think such a food exits, so I'm putting out the challenge... I've seen bacon burgers, chocolate bacon, candied bacon, bacon bits on salad, bacon in donuts, bacon in Twinkies, collard greens and bacon, bacon on pizza, bacon/lettuce/tomato sandwiches, etc, etc, etc.... Just recently I've even seen bacon flavored condoms (apparently bacon makes oral sex better too....) So give it a try. What can not be made better with bacon? 19. Next you'll be telling us that when we have a "World Championship" sporting event, we should invite other countries. What are you talking about? WWE has participants from many countries! Go Iron Sheik!!! "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  20. Sensei.... Teach me the way of your Verbal Jujitsu.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  21. Maybe... As Airdvr pointed out, it all depends on who's story you believe. There is a lot of he-said-she-said here. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  22. Did I say it wasn't? Everyone had a choice in the matter that day. The only choice I was truly questioning was the DZ owners. But if you want me to question everyone's choice that day, here I go.... The Qatar group, knowing how we are and how we behave in general in the United states should have never came here if their feelings were going to be hurt at every turn.... The Vet should have said, "no I'm not covering it up, and no I'm going to continue to jump because I'm having a good time and not hurting anyone" and made the DZ owner physically throw him out and create a scene so there would have been witnesses... Better? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  23. Just got through reading the Thread about the Vet being asked to leave the dropzone in Florida.... After all of Andy9o8's comments over there, I wonder what he would say over here.... I'm guessing he disapproves... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  24. That's fine. You totally have that right. What I see as the primary issue is that this guy is making a huge fuss and trashing a DZ very publicly for kicking him out without any evidence that they actually did. There is a bunch of he-said-she-said in this case, but either way the Vet was offended. The DZ owner was put in a tough spot. Offend the Muslim visitors, or offend the American Vet. It sucks, but sometimes you have to make tough decisions. Sometimes those decisions have consequences. Not all choices can be made to have the same consequences as choosing between chocolate and strawberry ice cream. Knowing that we are in America and not the middle east, I would have chose differently... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  25. I can't believe I read this whole thread up to this point. I feel dumber for it. What gets me about this whole thing is a group of guys from Qatar come to the US and expect us to bend over backwards to kiss their ass. If Everything we do is so offensive (Tattoo's, allow our women to skydive, eat pork) why the hell did they come here? Why do they get to walk into our house and tell us what to do? Right now I am in Afghanistan, and I'll tell you what, I don't get to make demands on them in their house. This double standard blows... I understand that a private business has the right to refuse service to anyone, however, if it was me and they made the request my response would have been: "No, I'm not going to ask him to cover it up, welcome to America." It's no secret we cherish our freedoms. If you need a more controlled environment, don't come here. UAE has a very nice drop zone I hear, and it's closer too...
